    Good question, you certainly have a unique issue. Our best advice would be to take apart the device again and make sure all connections involving the touch screen digitizer are securely in place. It sounds like the added pressure from the case is causing an internal component to malfunction. Best of luck!

    Very Helpful video, quick shipping on parts. Parts look top notch and I successfully repaired my phone. I would suggest a close up to show how to split the motherboard section from the frame. The video makes it look easy but it was hard for me to find the proper crack.

    sorry to say but im doing this myself to my Nokia Lumina 920,, I dropped my phone by mistake and my screen is shattered on the corner,, so I went ahead bought a screen with digitizer. While following these instruction removing the last 3 screws,, its not a T3 bit,, its something smaller and now im stuck, cause I don't have a tool that small,,, Great !!

    It's common during repairs for internal components to become dislodged or loosened. Make sure all the connections involving the touch screen are securely in place.

  • @Repairsuniverseusa

    It's possible the case applies extra pressure on an internal connection that is perhaps loose or improperly reconnected. Does the phone also stop working when you apply pressure with your hands?

    Well I got it off that same night by using a small vise grip. Being real careful got the vise grip on the torx bit head, slowly turned it as its not really tight. I did that with the 2 out of the 3 torx bit. the other torx bit by itself it didn't need to be removed, then just gently pry off mid frame and mother board. other than that the instruction is on point

  • @jeffandtona
    @jeffandtona Před 8 lety

    I only needed to get in far enough to reach the sensor and front camera. I did NOT need to remove the T-2 (or T-3, my smallest torx was a T-4 so wasn't able to get them out anyway) holding the circuit board to the chassis. I never got the frame fully separated from the screen, but got it apart enough to get a lens cloth and air can in to the sensor and lens. SUCCESS, my screen now stays alive until it is actually against my ear. Thanks Repair Universe. #lumia920dust

    I thought about trying that but in the end I ordered a t1 and t2 driver and the t2 fits perfectly. As you say though, they aren't tight so vice grips would have worked without too much bother. I just wanted an excuse to get more tools!

    Please remove the part where you rip off the volume button flex cable. every oke who does it breaks the thing when they replace the digitizer and then the flex cable has to be replaced. Digitizer can be done without taking it off. I know its an assembly video but wow the forums are full of people with this issue and they all watched this video.
    Rest of the vid is great.

      Repairs Universe Yeah, but you didn't update your order, and now I have a useless T3 screwdriver when I need a T2 screwdriver. Super pissed. Now I have a useless phone for a day until I can find a T2 (hopefully) at a hardware store tomorrow. www.repairsuniverse.com/nokia-lumia-920-touch-screen-digitizer-replacement.html This website is WRONG and I have the WRONG screwdriver.

    • @Repairsuniverseusa
      @Repairsuniverseusa  Před 10 lety

      We apologize for the error. You should be able to locate a screwdriver at CVS, Wallgreens, Lowes, Home Depot, or Harbor Freight. They are only a few dollars and come wit just about every bit ever needed. We are in the process of updating the videos now. With over 300 videos to edit and post its a bit time consuming, and takes a lot of man hours to produce, edit and post. We are doing our best to bring quality content for free to our viewers. Your comments help us improve our videos. Please keep them coming.

      Repairs Universe Well, to anyone curious, I checked Best Buy, Home Depot, Radioshack, a local hardware store, and PC Richards & Son. The local hardware store had a T6, but nothing smaller. Maybe you'll correct your error, respond to my contact request, and send me a T2? If you have the Terminator 2 version, I'll take that instead.

    • @Repairsuniverseusa
      @Repairsuniverseusa  Před 10 lety

      We are working on it. Please go to a Drug store. Went to CVS and Wallgreens last night both had the kits in home repair. 4.99 and 5.99 respectively. Wallgreens came in black case with red handle and 24 bits. CVS clear case blue handle and 14 bits.

    I have a strange issue, I replaced the digitizer and put it all back together minus the case. Turned it on and everything works perfect. Snapped the case on and the digitizer no longer accepts touch input. Remove case and un-hook then re-hook the digitizer and it works again till I snap the case on. Ideas? Has anyone seen that before?

  • @antiguanweasel
    @antiguanweasel Před 10 lety

    I tried this repair but had to abort since the screwdriver seems to be too big to remive the three screws at the side of the internal system.
    I also bent the protective flap which protected the connector head of thin strip running from the micro usb port. This flap proved to be extremely difficult to open.
    I put it back together but now my phone won't charge anymore via micro usb or wirelessly.

    • @Repairsuniverseusa
      @Repairsuniverseusa  Před 10 lety

      We have the appropriate screwdriver for your repair at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. Also, it sounds like you have damaged the Charge Port Flex Cable, which we also have available on the site. Best of luck.

    • @antiguanweasel
      @antiguanweasel Před 10 lety

      The flex cable is fine. I had previously damaged my charger port by sleeping on the phone while charging it.
      I diagnosed the problem. Right above the protective flap where the flex cable connects to the phone's internal circuitry lies a smooth copper plate. I ASSUME that this is the wireless charging apparatus since a smaller black flex cable meanders away towards the battery from underneath thia plate.
      I may have damaged/displaced something in that area.
      I'll check your site out.

      ***** If the copper is broken or damaged it will not function correctly. There should be a connection that touches the copper plate. See if there is something that is stopping the process.

    I don't want to take apart the whole thing.. I just want to know how to safely take off the screen so that I can replace the adhesive with this new adhesive tape I bought. How do I just take the screen off?

    • @Repairsuniverseusa
      @Repairsuniverseusa  Před 9 lety

      Using a heat source to loosen the adhesive will be required. However, removing the LCD and touch screen will be very difficult without causing any damage.

    • @ACRoomReviews
      @ACRoomReviews Před 10 lety

      As per Nokia let the Bolt and Gear spin away until the phone shuts off from low charge.. then plug the phone into the charger and let it boot up on it's own with the charger connected. Try this see what happens.

    Its strange that in this video, you say T2 and T5 screwdrivers are required. But all lumia 920 glass + tools kits come with pry tools, a lens and T5 and T6 screwdrivers. I guess they are worthless...

  • @OCNEvenger14
    @OCNEvenger14 Před 10 lety +2

    You sent me the wrong goddamn replacement digitizer. The ribbon cables were on the top of the screen of the new glass, while they should be at the bottom. Now I have a phone in pieces waiting for CS to reply. I understand mistakes happen, but this is not looking good on your part.

  • @sergeich888

    Bullshit. Don't remove the on\off, volume, camera flex cable. It's not necessary at all. It's very easy to break or tear the cable while removing.
