- There’s a lot to learn from a group of people by the way they put together their meals. The ingredients, cooking methods and energy they apply into feeding themselves extend beyond nourishment, with their culinary skills reflecting different beliefs, traditions and habits.
In this video Hakeem Adam of Culture Trip .com shines a light on 10 Most popular Ghanaian Traditional Dishes.
I'm Caribbean American and watch out of curiosity. It's interesting what my family remembers of our ancestors. We have fungi and fish for example. Separated for centuries, but maintaining culture thorough food
I love all ghanaian food but kenkey is something special🥰

Waooo... I loved the video.

Wow, kenkey's origin is Ga Dangme. A dish that goes with the famous black shito, which has been adopted across the country. I will pardon you as a Ga dangme woman as you sound non Ghanaian so we are teaching you. Famous KOMI KE KENAM. The typical Akan diet consists of fufu and kontomire soup, palm soup, yam, plaintain and kontomire and garden eggs stew.
i miss eating kontomire brooo, missin my ghanian friends too
Beans plantain 😇
And green banaan green green 😍
Rice bowl soup 🥰
Banku talipia🤩
Favourites 💞😁🥳👍👸
Kenkey is from the Ga community just like banku
instablaster...
Ghanaian dishes not which community 🙄
BANKU IS NOT FROM THE GA COMMUNITY. VOLTARIANS COOK BANKU AND FANTES ALSO COOK IT. IF WE'LL BE SINCERE GAS CAME TO MEET THE FANTES HERE IN GHANA WHEN THEY CAME FROM NIGERIA SO BANKU IS ACTUALLY FROM THE FANTES.
IN THE SAME WAY FUFU IS PREPARED BY VOLTARIANS BUT IT ACTUALLY ORIGINATED FROM THE ASHANTES.
@@Gracey_grace. fufu is not originated from Ashantis, it's just that that is favourite or traditional prepare dish. Fufu is West African food with different names, and preparations across the tribes in West African.
@@saanichannel533 fufu originated from the ashantis lol it is literally an ashanti word which means to mash. Google is free😂
Good
Good to know Africa has adopted Indian spices and curry. Can see the Indian influence in many of their dishes.
How is there Indian influence on the west coast of Africa? and not the other way round? Majority of your population have African ancestry so who influenced who?
Great work
1- Jollof rice(with fried or grilled chicken or goat meat 🍚😋
2- Waakye+shito+gari+wele+fried fish +gari+spaghetti or veggies
3- Banku+tilapia(fresh pepper sauce &shito)
4- Beans +fried plantains (gob3l
5-Fufu+goat light soup
6-Tuo zaafi
7-Kenkey+fried fish 🐟
8-kelewele
9-Omo tuo
10-Plantain ampesi+kontomire stew
The video is really good but the history and people behind the food is a total mess. Banku, okro soup and chilli 🌶 is from EWE People south of Ghana. Kenkey is from GA and FUFU is from Akan’s. Please get the facts right it’s extremely important.
For ewe is Akwpene not banku . Ga’s eat corn fermented just as you can see in Kenkey and banku . And also white porridge. The ewe’s don’t ferment their corn before mailing them.
@@weemangideon8795 apkle 😊😃
@@weemangideon8795 😃😃😃 banku( Amorkple) corn flour and cassava dough ( wordeme kple) cornflour balls( Eworkple) rice ball (morlukple) Ayikple (beans balls) Dzeñkple or akplendze etc . Almost all food that moulded into balls are called "Akple "
@@weemangideon8795 since when is banku ewe.💀🤣 please stop before they attack us
Ghanadonia 🛢 region 🇬🇭 Northern region tamale
Well put together but kenkey is a delicacy for the Ga’s and not the Akans but well done!
Fante and Ga’ eat Banku and the Ashanti people eat Kenkey, he was right! All are the Akan people, the Ga live off the coast like he stated who are those that eat Banku!
@@sabrinabonsu81 check your facts well
Fante people eat 3teo (Banku without cassava dough)
Ga's eat Original Banku.
And Ga Kenkey even the name says it all
@@Travelwithme3841 you do realize there is something called fante kenkey. Gas literally stole the food from us. Thats why ours tastes sweeter.
@@Travelwithme3841 it is also called fanti kenkey
Kelewele should not be on the list.. It's a snack or starter.. Not a dish... Also I not sure if this list is based on the most popular cos jollof is not an everyday meal so can't be number one.. Making jollof is an event meal.. I will rate gari over jollof in this list..
But it’s kinda that good though…
Also I think as far as basic American standard
Red Red. I call it Gas Gas. 😂🤣
Hey make your Videos on tt then you get more likes
This guy said Kenkey is a delicacy of the Akan people smh. It's 100% Ga people
You forgot banky and okro soup
THIS IS TOURING MY TASTE BUDS AND DEFINITELY AGAINST MY HUMAN RIGHT.
Kenkey is not an Akan dish I beg
There are about three different types of Fanti Kenkey
Yes it is. Gas copied the fanti kenkey to make their own. It is calked dokunu in twi
Binod
Please kenkay is a delicacy of the GA people not Akan please
JOROKKKK 🤮🤮🤮🤮
Mumu 🙄🙄
