Jukka Tolonen was guitarist mainly in the jazz-rock fusion band called Tasavallan Presidentti but played also in Wigwam both supergroup in prog. scene. Tolonen has also several soloalbums and Tolonen! was the first among them.

Also, 5 other great bands include: Shadowfax (Watercourse Way), Gong (Shamal), Flora Puirim (Open Your Eyes, You Can Fly), Brand X ( Unorthodox Behaviour), and Pekka Pohjola (Mathematician's Air Display). Finally, Jukka Tolonen's Cross-section is a masterpiece.

Eleven of your 25 have been my mainstays for years. Of the other 14, I own recordings by most of the artists you mentioned: Herbie Mann, Terje Rypdal, Return to Forever, & Larry Coryell (who fronted a 2nd-tier fusion band called the 11th House), I might suggest an 80's band called Material, with Bill Laswell - "Memory Serves" in particular. Very dark, avant-garde stuff. I also like a guitarist named Joe Beck (not Jeff - Joe). His early work could be a tad self-indulgent, but he matured beautifully, and his final work was tasty & very mellow - more jazz, less fusion, more age-appropriate for an oldster like me. Been listening to a lot of Snarky Puppy lately - technically fusion, I guess, but with the emphasis on jazz.

It goes without say that these are 25 of the finest fusion albums ever made, if not just finest albums. To anyone reading this comment, please do yourself a favor: Find a hard copy (any format) of Rivers Of Memory by Jessica Williams (RIP). She plays acoustic and electric pianos, organ, synth and celeste. For some reason, CZcams uploads from that album have a much slower playback speed

Well, he did mention "Sweetnighter" and Chick's "RTF", so I gather he's only giving one citation to one individual/band, and they're his personal faves. In such a list, I would've included the two volume "Montreux Summit" recordings which are like a "who's who" of jazz fusion all live at one gig in 1977.

Haha but everyone is only as knowledgeable as what he has been exposed to! I myself I’m working on a video about Jaco Pastorius! I’m not an expert, but I’ve done quite a bit of due diligence, and I have almost all of his recordings, including his very first one that he did in 1974 while he was still a teacher at the University of Miami! But it is fun to hear other peoples experiences into jazz, especially progressive jazz!
