    Kinda funny that the Span wire signals are much higher in clearance than the modern mast posts signals so this is backwards in installation.

    I don't understand why they went with a full replacement instead of a modernization by replacing the signals on the mast arms. Mast Arms are tougher than Box-Wire signals.

      Samme here that's what I was thinking and besides the signals on the mast arms are still decent. I believe those current signals on the mast arms were installed not too long ago

      I agreed with you 100%.States like California, Illnois,Texas,Nevada,Arizona,etc. have only traffic signals Mast Arms installments. In my opinion, they need to kept the Mast Arms just upgrade the signals, that's it. Replacing Mast Arms to Box-Wire signals is a waste of time and very backwards.

      Replacement mast arms are on backorder for months. Supply issues like everything else. Same with LEDs. They can’t get Dialight LEDs so new installations use GE LEDs

    Replacing the existing mast arm signal with a wire box span that has durasigs and no backplates seems interesting. It’s also something to note that these signals are relatively new (2007 on Google maps) so why are they replacing them?

    • @JULYXXIV
      @JULYXXIV Před rokem

      Interesting is one way of putting it. This is absolutely backward! Only in Michigan would this happen.

    Another great video DeTraffic!! Like some of you guys, it's great that old signals are getting replace with durasigs, but WHY they want to replacing mass arms to new wire spans?? It's VERY BACKWARDS installment. In my opinion, mass arm spans installments are way much better because the it holds the signals much tighter, mainly during very strong winds so they won't be blown all over the place, ending up facing the wrong way. They should've kept the mass arms, but just upgrade the signals. They also did the mass arms to new wire spans replacement on Service Dr and Grand River a long time ago. This also happen on three intersections on Gratiot between Brush St. and St. Antoine......R.I.P. mass arms on 3rd & Fisher Service Dr. (2007-2022)...u will be missed. smh.

      There is a supply chain issue with getting mast arms. I heard close to a year backorder. Same for Dialight LEDs. Many new installs are going to GE. When a signal is rebuilt it typically does not use the same hardware as the prior install.

      @@NickBasilico Are there any supply chain issues with Econolites?

    • @NickBasilico
      @NickBasilico Před rokem

      It’s affecting basically everyone in some capacity or another. Chip shortages make getting controllers more difficult. Resin shortages affect molding of housings. I did hear Econolite may be discontinuing production of signal heads in the coming months to focus on connected mobility solutions. Not confirmed yet but heard from someone close to Econolite.

    • @firealarmtechguy4444
      @firealarmtechguy4444 Před rokem

      @@NickBasilico Would this discontinuation be permanent or temporary? This sucks because I was really hoping for atleast 1 replacement in my area to be Econolites. I'm sick of Mobotrex. I would like something else for a change.
