End to End Power BI Project - Part 4
We will be implementing complete Power BI Projects end to end. Right from requirement gathering to publishing the report. We will be following all the real time scenario based requirements. We will be having all follow up videos. Please do watch all videos sequentially. These videos will get to complete end to end knowledge on projects.
In Part 4- We have developed dashboard, we have implemented RLS and published the app to the end users. we have also scheduled refresh and set alerts for key numbers. this completes one end to end project.

However, wish to mention, I'd run into issue in the initial stage wherein Date column was giving error from the sales table. Converted to Indian Locale and then it started working.

Need to clarify one thing, Let's say all the data sources are on cloud MySQL servers, Do we have to keep our laptop on(That contains powerBi desktop)? If we switch off the laptop, the powerBi gateway will stop, and schedule refresh will not gonna happen, right?
No not required. setting up gateway is initial steps. Schedule refresh will happen

Appreciate all of this! The Dynamic RLS doesnt seem so "dynamic" if you have to create a table with DAX function, then still grant everyone Viewer access. Is there a simpler way? I guess this beats the alternative of managing both Roles AND Access

@KSRDatavizon I followed the project, but the refresh doesn't work for me i have configured the gateway as well but it says scheduled refresh failed , gateway is offline or couldn't be reached
you need to make sure the system and database should be active
so is there no way to pin slicers from report to dashboard ? by any chance is the pin not enabled because of RLS ?
You're absolutely right. Currently, in Power BI, there is no way to directly pin slicers from a report to a dashboard. This can be a limitation when you want to create interactive dashboards with slicers affecting visuals across multiple tiles.
Here are some reasons why slicers can't be pinned directly:
Dashboard Focus: Dashboards are designed to present key insights in a single view. Pinning slicers might clutter the dashboard and detract from the main focus.
Visual Level Filtering: While you can't pin slicers, you can achieve similar functionality using visual level filters. These filters are applied directly to each visual and can be configured to interact with other visuals on the dashboard.
Report Context: Slicers are often designed to work within the specific context of a report. Pinning them to a dashboard might break this context and lead to unexpected results.
Workarounds for Slicers in Dashboards:
Here are some alternative approaches to consider:
Visual Level Filters: As mentioned earlier, you can apply filters directly to each visual on the dashboard. These filters can be configured to interact with each other, mimicking the behavior of slicers to some extent.
Live Page: Instead of pinning individual visuals, consider pinning a live page from your report to the dashboard. This allows users to interact with all the slicers and visuals on that specific page within the dashboard.
Multiple Dashboards: If your dashboard requires extensive filtering options, you might consider creating separate dashboards focused on specific aspects of your data. Each dashboard can have its own set of visuals and slicers tailored to that particular view.
Custom Visuals: While not a mainstream solution, there are some custom visuals available in the Power BI marketplace that offer slicer-like functionality within dashboards. Explore the marketplace to see if there are options that suit your needs.
RLS (Row-Level Security) and Pinning:
RLS itself shouldn't prevent you from pinning other visuals to the dashboard. However, if the visuals you want to pin are filtered due to RLS settings, they might appear blank on the dashboard.
In such cases, ensure the user viewing the dashboard has the necessary permissions to see the data in those visuals. RLS restricts data access based on user attributes, so appropriate permissions are crucial for proper visualization on the dashboard.
By understanding these limitations and exploring the available workarounds, you can still create effective dashboards with interactive filtering capabilities in Power BI.
Thank you so much did the project along with you! enjoyed the experience, but i couldn't do the RLS part because I did'nt have users to implement RLS, I also wanted to know whether if there is any change in the report for eg: instead of 3 page report i decide to delete 2 pages of the report as i couldn't implement RLS will the schedule refresh work?
yes it still works.. refresh refreshes the data only

I am facing some difficulty understanding Dynamic RLS.
Like i have created that sheet and if i have multiple people selected for multiple regions/cities how will that particular person be able to access only that much part of the report?
Multiple ppl can have multiple cities access. This will be mapped in access table. (many to many relationship is expected)

First of all, thank you for this wonderful Power bi series but I have a couple of questions that are why you have used different shades of blue in the pie chart instead of RGB colours @16:47, is it reflect some sort of professionalism, why you have created tot rev measure when you total revenue column to use in calculate function @30:43 and also why you have to change the background colour of date field in last visual, can be left it uncoloured also @42:55?
Thanks for the message. Report should be always with limited colors. Shades gives you good readability and neatness. Measures are generic functions, which can be used for other visuals. Its always good practice to write measures for key numbers. Background was optional. we have kept for good design.

Waterfall chart is best suited for breakdown analysis. As per requirement, they have asked for product breakdown analysis. So we have implemented. (we can use month or country as well)
