Could you provide any references for the claim that the advertised supplement has been FDA approved? I haven’t found any online, neither on the retailer‘s website nor elsewhere. Thanks.
What time good sir?
I used to get depressed/anxious a lot but since I've had a few kids and started being active at my church I don't get that anymore - even when something bad happens. Things that would have totalled me before I am more able to cope now. I have community/ friends through church and my family. It's not just support, it's that they need me. They also force me to get out; my three boys need a lot of outside time. I have play dates/ classes I take my boys to and in friends with the moms so we get to have a chat while the boys play, church is twice a week too. I think it's that my life is now built so that it's not just mine; I have responsibilities to other people. I think that's what has been different for me at least and it has helped way more than when I was trying to perfect my diet or my sleep/ exercise and seeing a therapist etc.
Thanks for sharing. That is useful info for me. And I’m glad you are feeling better.
@@shanesawyer5103❤
Responsibility to yourselves and to others, sounds like Jordan Peterson recepy for meaning and antidote to depresion. :) Good for you.
Nice Sherlock. Having kids gives you purpose in life. Who knew
I really like the distinction they're making between low moods and depression. A lot of the internet really focuses on mental health from a disorder point of view, but even totally normal people have low periods and it's interesting to think about how you can do things to minimize those moods or the occurrence of them.
Having low mood for more than 2 weeks is classified as clinical depression
@@scottstorchfanthen everyone I know is depressed
Yo the flipping background actually sets the mood I don’t care how stupid people think it is it honestly is just so good at creating a scene.
I feel like it’s solid advice for people who actually have friends. I’ve reached a point in my life where I literally have no friends. The only contacts in my phone are family members and my work superiors. I legitimately don’t understand how to make friends as an adult.
Hang in there 🙏
@@chrisconover1971 It’s so hard, though.
Shared experience is a great way to start a friendship.
A trip or holiday with a group can help built the foundations of a friendship.
@@concertautist4474 With a group, sure. But where is the group? Who are these people? You don’t typically go on a trip with people you don’t know and that’s the issue right there; I don’t really know anyone.
Yeah man all my friends died and the only people I have left is the last of my immediate family. It fucking blows. I don’t know how to find anything anymore.
I watched an eye-opening jaw-dropping episode on the pernicious effects of alcohol done by Andrew Huberman and went cold turkey quit alcohol .. My anxiety as well as the depression went away within weeks ... I am never drinking again and will be forever grateful for Andrew for that wonderful episode !
Nice!
😂 let’s hope this is sarcasm
@@DimitriTheBarbarian It is very true my man.. Alcohol creates anxiety , Andrew Huberman talks about the baseline , meaning your normal state of mind, when people often consume alcohol even if they may go days without drinking it , because of it's structure to be water-soluable meaning alcohol gets into every cell in your body and does extensive damage , it also effects your mood by getting into your brain cells so your baseline happiness actually goes down as a result of consuming alcohol. It simply means, when you are sober you still get very anxious if you often consume alcohol ..
@@mustafabaris9681 lol whatever. I can prove that eating hamburger is a coping mechanism against anxiety and depression
@@DimitriTheBarbarian then go ahead please, try explaining how it does that compared to the ethanol, specifically in quantities that people drink it and is it the same depressant effect with the sludge syndrome in neurons, how many people commit crimes after burgers.
Exercise, social activities, sleep.. always good ;-)
Tim is a huge positive influence on my life over the last decade - very grateful for his podcast and books which have been like an ongoing MBA - as a high school dropout this has been HUGE for me (and my bank account).
Good advice if you have family and friends 😢
having the shower be COLD at the shower's end helps
Love this, experienced the EXACT circumstance where one of my interests were down but hit a PR the next day and suddenly everything was fine lol. Walking the path.
I went through the comments and seriously being a human behaviour expert I see there is another bigger issue with people before sadness and that is how to make friends...how to communicate with people..how to see which ones are worth the friendship..which are not...I really wish schools teach these instead of regular subjects...
Dope background
Exercise is key. Prolonged feelings of uneasiness is definitely not ideal but some here and there in the short term can definitely be used for fuel in building something creative.
The production level here is incredible Chris. Fair play.
Several week long trips per year with family and friends alone would cure all my depression 😅 forget the rest of that stuff if i could do that.
I’d be a much happier person if I had the money and vacation time available to take MULTIPLE week trips in a year.
Really cool that Tim is on some podcasts as a guest again. He was also on My First Million. Any other ones I missed?

@@jaywon06 over 10 years ago, right? Not recently. I meant recently.
Huberman as well 😊
Well, you are assuming I have that many good friends and able to take time off for several weeks a year. Ha!
Get a better job and be a better friend! Take action pal!
We should stick to cold exposure and movement the rest is a bonus for most.
Ikr. Lol but I can try a cold bath
It’s not you daily weekly or annual routine. Think in decades and centuries!!!
@@Johnnykendall"get rich"😂👌 what a piece of advice.
Love and purpose saved me from possible depression. I experienced super downdays or darknight of the soul. I feel so helpless especially when my children were still young. Because I wanna go to work but no one will take care of the children. That time between being a mom and being a professional I can't balance them.
Exercise is important but it can't cure depression. In my experience too much can actually contribute to it by making you feel depleted.
More than anything you must learn to control your thoughts and find a purpose in life.
Allowing the negative committee in your head to run away with itself will cause fear, anxiety, insomnia and depression.
This is why prayer is so beneficial. Forcing yourself to focus on something positive like showing gratitude for the blessings in your life or thinking about someone else for a change is life altering.
If you are depressed the risk of doing too much exercise is negligible.
@bradthompson5383 You are wrong. I've lived that cycle and seen it in others. People who think they can run their depression away and end up making it worse or injuring themselves.
Some over-exercise. Others become lethargic and do nothing. Some flip flop between the two.
A lot of depression is effected by hormone deficiencies. Low testosterone, for example, is often dismissed as depression. It makes injuries more likely.
It's better to think of depression as a symptom, not a condition, then figure out the cause before deciding how to treat it.
Depending on the cause exercise could hurt them, kill them (heart failure can cause depression) or help a little. Probably a good idea to figure out which ahead of time...
@Zebra66
Anything to excess, to cover up something is bad. If you areexercising regularly doing so will improve things. To suggest otherwise is silly.
@@bradthompson5383 it's silly to claim something is a solution before you understand the problem.
@@Zebra66
I didn't say it's a solution. Don't lie by putting words in my mouth.
And prayer to a demon that commands genocides and genital mutilation is immoral.
100 % correct
These are all really good, assuming you have friends.
What if you're over 50 and don't have any friends? I haven't looked forward to anything in the last 10 years.
Diversity is our strength. It feels right in this context 🎉🎉🎉
Question: use cold showers for a rainy day so to speak or regularly? The latter would lead to adaptation which means the stimuli response of cold exposure lessens over time....
Hi there
I have been listening and watching Modern Wisdom for more than 2 years now, also subscribed for a while now.
I have one piece of feedback only about the CZcams shows, I find the background very distracting and makes it hard to enjoy fully the conversations.
I love the content, however I now consume Modern Wisdom solely in the podcast format.
Please consider going back to the previous realistic, normal, maybe boring for some background.
Congratulations for all the good content you are putting out there
Micro dose psilocybin. Worked wonders for me. I had been on Cymbalta for neuropathy for over a year. And I really didn’t like it after a while. I didn’t like who I was. And it didn’t give me enough relief to justify it. So I went off it. And for months after I was an emotional roller coaster. Mostly just depression. I decided to try micro dosing. And it changed everything for me almost immediately. I was only doing it once to twice a week. I have felt 2 kinds of depression. One is despair. That’s when u focus to much on things in life that aren’t going your way. This one felt chemical. Like I had no power to get out of it. And I couldn’t enjoy anything. I think that’s why it worked so well. Because it changed me on a chemical level. I never even took enough to feel any effects at all. It’s absolutely crazy how well it worked. Anecdotally I know. But I hope people look into it and it helps them. Not medical advice. Do your own research.
what do you do about the despair one
I don't know if cold exposure also includes my girlfriend being cold towards me.😅
It's making me damn sad though.
Hope she realizes that being cold was a response to her parents. She can change it but you two need extra discussion and compassion. Goodluck man

Must be nice to be so wealthy that 4-5 weeks of trips a year are no problem. Working for jerks and never getting time off is pretty depressing. If I got a month or two off every year I would feel better, too. Hey, if you aren't diversified and just work one job (for 10-12 hours a day), find time for rock-climbing? Can we get advice for people who aren't rich?
Word
Maybe not the exact specifics of what is being said here, but the general guidelines have worked incredibly well for me for over a decade and a half. My income bounces between 18-24k a year. I know wealthy can be a vague amorphous term, yet I am somewhat confident that most people in our culture would not consider that to be wealthy. I have worked for jerks. That in itself was cause for low mood. I walked away. There are plenty of ways to obtain a sufficient sustainable income. Another cause for low mood would be always thinking that the answer to what is a sufficient sustainable income for me is “more” or “mine is not enough”.
These clips are like spoiling the full podcast.

You can hang out with friends without drinking and if that's not possible then you probably don't have the right friends or the right mindset and maybe you should worked on that
