    I've also learned some more tips on how to better teach the process of rolling sushi! If you have any questions about the sushi rolling process, feel free to leave me a comment and I'll give you a response as soon as I can.
    If you have any questions about this process, feel free to ask your question in the comments below!
    Here's the equipment & ingredients I used in this video:

      1 US cup of uncooked rice makes 3 inside out rolls (with the rice on the outside). I don't recommend just making 1 roll at a time, as it take a long time to cook the rice, prep the ingredients, etc. Also, most rice cooker have a minimum amount of rice they need in order to cook properly. You could make the rice on the stove, but your results will vary when you cook that small of a portion.

    In California, where I have lived for the past 35 years, we used real shredded crab salad not fake Krab. I've only seen that in grocery stores. There is a HUGE difference between the tasteless Pollock with it's red dyed strip and real crab. If someone is worried about cost - it's not that bad and it's worth it.

    Hiroyuki Terada keeps the avocado inside the skin, and uses a butter knife to slice, and scoop each section out. Works great, and keeps the avocado somewhere safe, with less oxidation occuring.

  • @valeriecoleman2524
    @valeriecoleman2524 Před 5 lety +1

    Thanks for the tips! I realized after watching this video that I could have made a few things easier on myself when making California Rolls recently. I used cooking spray instead of water on my hands, for instance. An easier way to peel the avocado is to use a spoon to go around the rim of the skin and scoop out the flesh all at once.

    • @Secretsofsushi
      @Secretsofsushi  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks! While scooping an avocado with a spoon is faster, it crushes the membrane between the skin and the flesh of the avocado - causing it to turn brown faster. Peeling avocados by hand will significantly reduce how much the avocados brown. 😊

    • @Secretsofsushi
      @Secretsofsushi  Před 4 lety

      The difference is mostly in taste and consistency. You can choose to leave the skin on, but it will result in more of a crunchy consistency and waxy taste. English cucumbers would be preferable if you want to leave the skin on.
