I have a question I’m learning how to fade and my barber starts the line with the trimmer by the temple area but in your video you split it why is that is it the head shape of the client? Also I love your videos very helpful I’ve been learning alot.

What does #3 guard open to close L.M. What does the L.M mean
Anytime you open the lever it makes the machine less sharp bc the blades move away. It makes the “half” , so you add the #3 lever open, it makes the 3 and a half
Been cutting my teenager's hair for 3 months now... I do a decent Jon on some spots and chop up others spots. Why am I not understanding this process. I follow all these dudes... I just dont get it. Anyone have any tips that helped themselves with? Tia

The #1 is #1 , with the lever open it’s 1.5. Not sure about mm

close cuts more open cuts less and half is half
Open is as longer cut close is as shorter cut if that make sense.
It’s the tapering arm on the clipper open is putting the arm to the bottom which moves the none cutting blade higher meaning you’re cutting less hair closed means the blade is cutting closer to the skin!

After the section where you blend up to the 1 guard open, the guide and directions become rather unclear. You say just redo the 3 guard from the base, a finger above. But then you say to do to the 2 guard open 1 finger above and also for the 1.5 guard 1 finger above. This quite honestly does not make sense. I know you are not just blending with the 3 guard 1 finger above the base line, then 2 guard 1 finger above the same base line, and then 1.5 guard 1 finger above the same baseline as that would be pointless. Could someone specify what is actually going on here and what to do?

Lever is the thing that pushes the blades up and down!
You could go from #0-> a half by opening and closing the lever.
Closing the lever means it’s sharper and the 2 blades are moved closer !
