LOL, "it's not a fancy system, it just gets the job done." Great video, I'm glad to see that there is someone actually out there that knows the real -and simple- applications of Southern Mantis.
Hey, Sean, you ever think about how similar to western boxing these Hakka boxing styles are? Boxing also uses deflecting attacks, and body dynamics analogous to "sink, swallow, spit and float".

I starting to think that there must have been alot of Chinese SPM practitioners living in Filipino communities because I see some of the same limb destructions taught in Kali.

That is what I was going to say but the two styles are not friendly with each other.Bruce Lee liked it, he was Cantonese, but Guro Inosanto dislikes this style. The footwork is a bit stiff, it works though. I tried it and the sifu took me every time. ( Don't they all)

I've just stumbled across this and think it's really good. I trained this for nine years and then sustained a head injury at work and was told not to take any more knocks to the head. I might take Yeung style Tai-Chi up again if I can keep my balance. :-) Nice video Sifu Sean. It's too much of trip from Oz to Ireland, otherwise I'd love to have a look.

Hi Ken, if you have Osteo arthritis in your shoulders just practice slow and focus on the transfer of your breath. This will still build power but also maintain your health. If we are not healthy we cannot train. Good luck with your practice.
