This album, of all albums, is what got me into punk rock at the age of 13. I'm 42 now and still get chills listening to this.
Yeah I agree with that comment this is one badass album it's definitely up there in the top five all hardcore albums
Same but anarcho and 16
phengs back story really explains why this album has this raw angry passion
same -- saw them live in 82/83 -- bought the vinyl at the show for $5
It's till death man, if you burn punk you be like that forever)
Heil from Israel anyway)
54 and still blasting this hardcore gem. One of the best hardcore albums ever. Punxs4life
DAMN RIGHT, BRO... LOUDER THAN EVER. GIVES ME COMFORT KNOWING I WAS BLASTING THIS AT 13 YEARS OLD IN 1985. Ya done good, kid
55 and remember it fucking well!!!!
Yep past 50 here2😊🤪 & I luv it still !
Gonna be 53 years oldyoungwhatfuckingever later this year, and it gives me a big Pleasure and Gratitude to say that this Awesome record is still one the best EVER made both musically AND lyrically.
57 years old and I still love this shitt
One of the best hardcore punk albums ever
Probably 1 of the 20 greatest hardcore albums ever? You know it, mate. Listen here for 24 minutes and you'll hear 4 boys in 1984 from Berkeley, California play some of the most powerful music ever. One of the cornerstones of modern American punk music.
How can you be a cornerstone of a genre a full year after it was dead? By '84 they were merely imitating
Bought this album is 1984/85....this was the closest America ever came to a domestic Discharge-esque band. True d-beat
Final Conflict were second closest.
@@piotrb8434 yes sir! I knew them and they were really great live!
DISCHARGE ARE HARDCORE PUNK NO D BEAT REMEMBER HARDCORE PUNK ☠☠☠☠☠☠☠
@@iandarragh6437 yes, but that term as it was used in the US, was not used in the UK. Discharge would just call themselves a "punk" band.
THEY ARE A HARDCORE PUNK BAND NOT JUST PUNK TAKE IT FROM ME I HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO THEM FROM 1977
One of the best punk albums ever. Iconic!
Massively underrated and unheard. One of the best records from 1984 both musically and lyrically
One of the best records EVER both musically and lyrically.
It actually came out in 1983 but yeah fairly still new in 84.
Thanks for upload. Born in 1965 to a failed nuclear family experiment. Punk rock saved my life. We took care of each other, we made whatever we had work, and in order to survive we had to stick together. Those of us still alive are still friends and there was nothing like being there...... that was then and this is now... and it's time to bridge some gaps and generations to do a take down on clown show here in alternate fact universe. I didn't come here to play along, I came to throw the game. Some people were in it for the haircuts and costumes and some came to rock for revolution. The fuse is lit and the truth ain't hard to find. SUPERLOVE
Was trying to figure out what to post on this Easter Sunday, 2016. Finally I got an idea.
Can't think of a better fit than Crucifix and their 1984 album Dehumanization. They began in 1980 in Berkeley, California with singer Sothira Pheng, a Khmer Rouge refugee, and guitarist Jimmy Crucifix. In 1981 the band recorded their first 12" e.p., Crucifix. Two years later Nineteen Eighty-Four, a 7" e.p. was released. These are fine efforts but they really hit their stride with Dehumanization with the four boys crushing out one of the all-time great hardcore albums.
The lineup for this album was Sothira vocals, Jake guitar, Matt Borroso bass and Chris Douglas drums. With spiky hair and a British punk attitude, they really delivered the goods. Sothira sings some of the most intelligent and heartfelt lyrics I've ever heard from a hardcore band. And what to say of the music? Simply some of the greatest modern American music.
While the kids in England were listening to awesome punk in the early 80's we here in America were in love with hardcore. Please listen to the whole album straight through, as I just did on my turntable. You're in for a treat. These 24 minutes go by in a blur, delivered with blistering force. IMO one of the 20 greatest hardcore albums.
+willieluncheonette I posted Crass's Reality Asylum on Facebook. heh
Anti-Patriot009 excellent
Fuck yeah! haha
Agree -I remember Sothira!! never figured out the English/US thing -Had that 12"
David...word!
the music, the message, Crucifix is on point. I love this record so much.
This shit definitely stands the test of time, I loved Dehumanization when it came out and it rocks just as hard today as it did back then.
i lost alot of records, but everytime i go to check out a band i like it is you uploading it ,great and much appreciated, cheers and beers shane from canada's decontrol
1!!!!
2!!!!
3!!!!
4!!!!
...hoooo i still get chills listening to this after all these years
One of the best albums ever
This album is up there with Discharge's Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing album. 2 of the best hardcore punk albums ever recorded.
this is so much better hc
discharge is crust punk not hardcore
@@NicolasSilvaVasault They are hardcore punk.
@@NicolasSilvaVasault Discharge is Hardcore Punk/Dbeat.
VALVEGOD666 I agree 110%!
what an album, what a band. I was very lucky to see them play in Nottingham in UK in the mid 80s. They were unbelievable and they undoubtedly changed UK hardcore punk.
iamsime. sorry, can't let this one go... they are a U.K. punk copy band. they did not influence U.K. punk, it influenced them. This is nothing against Crucifix. . I bought this album the day it arrived at Time Travelers in Seattle and wore the freakin grooves out on this album. it is still a punk masterpiece and partly responsible for the whole metal "crossover" that happened shortly after it's release
London ambulance station with dirt and anti sect, mint gig
@@edfastriveradventure I could hear songs off Kill em All that sound like like this Crucifix album. The guitar tone and riffs
I think they definitely had the whole uk82 studs, leather and spiked hair look but musically they were so ahead of the game with the time changes that were typical of us hc bands at the time. The urgency of their music and in particular this album blew my 14 year old mind - now I’m 50 and it STILL gives me goosebumps☮️
Interesting to see that a fan from Seattle says they're a UK influenced band and a fan from the UK says they influenced the UK scene. Cool
My uncle gave me this album when I was about 12 (1986) - It changed my fucking life!
Your my age. Yep. This stuff changed the way I hear music. Kids these days think Slipknot is tough.
@@billydeewilliams9104 I love some Slipknot but there are bands that out them to fucking shame.
@@mkproductions2.042 I hear ya.
lol i accidentally discovered this punk band, just looking for a brutal death metal band and ended up here, but i'll stay
+Nicolas Silva I was on a grind/crust/d-beat quest, but yeah...as long as it's vibing, right? ;)
good choice
check out the void
hell yes.hidden gems are great!
There actually was a brutal death metal band also called Crucifix from Denmark. Back in the Napster days (dating myself here) a few of my buddies and I found out about them when looking for punk Crucifix's songs. Both bands rip!
So privileged to say I saw them unload this beast of a release live when they toured it and still have the ticket to prove it. I had the album long enough to play it plenty and found the live show remarkably true to the release. With Sothira in fine form, this band absolutely blew the roof off with their delicious D-beat monster riff sound attack. Boys and girls, this is the stuff of legends!
Being a HUGE Discharge Fan, I wore this one out. It was a beautiful combination of SoCal HC and the HC that arose from the UK across the pond.
The first US anarcho punk band, joined the likes of Crass, Rudimentary Peni, Conflict, Chumbawamba, Flux of pink indians, Amebix, Antisect in influencing this young british punk in 1984
54 and still blast this ..... METAL/PUNK 4 LIFE.
Fukn love this, I missed out all these years,,,thanks for posting Rick !¡!¡

Saw them in Montreal in 1983 8D ! One of THE greatest shows I've ever witnessed :')
They were awesome when I saw them !
A Masterpiece! Crucifix rules! Cheers from Brazil!
One of the best hardcore albums from California. 🤘🔥
21:16 STOP TORTURE BACK IN 1995 FUCKED MY ROOM UP PLAYING AIR GUITAR TO THAT BREAKDOWN.
Top 10 Punk Hall of Fame bands hands down.
For some reason my local record store had a copy of this on the shelves back in the 80s. In Knoxville Tennessee for crying out loud. It was some time after I'd sneaked into a TSOL show downtown. I bought it and brought it home and it shook the walls. That bass tone!
Nice!! I just discovered these guys and I love this!!
Van Der Graaf Generator, nice...
Had the original press of the lp. Was friends with bmije, guitarist for this album back in the day. Was mad jealous cuz he didnt even have one.
One of my favorite Hardcore-Punk LP's
+Mirco Bock Definitely!
One of the most essential and important punk albums , should have more views than currently !
1983 ! I still have my copy and Its a true piece of REAL hardcore vinyl !❤❤❤🎸thanks for sharing !
There was a Rockabilly Skinhead at the Trinity Hall gig , and all those guys hated and used to beat up the punks , but he was totally mesmerized by Crucifix , for one thing , it astonished him how fast they played !
It was a fantastic gig ! Late in the night , they were on last ?? , most people had left , they played a blinding gig ! For just a few people who remained ! I being one of them !
This album is fucking power from the first track to the last. Hardcore anarcho punk force.
yep, and one of the best / most relevant bands, along with Iconoclast, Another Destructive System etc...
Excellent album, got it, my fav track has always been Preudice
The best ending to any album....Ever made
Fucking love this LP and I am 51 now. First heard of them around 1990. I still listen to a lot of HC/Punk/Goth/Metal/Crust/Doom but they're on there own divivion, Crucifix. The rock'n'roll thingy , they have it...
This is like the missing link for me. Coming back into the lifestyle, it's good to have access to music
Like this. Thanks
Can't wait to see them play this Saturday!!
I know it was four years ago ! But I envy you !! I saw them live !! Truly special !!
This is awesome!!!
Excellent band. Excellent post.
The best hardcore album ever recorded...yep probably. Another Mouth To Feed the best song from the era? Most definetly.
No, just a Discharge clone.
original Platte in der Sammlung.....seit ewig mal wieder gehört, sehr geil !
ebenso!
I saw them at Trinity Hall ! , there was about 5 people in the audience , but they were awesome !! ( the reason there wasn't many people there was because there were many bands playing that night , and they played near the end and a lot of people went home , well they missed something quite special ! And putting them on at the end is an insult for such a great band . Perhaps they arrived late ).
punk/hardcore hall of fame 100%
De lo mejor...hardcore rápido, furioso y con mensaje ...mexico presente
One of the best albums to come outta the states.
Still have my vinyl. This album influenced my playing quite a bit and the lyrical content opened my eyes/ears as well.
For me the "best" punk Lp in the world...
Yes !! It has a very good chance !!
Great album...bought this one in my local record store for 2.00...best buy I ever made.
Actually learned this band by a maximum rock and roll compilation...such a great and original time to be alive...
Clockin in at 58 yrs old, had this album when it came out almost 40 yrs ago. Doing multi department expense report to it now 😄
Dude - 39 year old 90s punk scene grad compiling my digital marketing figures for the month. Perfect soundtrack.
Simplemente, muy bueno!!!!
For a discharge style band crucifix is surprising catchy.
Powerful band, understandable message. Saw them a number of times in San Francisco back in the 80's. The brats and anti-conformists turned conformists to a culture of nihilism made the scene short lived.
flagwaver1969 Ouch
that sucks
Hey cats, I'm 60, I'm literally listening to it now.
Is this one of the best hardcore albums of the early '80s? Yeah, I think it is.
Does Sothira Pheng's timing problem still drive me freaking nuts? Yes, it still does.
His vocal OFF timing makes it better.
Have the original press! This should be mandatory in schools....
This album has a sound that cracks the earth, I always thought they were English, from the UK 82, but I was surprised to learn that they are American
Fantastic album ! Yes . American .
This is one of the best. Guitar sound is huuuuggggeeee.
CRUCIFIX,cest de la BOMBE H!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10/10
Only 16 dislikes ! , and that's probably the Christians , who came here by mistake !
lol
😂
Classic !!
true really true.
fuck yeah!!!!! totally getting this record!
#1 Crucifix- Dehumanizations, #2 Negative Approach- Tide Down, #3 Repulsion- Horrified Nuff Said!
#1 Discharge - Hear Nothing... #2 Death - Scream Bloody Gore #3 Wehrmacht - Shark Attack. 'nuff said!
Agreed.
Good times Us core full spee ahead...those days will never come back....
awwsome
i used to be a kind of roadie for these in the earlyu 80's :) X
Uhhhh yesss legend
This album and Neurosis - Souls at Zero are top produce from the bay
Loved
more love to join us
Seminal HC punk. Get Exhibit A as the perfect complement cuz this puppy is only 25' long and WILL leave you wishing for more! ACE!
Can't think of a better intro
Damn fine acid music.
Ray of today definently took notes on the vocal style
Fuckin` hardcore band! Great album!
2022 puré power
IT'S YOUR CHOICE
PEACE
OR
ANNHILIATION
This band and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds are easily the best live acts I've ever seen. The energy of a Crucifix show in 1984 had to be experienced to even imagine anything like that was possible.
Saw them at Trinity Hall Bristol !
52 and love this album>i was teanager about 14 15 when got this album
I've only heard the A Perfect Circle cover before this and WOW is it different.
Sounds like Germs meet C.O.C.
Great album....mdc fingerprints all over it...
This is awesome, such a great sound take a listen to Siege's Drop Dead released around the same time ridiculously brutal for 1984
Is it just me or does this dude sound kinda like Darby?
Yeah Darby and The Gerns were an influence as well. I have always been a huge fan of theirs and when they’d come into our neck of the woods(Massachusetts), i’d always hang and chat with Sothira about influences, etc. He said the first song he wrote with the band the lyrics were ripped from Joy Division.
Way more on the album exhibit a! Lol
New England chowder!!!
good call -yes. And the whole sound VOID/The Faith. Love Crucifix...... was listening to this when it came out in the early 80's.... Blast it, BITCHES!!!!!
Is that a Don Mc ullen photo ? ( I may have spelt his name wrong ) .
How good is this record?! woooooooo
It's awesome !! One of the best punk albums , hardcore or otherwise !!
Someone post all the lyrics please!!!
Oh, so this is where that X guy got his rant influences from.
X, John Doe was doin' it way before Crucifix. Crucifix more VOID and English.. not CA style IMO
THE LAST ONE I SENT.TEXT WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? WAS CRUCIFIX FROM SAN FRANSISCO , IT'S YOUR CHOICE PEACE OR ANIALATION? ?. 1982. DEHUMANIZATION.
Nao tinha uma banda Suburbio Zero?
Classic
Yeah...48 myself. Don't really need to hear it more than once a year, but when I do, it's as tasty as a single malt Scotch...only gets better
If early Discharge isn't working for you anymore, ask your doctor about Crucifix.
Basically, an American answer to Discharge.
