I really like this guys interpretation of gangster films. No Billy Big Balls ego, claiming how much more violent his time was, just an intelligent review from a real insiders point of view.
Note, I believe Jason Statham was a real market trader before he found acting, or Guy Ritchie found him.
He was also a professional high diver for England. There's film of him competing on here if you want to see it. Though in the ones I've seen he messes the dives up a bit n doesn't do great. But still it's a F'king 10 meter platform, not easy.
Guy Ritchie's style of film is a real gift to movie lovers around the world
He's okay
nope. hollywood is trash
Statham was actually a street hustler like that...That's why Ritchie picked up on him...His personality, was what made him stand out...There's a great "the Making of Snatch" Where Ritchie talks about getting all these actors on the cheap. They were basically unknowns.
One of, if not the best British comedy crime films ever! Closely followed by Snatch of course.
In my view Snatch was better. More authentic and I've known people just like every character there. Lock Stock was a bit too melodramatic for me
@@joelhall5124 fair enough, what did you think of Rock n Rolla?
Nick the greek
Gary and Kenny lol
The gentleman is another great gangster comedy movie from guy ritchie.
This wasn't Statham acting, this was his job before acting, street selling, but Vinnie Jones in my book was stand out as big chris
Along with being a high diver in the olympics and appearing oiled up and converting in at least a couple of music videos.
Can't believe there was no mention of Lenny McLean during this reaction video.
UK Gangster films in the main are always Top Notch, thanks Stephen.👍👏💪✊️
Classic fim👌 miss the old markets and the banter with the punters....👍 Topnotch
Such a legendary movie, even though i come up in Liverpool, its all so familiar to me back in the day. This is what it was like, you wheel and deal and do what needs to be done, a game of survival nothing more. Much love Stephen.
Snatch is one of my favorite movies of all time, so I agree that Snatch did a better job as a story
These films always made me want to visit the UK.
Well go on then.
Just remember to get outside of London when you do!
I lived in Whitechapel during the period in which the film was shot. Several times I was stopped when walking to or from work in Shoreditch so that they could shoot a scene. Fond memories and definitely, one of my top ten films.
Thanks for doing Guy Ritchie!
You know scriptwriting
Been waiting for this one, i love Lock stock & Snatch. Keep up the good work Stephen
I was never in the game but the characters of lock stock and snatch ive met going through life. I love the satire of those characters and find guy richie movies really entertaining. 👍
When this film came out I saw it 7 times at the cinema with different mates - at the time we was how you say "living the life" & all thought it was a documentary!!!! 😉
Damn I love Mr. Gillen's commentary on these films. Great stuff. Cheers, a pint on me with love from the Bronx!
thank goodness for closed captions. the first time I saw it I loved it, but I knew I missed many things because of the heavy accent. (and some local cultural jokes.) the second time I watched with captions and I laughed even more.
what no Lennie McClain the most authentic character in this movie stole every scene
Great film never see it on tv anymore always snatch which is another great film
Nice work and good breakdown soldier!
I Love my British Family.!! Real 🎥🍿 movie.! Reality. Forget American cinema 🎥
Lenny McLean. The Guvnor. Legend.
i think Lock Stock was clearly better than Snatch (but I am glad others see it otherwise)
As someone who may have allegedly gotten involved in some questionable endeavors in the past, the thing I love most about this flick was how it showed the smart, educated, liberal middle class growers as entirely different animals from the street types.
" It's called a dog Sol!" "I haven't got my bi--noc-ulars!" Some great lines.
That's snatch ain't it.
@@user-rc6qm7dt4w "who's talking to you, boy".🤣
Love this film!
Thx!! That was fun!
Loved this review . Very articulate in your description of the scenes and not blowing your own trumpet like many of the others .
My question (1 of so many), is, did you ever meet/have a pint with The Guv'nor Lenny McLean? Great vid Sir, regardless of your background (so many questions) you can read a film so well.
Have to say, Lock, Stock, is my favourite Guy Ritchie film 📽️ absolute classic 👍🏽
interesting stuff! love your vids stepehen.
Stephen, you remind me of a young British version of Robert DeNiro (just look wise) 😂
Did you ever meet any of the Wembley Mob by any chance ?
100% Robert DeNiro lookalike. Thanks for the context, Stephen! Legendary
Great review.....I really enjoyed this film. It was very interesting to see your perspective on it.
You are looking sharp as always. You described the film as a professional critic. Please review The Gentlemen to check how authentic it is.
U should react to "nil by mouth" stephen. In my opinion the best uk movie ever made. Not exactly your typical uk gangster action movie but what a way to set a scene! Another one would be "love, honour and obey" to me the two most underrated movies out of the uk
Yes!! Nil by mouth is unbelievable, some of the best acting I've ever seen.
Ray Winston and Kathy Burke are in both these top top films
@@johnwilson783 They work well together, also Nil by Mouth had Laila Morse (Mo from Eastenders) who is Gary Oldman's sister.
Yeah NBM is hardcore.
The funniest part of love honor and obey I Ray Creed (Ray Winstone) shouts out "fix bayonets"when the shooting eases off
Soundtrack is very good. "ROCKENROLLA" is very good, too! Great soundtrack.
The Gentlemen is very good, too!
“Keep it moovinʼ on.” (repeat ad nauseum)
Interesting that you didn’t mention Lenny McLean’s performance. He put in an exceptional performance. I loved the interplay between Big Chris and Barry the Baptist
Great stuff pal
I love this film 😂
Sounds like terry tibbs from phone jacker
Good point on the scoring
So good~~~~~😊😊😊😊
Great review fella, what about lenny mcclean though? Did you know him at all?
Stephen, Samson is Ok your reply to me the other day. Thanks.
Very good film this and snatch from a fast paced multi facetted comedy crime point of view, what's guy Ritchie doing now?.
Stephen, can I ask if you've ever crossed paths with Davy Hunt? Or Kenny Noye? Both men are well known and highly regarded in your field. I just wondered if you had any interesting stories of paths crossed?
The Adams from Islington are/were also proper top draw no messin gangsters, ever have any contact with those guys?
What I can say is I know a lot, and most of the names you've mentioned. I don't delve into things that would cause problems people, that is their business & the past is the past for us all. Glad your enjoying the content 👍😊

an, when is this guy going to write HIS ovie? He's got a good understanding of screenplay.
Very unlikely this dude hasn't seen it and knows every line
You ever met Lenny
I liked this one better then snatch
Did he take a film class in prison, and that is why he thinks they brought an "ex-gangster" in to break down film and not comment on the crime aspect of the show?
No I'm a CEO of a successful international media/film & TV company at roarmediacreative.com
@@stephen.gillen All meaningless when the video is labeled as ex-gangster talking about a gangster movie. It isn't called ex-gangster, now CEO of blah blah blah, reacts to Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
