I'm a 70 year old, smaller man... I also found the last latch difficult to attach. All I do is to turn the kayak on its side, and use my upper body weight to fasten the clasp-- not just my arm. Works every time! And I had a 2022 model which I returned to Tuck--the 2024 has been much improved--from the easier folds, foot rest, and seat!
i actually thought about that. Turning it on the side and using foot pressure
You and your son are doing the best videos I've seen. And you have a lot of good competition. Thanks!
Thank you... We're having fun. It's the best part about this is "forcing" us to get outside and enjoy the time. It works out pretty well! Thanks for watching!
Very instructive. You and your son make a good team.
Was considering an Oru, but for the money, I just ordered two on sale. Looking forward to at least 2-3 seasons. On the heavier side of 250, so will see how it holds up. Don’t plan on taking more than 45-60 minute trips in the water.
I have the Oru... Both Oru and Tucktec are nice but so far I prefer the Tucktec with more testing to go.
Ah! Fantastic! You're right.. The 2024 does look much easier to assemble. Thank you so very much for this vid! It's exactly what I needed!
It's definitely noticeable and improved. Next I'll be getting out on the water
Cool. Great job Eric in confidence building with your son. He sure did a swell job in it's assembly.
Thanks! He's usually pretty good about getting out with me for adventures. And he loves to fish... So this is pretty sweet for him if we can get the practice and he's able to set this up
These have improved so much since i bought and returned mine a few years ago
I love mine... Highly recommend if you're short on space or transport
Sick video. Well detailed! I’m about to hop on my 2024 TuckTec for the first time now. 😎
Did you get out? I'm curious how you liked it?
@@outerlimitless I had a blast! Fishing in the kayak on a calm lake was perfect. I’m going to try to head down the river next!
@@Awongaw awesome glad to hear it. I'm super happy with mine. Literally headed out right now! Have a good weekend
thx. very informative
tho u How do you send pick up both boats and I was listening to see which one was the heaviest and you didn't say
You did say that is of folding is more important than wait so I'm assuming the 2024 one ways more?
edit
i rewound & see u Showed the weight of the older model, the tan one being more
So I guess the new one is easier to fold and it weighs less?
One person recommended doing the two front latches first, then the two rear latches, that was on the older model.
it appears the latches have changed from the 2022- which I have! They are a PIA for sure - need lots of strength in hands.
Latching is considerably easier when you go front-front-back-back
The seats look a lot sturdier too, like they may actually have a bit of back support
They're not bad for support...I like the seats just fine but I might get an accessory seat to really boost the comfort
It's actually a pretty big improvement imo. I'm glad I didn't cave in and buy one already.
Man, I'm excited. I have 2 of these coming this week. I'm glad to hear that the new material is easier to work with. I need the extra energy for big fishes.
I think your gonna be very happy with these... They're great...I love mine. Thanks for watching
Thats pretty kool
These are absolutely amazing if you like time on the river and your storage space is limited. I totally love these kayaks
are these the PRO model or standard?
How durable do you think those folds will be long term . Because that look like something i could use .
These are shockingly durable and cut nicely through the water. As long as your not totally smashing crazy off rocks you'll be fine. They're supposed to last thousand of folds. I can highly recommend these. Just sand and smooth the edges around the edge with some 200 grit sand paper. The edges are slightly square... But yes if you get one you'll love it
@@outerlimitless thanks for the prompt reply. It's got to be midnight over in the states . I'm in Australia.
The Tucktecs are in fact slightly under 10ft. long
I slipped... Yes agree 10 ft
I just got one and sorry to say I hate it. The assembly looks so easy when you guys do it, just can't get mine to come together
@@mattp.4329 you gotta work the folds a few times to break it in
Attaboy! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Good job Pops! Raising him right! My son is 11 and would rather go kayaking on a video game! It's ridiculous. Please keep my family in prayer. My mom is losing this battle with brain cancer. Taking care of her and raising a son as a single dad is a optical at the moment. Powering through! God bless & Godspeed! 🤙🏼👍🏻✌🏼
Wishing you the best! Hopefully everything works out!
I let my son play as much video games as he wants as long as he keeps up with his school work, plays hard at sports and find time for our adventures. If he starts becoming difficult with the priorities over video games I clamp down and limit his time. But as long as he uphold his end of the bargain I give him the latitude... It seems to be working fairly well in the grand scheme of things so far.
Thanks for watching!
Can you put your dog in this kayak?
It would be tight. I guess it depends how big a dog?
It’s 10 feet. Technically just under. Tucktec has never made a 12 foot kayak.
Did I say 12? Yeah that was a mistake... It's definitely 10 foot. Thx for letting me know
Looks like Oru Kayak has a better design
Better is in the eye of the beholder...I have both now and I'm definitely formulating my opinion. You're in really good shape with the Tucktec
It does look better, 100%, but it's insanely overpriced, really has that art school college design look and feel to it, this one is... More practical.
Oru is more focused on creature comfort, looks, and accessibility... For a hefty price considering it's corrugated plastic (again, design/art school origins leaking in). Tucktec is more practical, more forgiving, sturdier... But it looks like a cheap canoe... Because it is - it just happens to do everything an Oru can do a tad bit better.
Oru does have more versions of their kayaks, a couple of beginner models and four more specialized versions with variable additions on each depending on what your use for them is as how much money you want to dish out.
In that aspect, options, Oru does take that pretty big market win over Tucktec.
