Hello Naomi! Are you native Chamorro or Carolinian? Well now_ Jamie's one lucky dude, to have experienced your beautiful island, let alone be your fiancée!! That said I was on your Island for 3 weeks; 6-23-17 to 7-14-17, as I volunteered to help, rebuild houses in Kagman 2 & 3, which were destroyed by typhoon Soudelor on 8-3-15. There's still more to be done and I hope to come back after the new year to help some more. We did have 2 weekends off and I got to explore 1st the American Memorial Park for information about the islands history. I purchased & read the History of Saipan cover to cover; then I visited the Last Command Post, Banzai Cliff, Suicide Cliff, Kalabera Cave, mt Tapochau and few of the restaurants. I swam at; The Grotto, Bird Island beach, Pau-Pau beach and Oleai beach. I visited Tank beach at lunch time one day, but no time to swim and basically to much danger_surf & rocks! One Wednesday evening we went on a dinner cruise out of Smiling Cove Harbor and the next day we attained the Thursday night Market, which was celebrating Liberation Day. I slept in a house very near the top of mt. Tapochau ""what a view of the sunrise's and sunsets over Garapan""and I drove, that mostly dirt road up and down at least twice a day. Needless to say ""I Love Saipan and its people!!!""
Can see why you stayed another 2 weeks , what a gorgeous place to grow up . I'm ashamed to say I have never heard of Saipan before . I blame my English education ! But I will be educating myself now ! 😃
Naomi Boyer Hi Naomi I'm curious, does your island benefit from being a territory? Colonialism hasn't really done the world a whole bunch of favors...and your island isn't really even close to N. America. It's so beautiful there. I hope your people don't have a similar story as do Native N. Americans, Hawaiins, etc.
Im from Michigan and spent 8 months there from early aug 2016 to end of march 2017 doing most of the steel bolting inspection on the new casino being built. Absolutely loved my time there. So much rich history with the island that few US mainlanders even know exists. My favorite beach hands down was Tank Beach on the east side in Kagman. Quiet and fewer visitors, but big waves!

Honestly never got to appreciate the Island when I lived there, as I grew older you start to regret things that I should have done in Saipan. Brings back so many memories especially at Kensington Hotel, forgot what it was called back then, but yeah. Brings back so many memories and I hope I get to visit again one day.
Fellow Chamorro here! My dad is born and raised on Saipan, my mom is born on Guam, but back and forth between there and Saipan. My siblings and I were born and raised here in San Diego. I was there singing from late 2014 to March 2015.. only 7 indonesians live there.. im the last one, 7th indonesian.. i have ups n down, but Saipan is really beautiful island.. i met beautiful friends there too.. i wish one day i can comeback..
I used to live on Guam and loved it, but while serving in the Army in North Carolina, one of my battle buddies was from Saipan. After he got out he went back and all I could say was lucky you!!
Growing up in San Roque village, I practically roamed all over Marpi with my father. We hunt for coconut crabs, wild pigs and deer in daylight. I missed swimming at Grotto. OMG, I know Gabriel Boyer very well. His sister Emma and Bernadita are both my classmates. Awesome video. Thank you for sharing.
Man... I remember Nikko hotel being shut down for years. I used to go there as a child to swim in their pools. I am not too sure if they still kept the fish ponds that you can cross with the bridge. They used to have small sharks swimming in them. Oh the memories.

Havent been back home since 04 when I was 12 yrs old! Seeing you drive through San Roque village really made me miss home!! Its the village where both my Parents are from! Even attended elementary school (GTC) there! One day, I hope to bring my wife there and show her the island That I came from!

Do you have hermit crabs on the beach in Saipan? In Guam if I had red toe nail polish on, they used to nibble on my toes and wake me up if I fell asleep in the sun because it tickled ha! Little rascals!
