Maureen O’Hara’s beautiful Irish home (take a look round)

  • Movie legend Maureen O’Hara made her name in Hollywood with classic films like the Quiet Man and Miracle on 34th Street.
But for all the showbiz glitz, she felt most at home in her native Ireland.
For many years she had a mansion in Co Cork that she used as a getaway retreat.
The estate is known as Lugdine Park and covers 35 acres of land. It overlooks Glengarriff Bay and has two islands and a private beach. It’s surrounded by woodland and has views of the Cork/Kerry Mountains in the distance, making it one of the most desirable homes in Ireland.
Take a look inside and around the grounds in this video.
O’Hara loved it there and when she had to leave she said: “I have too many wonderful memories of Glengarriff to pick just one. You miss Ireland for all your life when you leave. I miss looking out my bedroom window at the boats coming in and eating at Casey’s.”
Thank you for watching. If you enjoyed this video, please make sure to like and share and subscribe. Don’t forget to turn on notifications so you’ll be among the first to see our videos as soon as we post them each week.

We were also provided with accommodation in a cottage not a stones throw from the house. Lucky enough to meet and conversation with Charles Blair not long before his passing. I’m going back to the late 70’s Maureen was just sixty the. I’m now in my sixty six year and remember as if it was yesterday. Beautiful people in every way. The colour scheme for the home was exactly the same as cottage in the quiet man. Emerald green windows, soffits and guttering with white walls...

He retired in New England and the family grew and filled up New England and moved further West with each generation or two. WE traced the Trim name, of which there were many, whom my Uncle Ernest found and left for the rest of us to find - even more.
With the Irish and French mixed into our line, the talents of each could be identified at each level of descendants It can be a colorful and fabulous journey fit for all ages.

It was a time when there were few overseas visitors so the culture remained undiluted. In the 1960's it was "discovered" and as they say, the rest is history. Maureen O'Hara is one classy lady.

And we did see the Quietman Museum. The cliffs of Moher. We went to three or two places a day. We stayed for 10 days and had a driver. I think I would love to live there xoxo
