ABOUT
This is a new video series on this channel called learn Russian with movies. For this lesson, we’ll be using the trailer for the movie Frozen, part 2. It´s called "Холодное сердце" in Russian, literally "the frozen heart."
First, you’ll watch the movie in Russian with Russian subtitles. Then, we’ll look at each phrase individually. I´ll read it to you in slow Russian a couple of times, translate it into English and explain the most difficult words and phrases. Finally, we’ll watch the movie in Russian again. By then, you should be able to easily understand most of the dialogues in Russian. Let’s begin.

to me, this is the most useful way to improve my listening-and-comprehension skills.
A video like this suits beginners as well as upper-intermediate students.
There are millions of tutorials about grammar, simplified Russian and what have you but this is the first one that really tackles the problem of "living Russian" in a simple and extremely effective way.
I can't find the words to express how impressed I am. Well done!
I hope many others will share my view.

Thanks Feruccio, I really appreciate your feedback! I´m going to experiment with this format in 2020 and release a couple more lessons similar to this one. On a scale from 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest), how useful did you find grammar explanations? I assume it´s annoying to pause the video all the time to read them, moreover, they take too much time to make. So, I´m not sure if it´s worth it to create them for the next videos in additional to Ru / Eng subs and slow Russian. I would appreciate your input on this!
@@BoostYourRussian even though my listening and comprehension is at an intermediate (slowly going to an advanced) level I can assure you that I read every single note you made and hit the pause button at 80% of the sentences without finding it at all annoying.
Grammar notes are useful but, of course, time consuming for you, in the end they're not crucial for the effectiveness of this kind of tutorial. What's important is the Russian text with a clear translation and a literal translation in brackets if needed.
@@BoostYourRussian I give you a 10. Perhaps you could offer some brief explanations here in the comments if enquired to do it. But you're right. The quicker, the better.
@@BoostYourRussian thank you for making all these videos! They are really helpful for beginners like me. I'm not sure whether others share the same view but short scenes with translations (maybe just 3 - 4 lines) in a scene are also good! Prob even better for us beginners cuz it will be easier to digest :D

I'm new to learning russian and this seems so helpful, I'm saving this for when I'm more comfortable with the alphabet and basic phrases though 🤣 it is an amazing and entertaining way to learn and pick up pronounciation quickly

Love all your content to help me as I'm struggling to learn Russian , you make it so interesting I don't even want to stop at the end of the video, I just go on to the next one, just so long as it's made by Kristina!! Honestly I think I probably would have given up and quit trying to learn to speak Russian several months ago , but I found Kristinas videos around the end of 2021 and I look forward to getting on CZcams during my lunch break at work now and practicing my grammar and pronunciation with Disney movies and putin etc. Thank you for what you do, I recommend u to others who say they would like to learn Russian too all the time!!!

I found this very helpful. I didn’t have to stop the video at all, but I shall return and put the new phrases onto flash cards - I am using a Leitner box system (actual flash cards and storage boxes) and driving the vocabulary home with spaced repetitions. I am an older learner so this works well now that my short term memory is not as good as it once was. I also continue to make extensive use of your News in Slow Russian - which I have now printed out and annotated in large files. I really appreciate your painstaking work - thank you so much for your efforts!

Very interesting narration and explanation in slow motion! The cartoon goes very fast and it is necessary take pauses so as to understand the words spoken! In my opinion, this movie is not for a beginner but for someone with some basic russian knowledge
