#vocals #musical #theatre - Hudba
Hi! When I started editing the video I was like "Oh, this is gonna be short. I'll include this and two other songs from Wicked (you probs guessed it)" but there's so many riffs, I'll do each one separately next. Have a nice day 💜 (it's almost weekend!)
This is a gift that no one asked for everyone is glad we got 🥰
@@huntersullivan7861 thanks Hunter 💜
Don't take this the wrong way but are you going to complete the set and do Defying Gravity one day?
@@princecomputergames no offense taken!! lol. I'm editing the Defying Gravity still. It's definitely the next upload. But while yes the editing takes time, it's the research that takes a lot. I already did the research for all the different options (there were plenty) and I wrote it down on notes (lol) Now I'm putting everything together and fixing some clips and audio but at max is gonna take up to 5 days or less hopefully. I'm not even done with one section but I think it's gonna be the longest. Sorry for taking SOOOOOO long!!!😂💜
@@MisterGolightlyYou don't need to apologize! I more just wanted to see where you were at with the video. Take as much time as you need and I'm sure we'll all be really happy when we get to see the video!
Edens riff she added reeeaaally serves the song, it’s not a distracting riff, it gives climax to the right part of the phrase. It’s such a smart choice I can see why others did it!
Eden was very smart with her riffing and she never tends to overdo it
Yeah, I'm usually a stickler for sticking to the original score, but that F#5 in "I've never felt" is so beautiful as the last chorus.
jessica vosk is a whole other level for me she’ll always be my fav but ALL of these elphies are AMAZING!!!
Her voice is just SO CRISP and clean! It's like a perfect instrument on a keyboard lol like now dipping or anything just BAM the note. Lmao
I love it!
She’s amazing I saw her on tour in October and just wow
I’m sooooooo in love with her!!!!
The fact that the creatives had her stop doing that riff is criminal.
Me: *is expecting the usual Moon River intro*
You: *uses a different one*
Me: *surprised pickachu face*
Also I'm laughing at the fact that basically half of this video is the final belt variations of "The Wizard and I." Goes to show how much you can do in a role that's been played by many others before.
They were all cast for a reason: THEY CAN SING! That being said, I personally like (in addition to Idina): Shoshana Bean, Eden Espinosa, Jessica Vosk and Donna Vivino. I saw Eden live and she was SPECTACULAR!
Miss Donna Vivino's tone is sooo goood.
those are my favsss
I went to Eden’s last performance. It was great. I got to see her and Megan Hilty together too:)
I love hearing all the different ways a performer can sing the same verse
08:33 Jessica’s tone and precision is unmatched. Her music influences are so carefully incorporated into her sound. VOCALLY, she made her mark and set the bar sooooo high
Rachel Tucker is outstanding consistently, her belts and riffs are perfection. Such an icon!
Jessica Vosk is really, really outstanding. Her technique is flawless, pitch is precise, diction is precise, wig snatched, soul saved.
Hmmm not so sure about that.
Where the heck-a-bob did Alice Fearn come from with that last riff. You can just lay me to rest now.💀
I. AM. DECEASED.
I got chills hearing it
Wig. F*ckin. Snatched.
That was from her last show in London and I was there - honestly the video does not do that justice it was simply INCREDIBLE.
How bout I just sing all the notes?
Idina did pretty amazing on the performance shown here!!! to me she will always be Elphaba just because i think her and Kristin have the best emotional connection to their roles. that being said i think jessica vosk has the most insane belting ever...
My favorite duo is Ginna Claire Mason and Mary Kate Morrissey
I’m recognizing so many faces. I know there’s some people who’ve played Elsa on Broadway or in the movie’s international versions. So good! Willemijn Verkaik sang the German version of Elsa
The dutch one as well. She also played Elphaba in Germany and the Netherlands
And she will soon play Elsa in Germanys Frozen the Musical!
Alice Fearn is just something else, i wish i had gotten to see her live
I saw her in come from away and she was AMAZING
The fact that she got in trouble was crazy. She said yeah can’t do that so she changed it to feel comfortable and got a note
I'm always going to hear those Elphabas belt their hearts out so much, and all of a sudden, I feel like I can't belt that much, and I actually can't. But the good news is, I CAN belt. I just CAN'T belt Elphaba's high notes.
I completely feel you!! I max out at C5 on my best day and B4 is more my average. Elphaba's range is just insane!!!
Lindsay Mendez will always own Wizard and I for me. It's so perfectly acted and her riffs are great.
That little D5 in Emma Hunton’s 6:25 just ELEVATED it though :O
8:59 I can't get over how beautiful that was
Jessica Vosk is unbelievable. I thought Shoshana and Willemijn Verkaik were my top, but Jessica is just outstanding! Her technique is nearly completely flawless. Of course all these Elphies are amazing, though. Cannot wait to see and hear what Cynthia Erivo does with the role. 💕
uGH i absolutely ADORE riffing on "melt" and also Opt 2 for the very end hits so hard. I do like a few of the Opt 3 for the end like Lindsey Mendez and Emmy Raver-Lampman specifically. but opt 2 just feels so strong by holding out that D a bit longer with a little tiny riff up and back down to it
9:24 this girl's vibratto is AMAZING!
I heard a rumor she can SANG
@@MisterGolightly GOOD ONE
9:23
I like Julia Murney better
Damn they're all so powerful. Desperately need to see this show live!
Danna Paola was an excellent Elphaba in the Mexican production 💚
She was casted when she was 17 and did her debut as Elphaba when she was 18.. she's still the youngest Elphaba.
Hey there! Jessica Vosk's "things I never felt" is actually from Broadway's 15th anniversary performance!
Oh my hearts! I think I may be dying! 😭 Alice, Rachel, Eden and Willemijn... 😭 That's so beautiful ❤️ I can't-
And you included Myra! I love when I see her in your videos! You may be the only one who puts her in comparisons and I love it! 🇧🇷 ❤️
Myra, Brazil is SO proud of u❤️🇧🇷
Donna Vivino has always been my favorite Elphaba. She stays true to the character and sings without straining her voice or riffing too much.
Mine as well, she may not be as famous as others but she's truly an amazing performer
Her with Alli mauzey as glinda is by far my favorite cast
@@parkermurzyn3556 the performance with the two of them that donna's footage is from is easily one of the best performances of the show of all time imo
@@evilbob9970 it's so GOOD their chemistry is next level
@@evilbob9970 is it on youtube by any chance….
I used Jemma Rix's "Things I've Never Felt" riff, Donna Vivino's end belt, and Danna Paola's "team" riff in my "The Wizard and I" Multilanguage video on my channel.
That very last riff ending is basically my life goals in 7 seconds
alice’s final riff will always live in my head (and be the one i attempt in the shower on a good day!)
you can't.... start.... a show..... with this song ... .like this.... it's just absolutely frickin' crazy as hell!!!!!! Unbelievable...
It's just rude, honestly lol
the smoothness of jessica's belts are just so astounding
I love a good optional riff. Thanks for the upload, as always. :)
thanks so much for making this! Everyone has their own favourite elphabas (mine is lindsay mendez) but ALL these actors do amazing jobs with their own charm. One thing they all got common that got them casted is that they can B E L T
This channel is everything to me
Love you 💜
I d be so happy I could belt .
Elphaba in a nutshell
ugh i love ur videos!! every few months i come binge all of ur new & old videos 😭😭 tysm for bringing sm joy & inspiration into my routine
Thank you so much! I loathe the research haha. But once I'm halfway done w the editing I feel really proud of them lol! The Defying Gravity one is coming up next and I'm always finding something new so that's interesting. P. S glad I can help with your rutine!!
Each of those who have played her have made an excellent Elphaba 💚
Jemma Rix deserved a better quality recording. She and Jessica Vosk are the cleanest and most consistent Elphabas.
THIS!
What an exciting video!!! I'm so happy I could melt
I would think that if they’re a good enough singer to be cast as Elphaba on Broadway/West End, they’d be good enough to choose their own riffs. Lol
the director have to aprove any little change
it’s about keeping faith to the original piece! there’s all sorts of rules about consistency and stuff because of copyright :)
9:54 my soul has ascended
Danna Paola fue un excelente Elphaba en la producción mexicana 💚
Ceci fue increíble también ❤️la vi con las dos y fue mágicoooo
Alice Fearn's riff finale is just amazing
Fun fact: The riff Alice Fearn does at the end of “The Wizard & I was originated by Idina!! Here’s a link to a video where she does it! czcams.com/video/6etxTYCBZKI/video.html
cool!!!
Amazing!
But Alice did is so much better and healthier and cleaner. I cringed with Idina’s version. I feel bad for her vocal cords. 😅
@@CountryCowboy008 Exactly!!!!
i just- i just love this channel so much
😘💜💜
lol the Coolidge intro. Love it!
love this wicked content so much
WAIT THAT CUT TOGETHER VERSION AT THE END
Very cool comparison, thank you!
Cada una de quiénes la han interpretado han echo una excelente Elphaba 💚
This reminds me of how ‘Don’t lose ur head’ got added riffs and lines at the end, I can’t remember who started it but one of the Anne’s sung “I’m not sorry” towards the end of the song and it just basically got in, and they brought the note up even higher on the final riff if you listen to like Courtney Bowman’s DLYH or Andrea’s, the ending goes toward that high note and a lot of Anne’s starting doing that.
This is fascinating, but wow it must have taken forever! I would not have the patience. Thank you!!
Holy F that Final Belt #2 gave me chills!
Thank you for appreciating that! Means a lot! Have a great start of the year! 💜💜
@@MisterGolightly Same to you! 🙂
On the final set of "team" riffs you missed that a couple of them towards the end went up to the F.
this was well made, thanks for this!!
Thank you!! 💜
@@MisterGolightly I became a fan a few months ago, and I always love your content! It always brightens up my mood, so thank YOU!!
@@shikaii9912 Thank you!! I'm just seeing this after a long day and now I'm smiling haha!! Really thank you!. It's ppl like you that makes me go on and on 💜💜
@@MisterGolightly I'm glad to hear that! Have a nice dayy
Love these videos
I love Teal! She was my Elphaba and she's SUPER underrated
Can we get some love for Emmy-raver lampman? Like? Shes absolutely phenomenal??? EMMY SQUAD WE SHALL RISE!!! 💚
Ikr? I was blown away!!! Utter PERFECTION
FOR HALF OF OZ’s FAVORITE TEAAAAM
I see Willemjin, I click. I'm a simple girl.
Myra Ruiz 🇧🇷 I’ve seen her 5 times in Brazil!!!!
That last note with an E5 tho. 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
Also “The WizaaaaAAaard” (G4 - E5 - E5 ~~~~~~ D5 - C5 - A4 - G4)
2:12 Rachel originating her 'melt' riff is equally iconic as The Eden... petition for it to be called The Rachel 👀
She's such a power house!
Honestly all incredibly talented women, wow!
My favorite Elphaba singer (not actress) was Hannah Corneauh. After the Wizard and I she got a STANDING OVATION. It wasn't even her last or first performance. I've never seen that happen with any other Elphie. Sure the acting could have improved, but singing she was BEYOND perfection.
Oh, Guruji GoghLIGHT the way! The video is meticulous inspirational, compelling, and musically educational. Much gratitude!
Hey there! I missed you calling me that! 💜
Those overtones at 9:32 are SICK. Sounds like she's full on head voice on a high C.
Alice caught the SPIRIT 10:28 the WIIzaRrrd and IIIIIIII I can’t get that riff out of my head. Took us to church while singing about witchcraft lol
If they fuck this movie up I will melt
Me siento tan tan orgullosa de la elphie de Danna Paola fue maravillosa , Ceci ni se diga fueron las elphabas mas increíbles en español y Myrna en brasil que preciosura !!! 💚💚💚💚
WILEJMIN OWNS MY HEART
3:24 Jackie will forever be my Elphaba 💚
Caissie's MELT! is so funny to me
i can’t even hit the normal team and they’re out there doing stuff like this 😭
9 months later update: i now can :)
Idina Menzel, Willemijn Verkaik and most recent Elphaba Allysa Fox {not shown in this clip) are my favorites!!
10:27 iconic
i have a question, where do you find the clips for your videos? i've looked on youtube for some but can't find any, thanks!
If i’m not wrong he has bootlegs that aren’t available online
Lot's of lurking around the internet. I have rare clips on my other computer that's broken. But I don't have those right now
@@MisterGolightly ok ty!
I'm not crazy about the F#5 featured first. I think it provides great emotion but enjoy Idina's original more sonically. Regardless amazing talent all around and an amazing piece however it is styled.
Saycon Sengbloh, Rachel Tucker, and Lindsay Mendez are my all-time faves. Saycon sings with so much EASY power and warmth; she's never labored and strident. I was done as soon as I heard Rachel's take on "I could melt" the first time. Lindsay is so precise and secure, and her vibrato is gorgeous.
I had forgotten that Emmy had done the role, so it was a pleasant surprise watching her eat it up. I have always enjoyed Kerry Ellis's tone.
Stephanie J. Block is a curious case as Elphaba: I know she OWNS every single one of these notes, but the score somehow doesn't fit her voice at all.
Myra from brazil 😍🇧🇷
I stand by the “Eden’s riff”
Jackie Burns+her singing= 💖💖💖💖💖💖
Idina Menzel: "The Wizard annnLiiieeeee"
ok I NEED to watch Wicked
Yes. please
Lindsay Mendez captures Elphaba's youth and passion so well...she and Jessica Vosk are my favorite Elphabas
Jenna Rix was INCREDIBLE. I also LOVED Rachel Tucker’s riff at the end, so good!!!
Jessica Vosk will always be my favorite.
I love Rachel Tucker's little shivery "ooooo" after "Although I'd never show it" it's so cute and adorable
10:23 i never see Danna Paola's clips in these types of videos ADCSVYBAKJBSJ LA AMO she was the youngest actress to play elphaba and the first to do it in spanish she is an icon
alice fearn omg. she went in 1000% for those last notes
Can you do a who did it better of Rosa's Confession from the Mystery of Edwin Drood
I love your intro, what the song from?
Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany's
DANG
Alice Fearn for me is the absolute best Elphaba Tremendous talent.
Rachel Tucker's spicy growl at 7:45 gives me life.
The longer E in favourite team is definately the best
I love my Donna Vivino!
Ok but come one Alice fearn with that last riff!!
So many of these ppl are Elsa now!
They’re all amazing. Though, Jessica Vosk is phenomenal. You can hear every note crystal clear and the power she has even in a recording that sounds like it was made with a toaster?! That ending is THE ending for me in my mind.
