"Wait, he still hes mate in 5 with only a few queens?!" -National Chess Master, Nelson Lopez
And can't see basic M2
he looked at the engine
@@ugi062 literally I was shouting "get the queen to h7 bro wthđ"
Mate in 8 with 5 queens as well
How to play customize games like this?
How I can play this?
Can someone help me?
You may have heard of Martin Luther King
Introducing: Martin Losing Queens
lol my name is martin
lol my name is losing queens
lol my name is
lol my name
lol my
In the first game Martin is definitely a paid actorđ
Also: 4:38 i like how Nelson is like a spoiled kid of rich parents in the mall." I want this one, and this one, and ooohh also this one"
I like that analogy
Wrong channel

Not chess simp
I solemnly swear that I am not an paid/unpaid actor.
i would have loved to se an analyse of the last game where you went from 133 to martin having a 133
It's just a signed byte overflow issue. There aren't supposed to be that many points of material on the board for either player so you use a byte or some other signed small value to store the eval.
With as many queens as black had the count went over the max and was treated as a negative. This has the side effect of screwing up the branch pruning as the computer tries to evaluate different moves, and probably explains some weird behavior at first.
For instance taking an unprotected pawn might actually decrease blacks point advantage by making the overflow even more severe.
it might just be because whites pawns are in a position where if enough queens are sacrificed one queen can get in the back rank and start taking all the pawns because pawns canât defend from behind
He blundered mate. The F file probably became to weak and the queenâs could smash trough
kartoffel
â@@ericblair5731 im pretty sure that they use ints for the eval which definitely don't overflow at 133 lol. It would therefore also not affect branch pruning as it evals the moves correctly. it'd be too easy to f up stockfish if what you said was the case.
there is probably another reason. (Toby Marx-Dunn made a fair point)
2:38 Martin with the super GM draw
How do i install this cheess game?
And you have the Seychelles profile picture! Love it
8:15 Your M2 was Qhg7+. Martin can only play Qf7, at which point Q7xf7#.
I always feel bad not being able to find a mate in 2 so it comforts me a bit when nelson fails to do it as well.
Yup saw that
Before this comment
damm this one is hard to spot for me :(
Was looking for this comment lol
2:32 It was at this point when both Martin and Nelsi in their infinite GM wisdom decided to repeat moves as the position was a guaranteed draw.
"of all the games this is the silliest, let's not play this anymore" - GM Martin, 2022.
just love the theoretical GM draw in game one. High level stuff
my thought on the first game is that the position almost forces martin to make "good" moves because the only pieces that can move are his most forward pawns and thus the vast majority of available moves are good ones.

I was super impressed with how you worked out he had mate in x so swiftly, and then I realised the game just tells you in the top left. So now I'm just super impressed with, y'know, everything else.
Martin being super aggressive with the pawns in the first game I think makes sense for a bot with a low depth since "takes with the pawn" is, at worst, a trade, so it probably always reads as gaining in material and thus a high value move. I think that's why he can also usually spot mate in 1 or 2 but anything beyond that he rarely finds except by accident. This would also explain why he's a lot worse with so many queens, because trading a queen for a pawn is something that reads as obviously BAD at a low search depth since he'd need to be able to see farther into the future to recognize the value of a sacrifice, so he's more conservative despite having enough queens that he can probably just brute force tunnel his way through all your pawns with them.

@@SupremeSkibidi Chess Vibes has a video on it
I think it's simpler than that. When you have that only pawns, a large percentage of all possible moves are move a pawn forward or take a piece diagonally with the pawn. Both improve his position. Even if you picked moves completely randomly, they have to be good. Martin is forced to play good moves when every legal move is a good move.
5:17 thats probably the biggest eval swing I've ever seen in a non-mate position +133 to the brinks of defeat -133
The behavior of the evaluator almost looks like there's a numeric overflow going on - the advantage is so large for black that it "wraps around" and gets displayed as an advantage for white. The sudden transition is where the advantage goes from overflowing the maximum advantage to no longer overflowing, and kicks back to the correct (if you weren't playing Martin) "black is winning". However, if this is the case, I'd expect it to wrap around at 128, not 133 (since 128 is a power of 2 and numeric overflow is an artifact of computers' base-2 representation of numbers), so I'm not sure if that's what is actually happening.
@@ryanstejskal1506 It might also be that it's just that the position starts in a way where forcing 1v1 trades is always happening so piece quality is maybe irrelevant and the move first advantage for white is more important?

Exactly 200 points
Seems like Martin doesn't want to lose a queen to get a pawn.

A proof that an idiot with money isnât better than a genius without money
I love the analysis âyeah I was afraid of thatâ after a pawn takes a piece. âThereâs just so many pawnsâ đ
đđđđđđđ I just loved it when you said âI want this one, and I want this oneâ, when you were capturing the pawns!
Martin with pawn:đ„¶đ„¶
Martin with queens:đ„ž
There are very few different moves when all you can move is your front pawns. It makes sense that it plays better.
4:00 you dug a hole for him and he fell in. Lol.
Martin is in all actuality a beast on the chessboard..
its just that he is a pacifist who abhors violence and cares more about his opponents well being than his own.
Lol love this headcanon
Engine: mate in 3
Martin: hold my beer

4:23 this is actually better for having pawns because in this position the both of the pieces do the same thing, and since he has more pawns, he can just trade if all pieces and still have pawns left over for promotion.
checkmate by promotion to a knight is the most based thing i have ever seen
The embarrassment of losing a queen to a palm is too unbearable for martin
Ah yes, the good old palm chess piece
How did you get the analysis board tgo allow panws on the first rank, it gets throwing up errors when I try.
My favorite part: "What is Martin doing?" hahaha.
bro when i saw the title i was like: no way thats possible lol
Eval bar on the third one had a stroke
I have another challage: reverse the last position(give yourself queens) but you need to make Martin win. I think it will be harder than this. :)
It seems that in the last game you actually had a 30-point advantage according to the computer. Does that mean you could beat stockfish with 31 queens?
pawns - max agresion
queens - timid sheep for slaughter
Laughed wholeheartedly at the result of the first game.
It was truly peak Martin. You never know quite what to expect : there's ALWAYS another twist up his sleeve
At this point, Martin is no more the dumb guy at his class
2:38 chess is draw when played perfectly..
Interested to see those M8s by Martin. Curious what lines the computer will take
3-5 moves to get two queens behind the pawns, rest to checkmate the king.
I played Martin myself against 31 queens. I actually lost the first 2 times. Then I realized I just had to advance my pawns together and Martin won't take them.
Martin would lose even against a kingđđđ
Nah he woud get checkmated
When the quad stacked pawns are one of the least cursed parts of the video
@8:13 mate in 2: corner queen to G7; black queen blocks; take black queen by moving from G7 to F7.
"lets get my king more for safety" Eval bar - M6
7:36
Martin can only see an M2 or M1. Anything else (M3 or deeper), Martin struggles to see.
Also, at 9:50, can't you have played c6+ ? You would win Martin's last queen...
1:33 Instead of Nxd5, the best move was Nxh5. After gxh5, Rxh5 and you don't lose your rook.
Martins's king piece do be sleeping around.
8:14 H7 queen was the mate in 2, king can't go anywhere so he must block with the queen
Excellent video the first game made me laugh poor Martin.
Can you beat Martin with just a bishop and a king Nelson? I've seen it done but it does look very tricky đł đ€
8:10 Mate in two is: Qhg7+, Qf7, 7xf7#
8:11 how did you not find that mate đđđ
He should've begun with, "Once a pawn a time..."
the 1st game: When games are played perfectly, It will always end in a draw
How are you able to change the pieces?
How do you have that "bar" set up during the game
I was surprised that Nelson missed the mate in 2 at 8:11
I mean I get that this position is untypical but still...
1. Qhg7+ (Qhg8+ also work) Qf7
2. Q7xf7#
9:50 why didnt u move pawn from c5 one up ?
Many of these remind me of the variant "Dunsanyi's Chess"
After seriously damaging his position with some rows of fivefold-pawns Martin still managed to to draw the game. Impressive. đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
8:11 Qhh7, but noone is perfect
Imagine, the all day âcaseâ between Martin (King) and all those wifes lol
In the queen challenge, the mate in 2 was Qh7, feel free to correct me if im wrong
When the king is a lucky guy đ
how do you do these interactions?
I would love to see somebody create the theoretically worst chess bot. It could be an altered version of stockfish that makes the worst move instead of the best. I tried looking for one but couldnât find it.
One bad AI could also compute are the legal moves and pick a random one. đ
When finding the worst move, does it assume that its opponent will also play his worst move? Or does it assume that its opponent will play his best move?
how can I play custom positions like these ?
All my sacrifices means nothing ~Martin
Martin's GOD MOD
how do you do custom positions bro
5:20 I think I know exactly why the evaluation swung wildly. After that move he's got enough queens on the diagonal attacking h2 so you couldn't stop him from getting in the backline!
this has happened in some other crazy positions too, where the evaluation is so high to one side that stockfish freaks out and displays the opposite side winning instead
nah, it has something to do with the way the eval bar is programmed, the value is so high it goes to the other end and ends up being negative, but it gets corrected after a small variation on the valuation
at 8:10 the M2 is Qhh7+ qf7, Qhxf7#
I like the delayed bongcloud opening in the first game.
So funny when you say, he didn't see it, when it's actually just a bot xD
Solo una cosa ¿porque le cambiaste de español latino a castellano en el final?
3:59 This could be in a chess puzzle
No matter how much more material martin has HE STILL DRAWS OR LOSES!!!!
go martin go!
How do you set it up like this?
In the second match he said the pawns were the reason we didint get mated immediately but it would technically be stalemate immediately lolđ(love your contentâ€â€)
Martin the type of player to play better with all pawns vs all queens
For mate in 2 u just had to go Qh8 to Qg7 then when he blocks u just take with Qg7
Second mate was nice
That was a cute video. :) "How much of an advantage does Martin need to beat a grandmaster?"
How do i install this cheess game?
Where can I play these puzzles?
Imagine a channel where we would be entertained with hours upon hours of top quality chess content... oh, we're all watching it!
Can anyone explain why pawns are favored so much by the engine in the queens vs pawns game? Is it because going first is really good in that position for some reason, or is it just because the engine doesn't want to deal with such a ridiculous board?
Interesting, what is the max count of moves, until mate. With queens vs pawns. Focus to upper right pawn and take material, until diagonal is open. So roundabout 5 moves. No move to decrease velocity đ€
He sacrificed.. THE ROOK!!! the video
Someone beat him with 34 queens while he only had 3 extra pawns
Honestly in the first game I don't think the rating matters, the first set of moves are only gonna be pawn moves, and every move they make will result in a fork. Notice how after space opened up, Martins rating really showed, and that's why he couldn't convert.
The problem with a lot of pawns for Martin is that he doesnt have a lot of choice at the beginning, do he chooses good moves.
He's too powerful.... RUN.
The underpromtion in position 2 really destroyed my body
I suck at chess never tried learning besides basic move ability, so I always lose to people who actually play the game but WOW this challenge to me should have been him winning or at worst a draw every game.
In the next video: same boards, but Nelson with black against Stockfish.
If pawns can only move 1 if they start on the first line if they move to the 2nd line could they then move 2?? To the 4th line??
M2 was queen from h8 to g7, king has no where to go so can only block with queen from f4 to f7, then take qf7 checkmate haha
How do I get custom starts like this?
The first game was a hyper delayed bongcloud
Where do we arrange such a custom chess design? Can someone help?
Can't believe you couldn't find the mat in two! It was so super simple!!!
The tie breaker could be the first position but with eight fewer pawns.
9:50 missed fork
9:50 missed king/check-queen fork by pawn
