- Sky News host Rita Panahi reacts to a group of American college students failing to answer a basic math question during a street interview.
In the video shared by Akua.Dora on Instagram, students were asked to answer 15x4.
All the students confidently answered with 48 despite the correct answer being 60.
“Though the college kids are indoctrinated about systemic racism, they don't seem to know too many facts including some very basic mathematics,” Ms Panahi said.
“I sincerely, sincerely hope that was a setup but I fear that was not.”
Dylan is a reason why we need more mental hospitals.

see, the problem is anyone who doesn´t realize what this video is doing honestly has no common sense, or sense. The media isn´t here to tell us the truth, the media is here to make money. Politicians are not here to make things better. They are here to make money. Then we have the political people, regardless whether they support the democratic party or the republican party, they are all naive, gullible and easily manipulated folks. They are controlled by the media and politicians. As an example, you have conservatives and liberals fighting all the time, despite both wanting the same thing; safety, a better country. Why are they fighting; because politicians and the media make videos like this with an agenda, to give one side what they want to hear, not the truth. The media and politicians want internal fighting, they want the people fighting, because that is good business for both politicians and the media. Political people support their partys like a sports fan supports his team. The politicians and the media know exactly how to play people like you, because you are naive, gullible, easily manipulated. You are their perfect human, easily controlled, no thoughts or beliefs of your own as you only repeat what they say. You don´t even have anough thoughts of your own to realize you can interview 5000 people and always make a video with 5 stupid people and then say all chinese people are stupid because that´s what they showed you, 5 stupid chinese people. They didn´t show you the 4995 ones who had common sense. That would not do well for their agenda. And people like you suck it up, nothing more than followers, all of you, liberals and conservatives. Easily manipulated, gullible, naive, followers. Or as they use to say; a bunch of suckers. And that´s why nothing will ever change; political people don´t want to hear the truth or know the true facts, they just want to hear what they want to hear, which is what politicans have convinced them. I graduated High School in 1970, back in the day before calculators as we use slide-rules for math. A Ti-80 was too expensive then. Now a $10 Calculator is more powerful.
I still know how to do square and cube roots on paper without a calculator.
To be able to buy a TI-80 in 1970 you did need a time machine anyway.

I graduated high school in 1963 and still use what I learned in Math, English and History. I can't believe what young people don't know today. Not only reading, writing and arithmetic but also "life". Handling experiences as they arise.

It happens when you don't even check the price in the store. I always calculate my final price and it helped me to not forget basic math even after graduation. Yeah, I don't remember many formulas anymore but at least basic math stayed with me 😅😅

I wasn’t the best at math during my days in school and even hated the maths class. But even I could answer the maths question and the really funny thing about my IQ is it’s classed as average.
Several years ago, I was buying a paper and a Danish, both were priced around a dollar each. The young clerk told me my total was over $4. I stated that total was obviously wrong. She kept looking at the register display and the printed receipt. Back and forth and forth and back. I sighed and told her that she must have erred when she entered the prices. She had a puzzled look on her face. I finally said how could two $1 items with tax be over $4. The old GIGO comes to mind. I see things have not improved any in the meantime.
Garbage in garbage out. This happens regularly in the UK when there is a mistake made at the point of sale. Simple, everyday arithmetic skills are entirely absent in the mind of the sales assistant and they become completely lost. I’ve actually been told to come back later when the machine is working because they could not work out how much to charge for a £2 coffee.

Unfortunately, rather than possibly cause offence, the rest of the us seem to be expected to tolerate, respect, and even celebrate their dumbness.
When i first started college over 30 years ago, acceptance was hard, you really had to prove you could handle the workload and were competent enough to meet the basic requirements, which back in those days was much, much higher than today. Today, you have too many people getting accepted into college who can barely read, and they get accepted based on their qualifications for FASFA or racial identity, instead of actual merit and ability. Now, you have a huge group of people who are failing college because they were not competent for the materials. We see more people people today unable to do math at middle school level attending college and are well on their way to failure. The internet did not help either or cellphone use, people are more distracted and less interested in actually learning. Its a mess, but the only people who will pay the price are the young people of today, they will have to deal with the failures of the system, and if they dont fix it and start implementing stricter codes of education, they will set their entire future for failure.
Oh that's why these colleges have gotten so expensive the last 40 years, because the government will give a student loan to anyone with a pulse. That's just free money to the colleges, so they expand their acceptance standards so they get a certain percentage of kids who will stick it out for a year or two before quitting. The college doesn't care if they graduate or not because at least they're getting that student's government loaned tuition for two years. If DC would start rolling back government-backed student loans the situation would correct itself after a few years.
In the 1960/70's, in addition to getting a correct answer, my state university graded written answers on English usage and spelling.
We should fire all of their teachers from 4th grade until now. HOW IN THE XXXX DID THEY GET INTO COLLEGE? OMG.

It’s scary, I’ve had to calculate change for a cashier. Computer was down and she couldn’t calculate what cost was and how much she owed-me back. I could have told her any amount and she would believe me. I told her correct numbers, not going to be that guy, karma has a habit of paying you back for crap like that. SAD times. You don't even need to do basic mathematics to figure out 4 x 15. Four quartes of an hour is 60 minutes, each quarter is 15 minutes. Bring back teaching how to tell time on an analog clock.
