This DIY curbing has completely elevated our landscaping! If you’ve been following along, you know that we have been slowly but surely updating & beautifying each part of our yard. I love the look of concrete curbing, but is can be super expensive!
I decided to give it a go myself, and I am so glad I did! For just over $100, I have a beautiful, professional looking curb that is now all ready for plants and flowers!
This is only the beginning, so stay tuned as I share more of the outdoor projects we’ve been working on!

Ive been pouring concrete for 200 years. This is better than all the jobs ive done
😂
@@GeneLake001 I know.
Yeah sure😉
Simp
Remind me not to employ you then…
I did concrete for 20 years, and that is a better job than a lot of curbs ( border) i have seen. Nice work.
A little wire on top goes a long way to keeping the top in line without bulging out. 😊
Stiff mix basic hand tools, no need to form

Im 47 years old, ive been pouring concrete for 80 years. My Dad actually INVENTED concrete, and i can tell you ( and i KNOW my opinion is valuable AF) that you did an excellent job!!
😂
Your father must be an immortal Roman engineer
Holy crap
@JoeLiberalism your Pop’s is eighty five hundred years old?
@@svgs650r He doesn't look it though.
Invented concrete... oh kids these days...
I am a carpenter / builder and I was impressed with your skills there ..... well done ! Nice job ... 👏👏👏
Ah, bless you cute southerners who can do this stuff without tamping the ground for hours. The freeze thaw is real up here
Some road base and compaction always helps!
@@Lexidezi225 I was wondering what road base was?
Yes. I was imagining a year out when it settles and cracks in random places. But it is just a garden border. Certainly a lot cheaper than buying concrete units at the big box store and digging out a six inch layer for base rock. The curvilinear form using composite siding is a nice organic look and they spaced the panels very evenly. Most people wouldn't think to knock the air pockets out either.
Psssst, use the stone for the border.
We don't "tamp" anything down here..?
I am concrete. I can say this concrete is better than many concretes i’ve ever seen.
You can use a reciprocating saw without the blade to agitate the bubbles out, just saw that and think it’s genius
Did that for my concrete countertops edges. Worked amazing.
a palm sander without the sandpaper works well too
@@ShawnJonesyou beat me to it!
Most people use a chisel in a hammer drill to vibrate the sides. Much easier and vibrates more than a recipro 😎
I have been doing concrete work for 46 years Now, I am also 46 y/o and this is by far on the best concrete curvings jobs I've seen too.
At 100 yrs old, I’ve stared at lot of concrete and I can’t stop looking at it. Good work
I've been pouring concrete for 24 years. I think I just fell in love with you.
Lol
Explains why you still dont have a woman, you're better off hamging at a laundry mat 😂
Good to see the kids involved. Better than TV or the internet.
Hello, Concrete here. I’ve never looked so good in my life.
Love you guys,
Rocky Sandnwater.
Nice job ladies.
Its a nice depth for planting, too! So many people make floeer beds only 3' deep. Nice work!
I’ve literally been in concrete my whole life until breaking out this morning and this was the first video I ever saw. Unbelievable. Well done guys!!
Brilliant! I needed an idea for easier boarder around my home to hold in pebbles. This will cost less than buying pavers! Thank you for the idea!
Great job!! Would love to see the full tutorial!
I see there is some weird glitch with my CZcams app. When I select the description box it’s blank but after tapping on the empty space the link to the blog pops up! I see it now. If any one else is having trouble seeing links maybe try tapping the empty description box and eventually the actual caption for the video and description pop up.
I’ve been pouring concrete for 68 years and you did great
This is likely in a region with minimal freezing. Those in colder regions will need to install their curb deep enough to prevent heaving.
Well done 👏. You both rock🎉
I want to see the finished result. Your teamwork is excellent and this will be a project you’ll remember doing together for years to come. 😁👏
🎉❤ Awesome job .. for the
expansion issue / bricks
placed exterior the form
may reinforce
As a concrete youtube channel we will say this is done pretty darn well. Looks awesome!
You girls are hired. Let’s go. 😊
I rememeber doing this with my dad when I was a little. We did a short one and I was in charge of placing rocks along the top for extra decoration. My mom still has it in her yard today, it's a nice little reminder of him 😊
Thank you for breaking down the prices, we just need to add the cost of the wheel barrel, the clamps, the Trower used for edging, hammer/mallet, the little wood stakes, the shovel, oh amd the materials used for breaking the ground. Vidoes like this are why entitled people then think they can just call a concrete company and expect to get the same thing that you and your family spent hours working on, for the price of the materials you mentioned.
You did an amazing job, thank you for sharing the prices, maybe also emphasize a little on the materials you already had, and the time it took to complete the project so these Karen's can stop calling companies and expecting a project like this for $100 😅
It's crazy the amount of tools people don't include in the required materials list to make things seem easier and cheaper than they are. Enthusiastic laborers to help, as well as the required storage space to put all those tools away, and entire day worth of free time won't be available to most people besides the wealthy.
Forgot the levels, saws, squares etc.
I see $150 at least in just clamps that you failed to mention. It's like going to someone's house and having them show you something in Wayfair , then asking how much it would cost made of cherry, maple and walnut. Oh, and can I get the price tonight and the piece delivered next week?
Umm who would call any company and expect to pay $150 for that? You sound like the Karen
@@Broken_robot1986 yeah well If you're just starting out sure those costs are not included, but anyone who owns a home should start slowly buy those tools.. they are invaluable
You did great! If you do this again I would recommend compacting the ground and placing some 3/8 rebar along with the concrete to keep it from cracking.
FABULOUS PROCESS and FINISHED CURB.
NO FEAR / TAKE NO PRISONERS.
If you have frost in your area it might be good idea to go deeper into the ground. This job looks great. I would put 1 rebar into this like 1/4 inch or 3/8
I’m 12 years old but I’ve been pouring concrete for 37 years and I speak for all concrete workers when I say THIS is a good job!
I am the CEO of Amalgamated Concrete Inc, supplying 63% of the concrete in the Tri-State Area, and I have never - NEVER - seen a more beautiful pour. Hats off to you.
I haven't done concrete like, ever... for 0 years & I can honestly say it looks like it appears great.
I am concrete, and I’ve never seen myself get used this nicely before!
I own a construction company and i have to truly say that that was an amazing job....i would hire you gals anytime...i pass up so many landscaping jobs😂😂😂😂
Just a general question because I would like to DIY a similar garden edge… no rebar used here, do I have to add rebar for his application ?
@@Every14days826no that would be a waste of time cutting and bending the rebar for such a small pour. Use fiber mesh or wire grid cut to size
@@wanderingdruid978 thank you
Hell no dude… she needs to stop. People think they can DIY anything and it hurts construction businesses
@@jplandscaping5069 So Norm Abrams, Bob Vila, This Old House and all the other DIY shows that show people how to do this themselves are wrong?
I am from the Roman Empire and this is better than our concrete.
Iv been doing concrete for about 2 months and this is better then most jobs I seen.
God, here. I gave mankind the gift of concrete over 40,000 years ago. But nobody has done it better than this in the history of ever. Not even the Egyptians.
Should have doweled into the driveway to ensure it doesn't lift or fall and put a single 3/8 rebar in the middle. And use a box of concrete coloring. And for bonus points, put one form lower and do a side profile S or something. Stupid easy and would be a million times better and last more then a few years.
That’s it now ... she’s off and
No stopping her 😊 it all starts with a bit of sand and cement . Onwards and upwards
Beautiful
I'm a civil engineer in a family biz for 35 years. I've stood around with my hands in my pockets for 70 years 😂. I have watched American labor get substituted with South American labor. All along some have it, some don't. These lady's have it!
Good work but yall forgot to add some rebar to strengthen your curb and last longer
yea they should’ve tied into the driveway so it don’t take off
No rebar need it 😆 is even 6 inches tall
I’m a stay at home beta male and I can tell you that is A+ work right there!
You saved a whole lot.❤
That’s one way to do it , but probably need more cut points next time so it doesn’t crack etc
Well done.
Man! That's amazing😊
I’ve been around since before the rocks in the concrete were formed, and that’s a nice job.
Dad did this on each side of our driveway in the 1960s.
As concrete for over 90 years I say that’s better than most! 🎉
7000 thousand years old, been pouring for 20000. Best job I've seen in 40000 years.
Girl, you got skills!
I observed the building of The Pyramids. This kerb project will still be there in 2000 years.
When I started in the concerte industry as an apprentice 120 years ago - we'd always do our curbs like that, most of them are still in good condition to this day, good job 👍
Great Job 👍👍👍👍👍
Surprised the comments arent full of concrete guys complaining that you didn't pay someone $20,000 to "do it right". Good looks😎
I am the concrete and you did me well.
I’m the Roman guy that invented concrete. Good job
My Grandfather poured concrete in ancient Greece and thinks this is Great.
Great job.
That’s great!
Im 92 and I sniff concrete every day and I can tell you I was gleaming watching this with pride as thats one of the best lines of concrete ive ever seen. 🤌😊
Nice work 👍
Wonder women. Great job!!!
I love this.
Looks great, nice job 👍
You guys made an excellent path for the water to food your patio. I'll keep this in mind if I ever want to do that
Well done
My husband and i did this. Great job.
Should have put some rebar in this…this is going crack and push out overtime as it collects water. Also - should have packed down the base.
I did concrete for 94 years and this is something.
Oil on forms. Respect. Backfill acts as a kicker too
The burnt shells for the living calcium was such a nice 1000 year touch. Next week bat houses?
Also a great way to make the road bed on a permanent garden trainset
Forget the forms add fiber to the mix and use a pattern form to make the shape. Works for round shapes better.
I eat concrete cereal every morning and consider myself a cement master and have to say that digging was second to none
Excellentissime !!! Dominique, cet oiseau est pommade pour un œil épuisé et musique pour un oreille trop demande !!! Merci et bonne soirée !!!
Nice work Ladies
Love how the baby is happily playing in dirt❤.
My name is John Concrete. I am actually made of concrete so I know a thing about concrete and this concrete is good concrete.
Great job
I'm an electrician so my opinion is more important than God's and you did a fabulous job.
I've never seen anybody not do it as good as I can't been doing for the last 35 years and it still isn't as good as mine aswell.
Parabens pela atitude 🙏😍
It’s nice but she didn’t compress the gravel down? Is that normal?
I’ve been a carpenter for 2000 years, worked in the same shop with Jesus. This is better form work then I ever built.
Good job!
I build skyscrapers with my bare hands and this is better than anything I’ve ever seen.
Great job! Cheap form work but the clamps saved the day!
I've seen a couple guys use a machine that squeezes concrete out the side to do something like that.
Even had the baby out there helping, LOL!
How much difference do ~1”-deep relief gaps make when the curb is ~6” tall? Is it mostly cosmetic? Or does it just prevent the top from cracking as easily and letting water in, so any cracks are more likely to form in the base, where it’s less likely to matter as quickly?
Well done awesome job, 😊
Yer costs are way low compared to me.
15 bags concrete =105
4 Hardie siding = 56
I’m so down to let you come help me with mine!!!! Anytime you want!!!
Buy a mixer at harbor freight for $200 and you can pave everything. New side walks - widen the driveway etc
If you leave some of the stakes higher than the form boards then you can use some baleing wire to keep them from spreading. Easier to work around than the clamps. Looks really good. Good for you taking it on for yourself.
Nice Work.....❤🎉
We know little man in the back with the trowel did all the work, haha
Beautiful ❤
Im 24 and did concreting for 56 years, obviously i know EVERYTHING....nice job.
My math was always abysmal b uuuut 🤔🤔😂😂😂
