Kawhi would rather have the 5 or 6 days consecutive rest than have to grind out one or two extra games. If we've learned anything about him in the last 5 years, it is that the man likes to get his rest in. On top of that, Kawhi and Russ don't seem like the kinda guys that are afraid of any team...whether it's justified or not.

Phoenix has an amazing team but the Clippers actually matchup pretty decently with them. Clips are an old team that are horrible at rim protection because besides Kawhi and Mann, nobody can keep a guy in front of them so the pressure is all on Zu to not get in foul trouble. Phoenix is at the bottom of the league at shots at the rim, they are elite everywhere else of course. Clips are too old to deal with Sac and Memphis rn, ESPECIALLY without PG. There was no easy answer for them, but at least here they sorta “matchup” well with Phoenix.

I kinda get what Nick is saying but there are many reasons why you'd want to avoid the play-in anyway, firstly the options are Denver or Memphis if you get by that which ain't easy either

If a team can not control it's own destiny, they need to win. If the Pelicans were down big at half, then yes, losing is fine. But since that game was close, can not risk the play in. I mean, anything can happen in a playoff series. What is the chance KD gets hurt in the series. Not likely, but knowing KD, could happen.
The playoff picture would've been Clippers 6th seed or Clippers vs Lakers. The only team they get up for is the Lakers 11-0 and they still get almost a week off.

It is better to be an underdog sometimes than a favorite and that will be the case for the Clippers against the Suns. I also believe that this is not an easy matchup for Phoenix and therefor it would not surprise me if he the Suns will be done after Round 1.

I’m with you. I think Kawhi isn’t even a little bit afraid of KD and the Suns. This series is going at least 6 games.
I expect the Suns to win but by no means is it a foregone conclusion. CP3 and Booker are serial chokers, and everyone forgot KD before GSW was as well. GSW carried him and shook that label, but there's a reason why he joined them in the first place, because he choked a series to them. KD has done just about nothing outside of GSW in terms of playoff success.
