Episode 78 of Love At First Scent
This was a CZcams Live broadcast streamed on Monday 6 April 2020. Unscripted. Unedited. Unrehearsed.
In this episode, I presented the Top 10 incense perfumes... or my favourite scents for creating an atmosphere of meditative contemplation. The fragrances I covered are:
Armani Prive Bois D'Encens (at the start of the video)
L'Artisan Parfumeur Passage D'Enfer (at the 17:00 minute mark)
Comme Des Garcons 2 Man (at the 25:00 minute mark)
Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nil (at the 28:00 minute mark)
Tauer Perfumes Incense Extreme (at the 35:00 minute mark)
Amouage Jubilation XXV (at the 38:00 minute mark)*
Serge Lutens L'Eau Froide (at the 41:30 minute mark)
Parle Moi De Parfum Papyrus Oud (at the 48:30 minute mark)
Chanel No. 22 (at the 50:00 minute mark)
Comme Des Garcons Incense Avignon (at the 55:00 minute mark)
    * If you watch the video you'll see I messed up here and brought along the wrong bottle! So, for the sake of completeness, I'll say that I love Jubilation XXV for its combination of spices with incense. There's a real fizz around the gingery opening which neatly latches on to the citrusy elements of the olibanum to create an effect that's both translucent and weighty. Superb work from Christopher Chong and Bertrand Duchaufour.
[All of the perfumes were obtained by me, except the Armani, the Serge Lutens, the Parle Moi De Parfum and the Chanel which were provided by the brands for reviewing purposes at various times in the past.]

Great list and video Persolaise. My favourites are Armani Bois d'Encens and CdG Avignon. L'Eau Froide from Serge Lutens is one of my favourite incense scents to wear in the summer. A real icy blast of incense.

Hi Persolaise, thanks for a great presentation as usual. Serge Lutens L' Eau Froide is the one, of these 10, that I own & love. It's been utterly fascinating & I've been taking notes on the back of a A5 envelope... It is covered in scrawl which I hope will be legible.... So glad I watched every detail for all the evocative nuance in your comments.

This is pure Persolaise again, what an elaborated list! Being familiar with the majority it's a pleasure to learn from your take about commonalities and differences. I'm not fond of the churchy aspect of incense, but some of your favorites - especially the outliers - I will revisit as soon as I get the opportunity.

Couldn't make it to this live stream, but catching it later is just about as good. thanks for covering this genre. It is one of my favorites. I love Avignon and Kyoto. Another favorite of mine is Casbah. Jubilation XXV is wonderful, but unfortunately in it's current formulation, it doesn't last very long on my skin.

You can’t imagine how much I missed smelling incense this Easter when I was watching all the celebrations transmitted live from church in Poland being locked down here in London.I used to hate this scent, because it made me suffocate, but it turned into nostalgic memory when I got older . There’s something about burning incense when it’s warm outside, the church is packed full and you can smell people’s (mostly ladies) perfumes as a they mingle with incense scent.

Dear Persolaise, I admire the way you deacribe perfumes, a different when you talk so much about feelings and character of the scent :) so I subscribed and waiting for every new film :) I am a non professional, freak perfume customer:) far from mainstream:) I love perfumes which are cold with some kind of sharpnes, a difficult to find i mainstream perfumes.

I bought the Comme Des Garcon Avignon incense today and absolutely love it. It smells somewhat soapy to me and that makes me love it more.

I have several vintage EDP, EDT and cologne of 22. The incense is what is missing from the exclusive version, I do love the current but that incense along with with metallic sparkle made it stand apart. Can you tell that 22 is my true love. I have a large collection of scents but nothing compares. I'm so happy to have found a fellow lover of this beauty.
