They had 6 gods who had multiple personifications. This isnt particularly accurate for a documentary about Mayan gods. Their creation myth was a slightly different and less destructive myth than the Aztec who came much later. Honestly this Doc leaves so much out and messes so much up.

Yeah, this has quite a few things that are massively oversimplified or just made up from third-hand tales told by the Spanish.
But it's nothing unexpected. So many recent 'documentaries' about ancient civilisations spout assumptions as absolutely set-in-stone facts or only look at their actions through eyes solely focussed on today's twisted culture war.

@@Gainn yhea the stuff recorded by archologist I'm inclined to believe especially when they don't make assumptions based on what they find. It's the "reports" on certain details that are said as fact. I'm sure the big bets happened but children? OK slaves again, it's known that they had slaves and that slaves are a possession so OK so maybe maybe child slaves but this was sold as them betting their own children... 🤔

The Mayan were able to utilize the blood urine, and tears of their sacrificed in their construction process. The history of the indigenous peoples in the Americas is much, much older than a few thousand years. We judge the Maya, Aztecs, Inca’s and others on the traces that we find. But when we dig our way from the present to the past, we must know that the Earth is suffering from a cycle of recurring natural disasters. That is told in the Popol Vuh. These disasters create a cycle of civilizations. There are four primitive civilizations. Sometimes mentioned a sun or world era. The next civilization lives in the fifth sun. This becomes eventually a high developed civilization that disappeared 20,000 years ago. Then the cycle starts again. During the first 4 suns the people were guided by alien deities. Also at the start of the fifth sun. At a certain moment in time, those deities leave the people alone. Led by fanatic priests, the people start offering more and more often and from fruits and animals, they started offering children and humans. They knew that after death, new life would occur and they wanted the deities to return. That is how the Aztec are remembered, but once they were high educated. They left us the sun stone, which is a 20,000 years old warning for this recurring disasters. To learn much more about the cycle of disasters and civilizations, recurring floods, ancient high tech and alien deities, read the e-book: "what I know about Nibiru". You can read it nicely on every computer, tablet or smartphone. Just search for: know Nibiru

Beautiful introduction to this amazing civilisation, the world knows so little about it, as this great civilisation was suppressed and demonised by the Christians, who wanted to erase their history and replace it with Christianity. No, not until the 16th century.....
There was no contact whatsoever between the Maya and any people from the Old World (i.e. Europe, Africa and Asia) who would have known of the Christian religion, until the early 16th century
(the early 1500s), when the Spanish conquistadors conquered Mexico, Central America and most of South America.....
By the 16th century, however, the Maya Civilization was long over......
The Classic Period of Maya Civilization lasted from c.300 CE to c.900 CE.....
After that, they abandoned their cities, their temples and pyramids were swallowed up by the rainforest and their civilization fell into ruins.....
But, but during the Post-Classic Period, the Mayan peoples continued to inhabit the rainforests of the Yucatán Peninsula in what is now southeastern Mexico, and in Guatemala and Belize and part of Honduras......
They just didn't have their civilization anymore......
and they would have had no idea of the religious beliefs of people coming from around the Mediterranean and Europe, until the 16th century, because they didn't even have any idea that those people existed......
That is, they had absolutely no idea that there were even continents to the East, across the vast ocean, with all these groups of people and civilizations in Europe and Africa and Asia, just like people in Europe and Africa and Asia had absolutely no idea that there were continents to the West, across the vast ocean, that we now call North and South America.......
But there are still to this day Mayan peoples in Mexico and Belize and Guatemala who speak their indigenous Mayan languages.....
The Mayan languages are actually a large family of closely related languages.....
Most of them are Catholic and also speak Spanish, but some are even more comfortable in their native Mayan language than Spanish!
