  • Reviewing the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, fresh 2023 true wireless earbuds boasting upgraded battery life and premium features, for a nicer price than Sony or Bose. I've been testing the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 by using them as my full-time Bluetooth earbuds for a few weeks so here's my final verdict on these ANC buds.
I've reviewed lots of other True Wireless Earbuds here on Tech Spurt, including great value options like the Soundcore Life. Check out my thoughts on the best TWS for any budget, and let us know your own favourites down below!
The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 offer active noise cancelling, and while this isn't as good as the very best out there, it's pretty good for a cheaper price. You'll only struggle on very noisy transport like the London Underground. You also have personalised audio features, spatial sound and lots of other cool tools.
The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 are available to buy now in the UK.

Very pleased with mine, got them around Chinese New Year (had previously got a pair for my wife). Happy with the sound quality (and my wired rig is relatively audiophile, so I'm quite picky) and overall find them to be an easy recommendation.
I have found that the noise cancellation doesn't cancel voices though, and that's a bit disappointing. As in, it specifically lets those frequencies through. But for other environmental noise they do a good enough job.

Thanks for the review as just about to get the OnePlus 12.
Makes a change for someone to review using voice in a noisy environment!
would be good to add in a busy chatty environment. My current OnePlus Z ones; great in car on motorway but get complaints of people shouting in the background when I use in the office. Even though they are talking normally 5 metres away!

Hey there! 🌟 First off, a big thank you for all the fantastic info you provide! I'm on the hunt for new earbuds and would love your guidance. I've got my eye on the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, but I've noticed they only support LHDC, AAC, and SBC codecs. My Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, supports AAC, SBC, aptX, aptX HD, LDAC, LC3, and Opus.
I'm curious if the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 will deliver a great experience on the AAC codec (I read a rumor about an LC3 codec update too). If not, do you have any recommendations in the ballpark of 150 EUR? Sound quality, volume, and solid bass are my top priorities. Multi-connectivity is a plus for me too. Thanks a bunch! 🙌

I had the first gen of standard Oneplus buds and they literally sounded no different to the Sony xm5 headphones. Obviously they don't have the noise cancelling features but the sound quality was no different at all considering you can't really have the xm5's very loud unless you want everyone in your country hearing what you're listening to.

What is the lifespan of OnePlus buds pro?
Unfortunately, these earbuds are not replaceable or repairable. I can't help but feel that OnePlus is intentionally designing the software to make the earbuds last for only a year, forcing customers to upgrade to the latest version, like the recently released Buds Pro 2.
I purchased the OnePlus Buds Z a few months after they were released. I was hesitant because there were no test units available in Sri Lanka, but I was pleasantly surprised by the audio quality. After almost a year of use, I decided to upgrade to the OnePlus Buds Pro, which had impressive active noise cancellation and transparency mode, although I didn't notice a significant improvement in sound quality. I gave my Buds Z to a friend, but after a year, they complained that the battery life on one side was very low and lasted for less than an hour. I suggested basic fixes, but the problem only got worse until the earbud became unusable.
On the other hand, I had no issues with my OnePlus Buds Pro until eight months after use when one side stopped charging. After almost a year of use, the battery life on the left earbud became so bad that it couldn't even last for three songs. Despite trying various reset methods, there was no improvement. Unfortunately, these earbuds are not replaceable or repairable.
I can't help but feel that OnePlus is intentionally designing the software to make the earbuds last for only a year, forcing customers to upgrade to the latest version, like the recently released Buds Pro 2. This is unacceptable, and I am extremely disappointed. I will never purchase or recommend OnePlus products again. It's important to raise awareness about this issue so that other consumers are informed and not deceived.
    drl431
Hi, I don't consider ear buds to be a long term investment, but if you are dissatisfied, simply buy a different brand. The marketing strategy suggested sounds like something a 12 year old would come up with.

I'm sorry, but your response is completely unacceptable. It's not about considering earbuds a long term investment or not, it's about the fact that these earbuds are marketed as 'PRO' and are not cheap. Consumers expect them to last for more than a year, especially when they pay a premium price for them. Your dismissive attitude towards customer dissatisfaction is disappointing, to say the least. And your comment about 'buying a different brand' is insulting and shows a lack of accountability on OnePlus' part. I won't stand for it. It's time for OnePlus to take responsibility for its faulty products and provide a better solution than just buy another one.' Your dad buying you the latest and greatest might be an option, but for most of us, it's not that simple. We work hard for our money, and we expect products to last longer than a year. Your response is simply not good enough.

Guys, please be careful when purchasing OnePlus products. They kill the buds when a upgraded version is about to be launched. Almost everyone started facing battery life issues after the final firmware update for OnePlus Buds Pro. The service center denied me service during warranty saying liquid damage. I had to file a consumer grievance against OnePlus and go after them on Twitter and FB to get help because I was 100% sure there's no liquid damage. They finally picked my device up after about 6 months (out of warranty) and replaced it with Buds Pro 2. I had to fight to get justice! I am sure all of your buds have the same issue. They killed it with software uodate. You guys need to collaborate and collectively file consumer grievance to bring this to the attention of the authorities.

Very low quality, poor software. Only some OnePlus phones are supposed to be milked, or many of the claimed features will not work. sound at 3/10 points. A lot of marriage. Their maximum price is $20. They are very inconvenient to use

I don't like the way they sound. Not hi res, very rudimentary earbud controls with no volume option. This is a $50 product.
