+DJ Sean Legend The Beat Cannon Did you ever get the answer to your question? In short, more power, more voices, more modulation features, better display and touch screen. Go to Sound-on-Sound for their review of the GT for more.
People don't want powerful digital synths. They want analog. In fact, based on my experience, people get actively mad at digital synths, and say they are not warm enough, and get pissed off they are not analog synths. I think with all the crazy amount of analog synths now, they are a little less bitchy about digital synths. But it's so weird to me...the hate. If you wanted analog, why would you complain about a, for example, Blofeld that doesn't sound analog. Well, maybe it doesn't because it's...digital. I love synths that can make crazy sounds that you can't ever do on an analog.
Good post. Though the Jupiter 80 isn't analog either. I've found that we're seeing 99% of all musicians gathering into two camps: Those who flock to VST's and multi-sample libraries, and rarely program as it's a total pain in the ass wiggling and clicking a mouse for hours on end. And hardware geeks who insist on 100% pure analog - even if you can get more sounds, even better sounds, out of something digital. Heading into 2018 and beyond, I see a huge space for keyboardists who know how to harness digital synths like the V-Synth, Modal 002, Solaris, etc. and have performance capabilities to create expressive playing using the device.
@Phil .. Well I hate division, them and us, so I hope not… I generally embrace Analogue-modeling digi synths these days, I've got a Wavestation but the menu thing just isn't me at all… I love knobs and sliders to work with, but I will always say that I've had emulators of my analogue synths and they never have those sweet-spots that you can catch when running through circuitry that wack an awesome harmonic out on occasion thats simply awesome! … But yep, theres place for all synths in my rack, don't fear new stuff!!
It's an amazing synth and I have a photo of Nick Rhodes having two of them on stage! It was also used heavily on one of my favourite albums by Michael Cretu (Enigma) called A Posteriori from 2006. Greetings!
Where do you find samples in patch library tho??? Had this board for years still can’t figure it out. Also, can’t find mad orchestra sound either ???? 🤷♂️
For USB connection, does it require a special driver? Is the driver compatible with current OSs? Or is this keyboard now incompatible and less functional?
+Sean Keish MIDI is the normal way. You would need a MIDI interface for PC. Then MIDI in/out to MIDI interface. After that, you just need to configure the synth in the Cubase ( which in my experience is a pain, but see the manuals :) And for the audio, you connect it to a suitable audio interface. You can get a box that does both the MIDI and an audio interface. The audio interface should be simple. At this point, you have a few tracks in Cubase. A MIDI track, and a stereo track ( if stereo tracks are supported, or two mono tracks.) Sequence the MIDI, and then play back the MIDI while recording the audio. Then I think normally you mute the MIDI leaving the audio track, but you could try different options.
glad you got it working. I use a TASCAM to mix/record to avoid the need for a DAW. Because I hate DAW. And I write software for a living so I should be able to figure out DAW, but they annoy me :)
TASCAM DP24 mixer. It mixes and records. No automation. A bit confusing, reading the manual seems mandatory ( reading it each time until I memorize things like mastering mode :) Beats a DAW from my perspective in some ways

One of the best synths every made!
I have it but wish it had more fidelity when stretching samples.. but I luv her
One of the best V-Synth Demos made.
This is Jim Stout's best performance ever.
Now I realize.......I should've acquired this long ago.
I still want this synth!!
Roland should make a System-V16 😊
@@newignis take my momey
Roland never did better after the V serie
I hope Roland will make great gear again. V-Synth XXL? Fantom G V-Synth hybrid with 6 ARX slots?
Want!
4:11 cool!
blond tips! Noice!
I need cutting-edge tools.
I just realized that side filter effect is the "Intergalactic" vocal hook sound by the Beastie Boys :D
Intergalactic predates the v synth 5 years. The VOXII by next! (vocoder) was used on that track
at 8:13 sound just like Jonny Chingas, gotta get mine v synth v 2 next tues comin oH my daze ! )
Please what is the difference between a Roland V Synth version 2 Synthesizer vs Roland V Synth GT Elastic Synthesizer

From this to Jupiter 80; this world is depressing place.

Read the manual?

Unfortunately, they stopped updating the driver for the usb connection.
Please someone tell me how to connect vsynth to the computer. I got it recently. and im working with cubase and fruity loops
