***1+ YEAR UPDATE*** So, after having this unit just a little over a year it began to leak, thus making it difficult to vacuum up moisture as it was leaking rinse water from the reservoir out the right edge near the floor even though the trigger was not depressed. Normally I'd dive in and fix the issue DIY style, however, this unit was purchased with an extended warranty thus we took it back to the store and received a full refund less the price of the extended warranty ($35). Since the "Elite Pet" version is now no longer sold we went with another Hoover that is similar sans the drying element which cost less. We picked up the “Power Scrub Deluxe” version including yet another extended warranty at no out of pocket cost to us. I am guessing that it too will more than likely fail in a year or so as most items aren’t quality made anymore, but we'll see.
***FINAL THOUGHTS*** Normally, I don’t subscribe to extended warranties for most things. However, my best advice to anyone who is looking at a Hoover product like this or similar is to purchase the extended warranty or consider something else altogether. With some of the previous comments received for this video, and the “not if, but when” it breaks scenario, you'll only be out a small (let's call it a rental) fee, not the total cost for the entire unit itself. No burden of repairing the unit yourself or possible disappointment that the manufacturer’s replacement parts could become obsolete either.

Im suspecting the pump for the hose attachment broke. They honestly should have just used an electric vibratory pump instead of that cheap plastic pump. Whats even more stupid is that a vibratory pump will cost around 20 dollars versus the plastic turbine pump costs 70 dollars for some plastic, metal and a gasket
Also I am wondering, have things been good with your Powerscrub Deluxe?

@diymakerdan ^^I am also wondering what results you got since getting the deluxe. Great video overall though, with a actual dirty carpet comparison. I also saw someone using a solution to keep the foam down when it goes inside the tank so it doesnt fill up so fast.

Just one thing about Hoover’s SpinScrub brushes the parts tay makes the spinning action using a turbine mechanism. This turbine has cheap parts and it starts rusting as soon as it comes in touch with water, which could happen right after the first wash. This issue has been widely reported in Hoover's other models as well, and yet Hoover's clueless Engineering team is unable to change the design or the parts and keeps on using non-stainless steel and cheap parts which seize to operate, right after they come in contact with water and rust.

@@victorysgoodlife679 Great comment, did not know that and appreciate the tip. Hopefully this new unit will last a while, otherwise another thing for me to fix I guess (sigh). It's irritating that many big corporations chose to compromise manufacturing quality just to save them pennies per unit. In the end, we the consumer pay the price 1000 fold. My belly tells me the engineers aren't clueless at all, rather stymied by the greedy "Barbrady" like executives that would rather profit off you time and time again.

WANT EVEN MORE CLEANING POWER? Our indoor front door mats for shoes were badly trashed (worse than the carpet in the video). So badly, that the normal cleaning solution would not remove the stains and they looked like a lost cause after a vigorous wash/rinse. Before tossing them out I tried spraying some Super Clean on them (full strength), let sit for 5-10min, then did 2x rinse setting on them (1st rinse is really a wash with the Super Clean) and was astounded. They look just like new again!!! I could even detect that "new carpet smell" towards the end it worked so well.

I just did my daughters room after she left for college. A good unit, took two days, 1/2 room each day. I had to go very slow to get up the dirt. Bought a carpet stain cleaner for some stubborn stains. I think these things are best if you use them at least one a year to keep the room clean. I wish I had bought the extended warranty but darn!. I used the hoover chemicals and the,y worked well except for the stubborn stain (paint).

Because they're consumer grade junk, not meant to last like a solid commercial machine that would cost 5x as much. We have a Hoover vacuum, and while it still works, I can't tell you how many plastic bits have broken off. If you figure it costs $200 to have a carpet guy come in (or more), this thing pays for itself in 1 use. If you got 4 uses out of it, you're way ahead of the game.

I watched your video and and went out and bought the Elite to replace my 1980's Hoover SteamVac which has a motor that is getting noisy. Elite is Absolute toy junk! Puts down less liquid and picks up very poorly. Rubbing my palm on carpet after several dry passes palm is shiny wet. If I go over the same spot with the old unit I can see it pulling water out and recovery tank has as much in it as new unit. Elite has 2.1 more Amp draw. Yes tank is positioned correctly and closed properly. Called Hoover and went through all the steps on the phone and no improvement. I bought as same rotary brushes as original. Very Disappointed in Hoover and your review. Took it back withing 2 hours for refund. Now I have to see if I can get at motor in Steamvac to oil bearings.
