Megumin is probably the most popular character of Konosuba. And the way she speaks Japanese is an important part of her personality. In this video, I'll explain how her Japanese sounds to Japanese people.

Almost any language in Europe beside English has a polite (keigo) and plain (non-keigo) form. English is one of the very few who doesn't. Japanese get's more complex once you add honorifics, humble forms, etc. It's like our politeness languages rules times 10, and with more importance on using it correctly, which can also change as in-group and out-group change dynamically.
Fun fact, thou was originally the only word for you, and it was the plain form when you got added. Since all other languages had plain and polite forms, English wanted to have it too, and added you as polite form of thou. But since British people weren't used to it they had no feeling for when to use polite and when to use plain, so they ended up always using polite form out of fear of being too impolite. This resulting in eventually English giving up on having a plain and polite form, and making the new polite the only one because by now everyone was used to that.

Perhaps in the future you could ask about how Japanese people actually feel about being spoken to in Keigo or non Keigo? I'm a foreigner and at one point i got lost in Tokyo and i asked a Japanese for directions, she was kind enough to show me the way but i realised that in our conversation i swapped between Keigo and non Keigo (probably read too many visual novels), and i'm wondering how someone in Japan might have felt hearing that.
