Well executed, very disciplined. Love it! Very sharp troops. The fixed bayonets is always cool, we practiced it constantly for parades and ceremonies in one particular Brigade I was stationed with, where the Brigade Commander was fixated with it. He wanted to hear “one click, and one click only!” When securing the bayonet to the rifles. Imagine over 1,000 men doing one click on time! The key was to have everyone counting the steps with the commands out loud until it was perfect and even then the occasional off time click could be heard. But mostly it was all done on time. When done in ceremonies it’s very impressive.
@Digger Gardi true, but their ability to fight wasn’t being looked at here, it was their drill and ceremonies skills that I was watching, their discipline on the parade field and not on the battlefield. Having said that, Boko Harem is a terrorist organization that has Islamic radicals for its members, they’re not beholden to the same rules and restraints as the military and are very embedded in their communities, much like the Taliban in Afghanistan, with whom they do have ties. The military is forced to follow their restrictions and their actions are scrutinized. If they were to act outside of their restrictions they would be judged differently and they would loose much of the support that they have been getting from other countries, who are willing to let them handle their own security issues while they support from a distance with financial and military advice. The fact is that many countries are wary of the constant wars and of sending troops in to die in countries that don’t seem to commit fully to eradicating these terrorist groups, that are continually sponsored by Iran and other players. It, sadly, seems like a containment action rather than a fight to victory. I also believe that there are members of Boko infiltrated in the armed forces there and that they play a part in the military’s ineffective actions at times, much like what has happened in Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries with the same situation. This isn’t a defense of what’s happening there, just facts that explains what is happening unfortunately.
@Digger Gardi these May not be primarily combat units either, remember that many countries have “parade” troops and “combat” troops, unlike other countries who’s military doesn’t rotate through such parade duties. The US military for example has some specialized units that are used for parades, ceremonies, etc., which don’t usually rotate through combat deployments, personnel will mostly do so rather than whole units. While in the UK units do rotations through parade and ceremonial duties as a whole. That may be the case here, I don’t know.

I was in the Army and I always questioned what all these useless exhibits serve with true discipline or their true value in the tactical aspect of real combat and no one could ever give me a satisfactory answer .. Everything This absurdity, among other stupid things, was what led me to request my discharge after completing my years of service to which I was bound by contract.
