- After a slow start to the tour, Phil Tufnell nearly spun England to victory on the final day of the 3rd Ashes Test at the SCG in a most unlikely turnaround. In the process, he claimed his first Test match five wicket haul. @fromashestoarchive1861
That was only his second test. Superb. With a bit better management just think what could/should have been over the next decade.
I always compare it to how Australia handled their talented young spin bowler with clear authority issues.
tuffers you beauty!!
Eng really underachieved in the 90s. They had players like Gooch and Smith in the early part of the 90s then for the whole of 90s they had Atherton, Stewart, Nasser, Thorpe, Gough, Caddick, Tufnell, Fraser, Butcher, Malcolm. Headley , Cork.
Atherton was not a good captain.
Tuffers was a fine finger spinner. Got some crazy revs on the ball.
Very bad decision against Boon. The only thing it touched was his lower shoulder, not his bat or glove, nor Jack Russell. Also David Gower denies Tufnell a hat trick.
How many empty seats?!!!??
