That little cemetery along our Main Street is not in the “middle of town”. It was in use as a cemetery from 1933 to about 1964. In those days Nuuk was much smaller. Before WWII, less that 800 people lived in Nuuk, by 1964 the number had grown to about 3000.
The entire town in the 1930s was primarily located around to old colonial harbour, the cemetery being outside on the town area.
The city of Nuuk effectively grew up around the cemetery, which is not in use today. As of March 2024 Nuuk has a current population of 19,800.

The gray house. Below the Church of Our Saviour. Is the house of the Danish State's Ombudsman. Which is the highest authority in Greenland. Who is responsible for
jurisdiction over those areas. Such as the Police, the High Court, the Danish Navy. And the gray house also houses the royal couple when they are visiting Greenland.

It's in the 20th century. Inuit Kalaallit get taste of European/Danish lifestyle and food. And there are no better to wear Inuit clothing in the winter. It is much warmer than the Europeanian cloth. And Inuit cloth is more expensive to get than European cloth.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It's important to recognize the value of traditional clothing and how it plays a significant role in the culture and lifestyle of the Inuit.
