This afternoon we spoke to Dennis Hopper, a San Diego youth-now one of Hollywood’s most successful actors. He was at Shelter Island Inn, where a mermaid lounged beside the swimming pool, and Hollywood’s idea of sirens from outer space paraded around while Hopper helped a couple of more conventional mermaids out of the water. All this called attention to the opening Wednesday in San Diego of a science fiction picture, Battle Beyond the Sun, and one about a mermaid titled Night Tide which features Hopper.
Harold Keen asks the Helix High grad if his San Diego acting experience served as a good foundation for his career in Hollywood. He praised the Old Globe and La Jolla Playhouse calling the experience “invaluable.” At the age of 26 he had already been in ten or eleven movies and about 150 guest spots on television. This rare interview is a treasure. He is delightful and charming-so very kind and open to Mr. Keen. He graduated from Helix High School in La Mesa, California in 1954.
Dennis Hopper played the GREATEST Villain in Speed
And can’t forget about his hood classic “Colors” RIP Hop 🙏🏾🕊

Blue velvet
These old clips are awesome please keep posting more
Will do!
@@cbs8sandiego I also really love how you post the obviously vintage descriptions of the clips, that really adds to the experience
@@jasminespencer3992 it's so fun seeing the script books from way back when--writing style was a lot different back then.
@@cbs8sandiego Yes you can tell when you read the description, it’s obviously copied from a vintage summary of the clip. Sadly CZcams recommended the video of Dennis Hopper getting his star on Hollywood Boulevard which I think was near the end of his life, Such a dramatic contrast from the young man to the old man
In spite of his reputation for excess he was a very articulate and intelligent guy. RIP Dennis
I really enjoyed Dennis Hopper.
I particularly enjoy him speaking out of character while he is so young and uncontaminated. Thanks Dennis, thank you twice
2 best movies that Dennis Hopper made was "Easy Rider" & "Blue Velvet" ... my opinion 😊.
Loved Dennis Hopper
And Out of the Blue (1980) with the late Linda Manz
I love my town😎
Because you live off the tax payer? Been here for several years and never seen you work. Happy living in a shed?😂
I watched Night Tide last year. A very good low budget film. Hopper plays a Navy sailor.
Rebeal Without a Cause from 1955, one of the Gang Members
Rip mr hopper
He straddled the biggest Generation Gap in history and gave voice to some of its struggles. You can see it here where he is interviewed by a " square" reporter which Hopper answers in role. later in the day he would be smoking some pot, reading Albert Camus, playing Etta James records and tinkering with his latest Olympus camera. Smart fella.
Legend 🏍️
Is that Raquel Welch at the end?!
LOL No You dont' know what Raquel looks like? Raquel had a lot more hair.
I think this was filmed at the Kona Kai Club
Shelter Island Inn--see description--original script.
@@cbs8sandiego Got it , Thanks.
