  • Cycling computers can vary from simple wired setups that only show speed all the way to expensive touch screen variations. In this review, we’ll be looking at the latter with Bryton’s new Rider 750 GPS bike computer. Although the model number scheme is a bit confusing, the Rider 750 sits at the top of Bryton’s GPS lineup and features the latest technology and connectivity. Designed around a 2.8” color touch screen, the Rider 750 can interface with sensors, power meters, electronic shifter groupsets, smart bike trainers and even Shimano E-Bikes. Additionally, the Rider 750 provides turn-by-turn navigation and on-board voice search to quickly find points of interest.
    As with other Bryton products, the Rider 750 is very competitively priced. Whether you purchase the standalone headunit at $269.95 or as a bundle with cadence/speed/HR sensors for $349.95 the Rider 750 is a fraction of the price of similar GPS cycling computers. Coupled with the Bryton Active app, the Rider 750 can also interface with a variety of third party software to create cycling routes, workouts or automatically sync data. Due to the sheer number of features the Rider 750 offers, we’ll focus the review on the main features and user interface - but feel free to comment here or on the video if there is something specific we don’t cover.
    Visually the Rider 750 has a rectangular design with black plastic housing. Aside from Bryton prominently printed on the front face and the bottom of the screen, the computer has a simple design. The Rider 750 is thicker than simple computers like the Bontrager RIDEtime Elite due to the battery and mount design, but it’s very similar in size to the Rider 320. There is a raised center portion on the bottom of the computer with the protruding Bryton mount molded into it. Additionally a rubber gasket covers a micro USB port which fits well and helps the Rider 750 achieve an impressive IPX7 rating....

      Glad you're enjoying it. We actually just received the updated Bryton 750 SE which has a sleeker design and improved UI from what was shown in this video. For $150, the 750 is quite the steal for a color GPS cycling computer.

    That is how a review is done. I never knew it had it own software to track your workout for free. I may switch from a edge 130 plus. The reason I like the edge over this is a radar support for traffic. The price is nice and I don’t need to change mounts.

      Glad the review was helpful. Note, that the Rider 750 also has radar support and a lot of other extra features usually reserved for more expensive Garmin computers. The only downside to the Bryton Rider computers is that their app and UI isn't quite as polished as Garmin and I don't think they support Strava Live segments at this point.

      Thanks! I'm surprised your battery life is so short, for my 750 I get about ~20 hours (2 weeks of riding) of use before it goes down to 1/4 battery status. Did you have the navigation on the entire time, or maybe your brightness was on high?

    Thanks for the review! Just stumbled upon your channel due to a search about this device, but liked and subscribed.
    If you have a moment, I have a quick couple questions. One is, on my (currently dying, thus my curiosity here) Elemnt Roam, I can ride a route, but if I want to change the route in the middle, I can easily stop the route and load another if I want, and the Roam will keep recording the ride. I noticed when I had a Garmin that when I wanted to change the route it wanted to stop recording. Any idea how this device works that? May be a bit specific, but I do this quite a bit... indecisive I suppose.
    Second is, any idea how it works with Strava Live segments? I haven't found much about it so not sure how/how well it integrates with that feature, or if it even has it.
    Thanks if you get a sec! If not thanks anyway for the review. =)

      @TheSweetCyclists  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for the support! Glad the reviews are helpful for you. Regarding your questions: yes, you can change routes and navigate to a new route while a recording is active without having to stop. No, I don't think live Strava segments are a supported feature at this time. Strava has a link of all the supported devices here: support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/223361887-Strava-Live-Segments-Compatible-Devices.
      I'd recommend emailing Bryton or contacting them through their Social Media pages to request the feature though, you aren't the first person to ask about it.

    Agree on 9.5 for the price compared to a Garmin 830, Karoo 2 or Elemnt Roam, I bought mine at USD240 for the head unit only set, the Element Roam costs TWICE that in my country and still uses buttons, I consider the 750 as buttons and touch screen operation as the touch screen as u say is inconsistent and the buttons are a good backup.
    The cons are a few, using the radar the alert bar on the right overlays the actual screen and you can see superimposed kmh units below, they should do what Garmin did by shifting the screen to one side when the radar detects a vehicle.
    The other big bug bear is the turn directions do not pop up on your main screen, meaning you are forced to stay on the navigation map screen all the time to navigate, they should either make a direction pop up or auto switching screen when a turn approaches.
    Other than that, it is a pretty good unit and Bryton's best effort so far, just have to keep going and refining.

      Thanks for feedback. Bryton has definitely made a lot of improvements. Question: Do you experience issue where the app constantly not recognize the head unit or appear not to be paired? This is a nice bike computer but the turn by turn navigation would stuck at the starting point and not showing the next turn or something. I already gave all permission to the Bryton app for location but not helping. I see that there is a toggle switch showing run in background but I don't see it on my app. I ended up have to delete the device and adding it constantly. @@TheSweetCyclists I figured the glossy screen wasn't an issue because I would apply a phone matte screen protector. Garmin gloss not a problem because of the very bright display. But 750 already kind of dim. Another annoyance is the layout. It doesn't allow layout of 4 or 5 equal height fields. With 4 fields, 2 fields take up 2/3 of the screen and 2 fields are squashed into lower 1/3. On 5 there are always 2 fields in a horizontal split screen (so are small).
