  • Have you ever read the Bible and wondered why we do not see the healing, deliverance, and prophetic miracles that seemed to be commonplace among the earliest followers of Jesus? Do miracles still happen? Can God work miracles through me?
Today I sit down with Dr. Sean Tobin, clinical psychologist, to discuss the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit. Dr. Tobin is a Director of the Encounter School of supernatural Ministries Los Angeles, which is a school created to help believers know God’s love and to learn to use the gifts of the Holy Spirit to evangelize and make God’s love known in the world. In today’s fascinating episode Sean shares some of his story of being an atheist to encountering God through a charismatic priest. We also discuss what are the gifts of the Holy Spirit, are the supernatural gifts for everyone, what is the role of prophesy, what does it mean to live a “normal” supernatural life, and much more.

Wow this is so interesting. We have just a few on fire Catholics in our parish. But I am praying for all. To experience the Holy Spirit Oh Jesus have Mercy on us all. We are all so damaged.

  • @criticalthinkingisessentia2402

This was excellent! If we're all being honest, we are called to be Jesus' hands and feet here on Earth, we are called to heal the sick and raise the dead! We haven't even come close to living up to this, and it's time for us all to step up to the plate and truly have faith, without doubt! As someone who's lived through debilitating chronic illness (due to a severe injury from fluoroquinolone antibiotics) for over a decade, I can say that it's certainly not easy to be in that situation (or similar situations) and continue having faith. This is where the community of believers is called to step in and have faith (without doubt) for them. It is ALWAYS God's perfect will to heal EVERYONE! However, God gave us free will (because He loves us) and we live in a fallen world, where many choose evil, and this impacts the innocent as well. So, it's time for all of us to make the choice to use the power God gave us through the Holy Spirit to heal the sick, raise the dead, and so much more!

I love this! I am a grad of the Encounter School of Ministry in Brighton. He is telling the truth about all Christians being part of the mission to heal. We've seen so many healings: from Parkinsons, cancer, sprains, headaches, and more. Friends have prayed with people whose legs have grown out, regained sight from blindness, and more. God's love is there for us to share! We are His hands on earth, and there is nothing more exciting than seeing someone healed from physical, emotional, or psychological issues and get a new life! Thank you, Lila, for this interview. God is so amazingly good. And this is also an important way to evangelize the love God has for us.
    Awesome interview!

Thank you for sharing Dr. Sean Tobin's story, Lila. Thanks for continuing to do a podcast every week. And hope you and your husband had a nice Happy Father's Day celebration! Hope you like this prayer!
A Prayer to St. Joseph, Defender of Life
    Dearest St. Joseph,
at the word of an angel,
you lovingly took Mary into your home.
As God’s humble servant, you guided
the Holy Family on the road to Bethlehem,
welcomed Jesus as your own son
in the shelter of a manger,
and fled far from your homeland
for the safety of both Mother and Child.
We praise God that as their faithful protector,
    you never hesitated to sacrifice
    for those entrusted to you.
May your example inspire us also
    to welcome, cherish, and safeguard
God’s most precious gift of life.
Help us to faithfully commit ourselves
to the service and defense of human life
    -especially where it is
    vulnerable or threatened.
    Obtain for us the grace
to do the will of God in all things.
    Amen
Saint Joseph is the patron saint of fathers, the Universal Church, unborn children, a happy death, immigrants, workers, and travelers.
Matthew 20:21 Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
Thanks again. Hope you and your family have a light-filled peaceful joyful week, Lila.

I believe an intellectual conversion is needed amongst many people searching for truth today, but we cannot ignore the VERY REAL and unexpected conversions of heart to Christ through the Holy Spirit. Growing up in a Catholic charismatic community I have seen people invoke the Holy Spirit with miraculous effects. We cannot dismiss the third person of the Trinity. He is powerful! If every Christian invoked the Holy Spirit in their daily life the world would be a different place.
Thank you Lila for not shying away from the more charismatic side of Catholicism.

Praying in tongues and speaking in tongues are two different things. Authority is one thing intercessory prayer is another. Jesus and his Word are first and foremost. Healing Prayer Ministry does not take anything away from that.
Jesus preached and he healed or he healed and then preached. He often said , "your faith has healed you." Faith in who? Jesus Christ and His Word. Great show thanks to Lila and Sean.
The church is going through changes on so many levels. Thank God that he will have the last word.

I'm seeing a lot of confusion and fear being spread in this thread about charismatic gifts. I just found a video (on another channel) that eases these fears. Fr. Joseph Ianuzzi is an exorcist and theologian and can clear up misunderstandings and fears that people are taught (from other exorcists) about the charismatic gifts.

Lila - love your work and your videos in general. Unfortunately, Dr. Tobin is "out over his skis" here, so to speak; and Fr. Pivonka in a recent talk I watched (Word of Fire Institute) is advocating and speaking at least two heresies, sadly (won't go into them here, but it's not good). Poor catechesis, it seems, as well as perhaps a clergy culture around him which is not sufficiently Eucharistic or sufficiently Marian. This saddens me to say, but it has to be said as faithful Catholics.
PLEASE HAVE Fr. Chad Ripperger on your show so that you and your audience can gain clarity and understanding, and dispel the potentially dangerous myths surrounding "speaking in tongues," "praying over people" (very bad idea unless you have natural law jurisdiction in the family or are a priest / bishop), etc. Fr. R. is a true expert on the Faith, a leading Exorcist in the US, and a prolific author. He is a very faithful to Tradition and a brilliant man and scholar all around. Thanks and God bless.

Encounter Ministries IS sufficiently Eucharistic. And the Blessed Virgin leads people to her heavenly Spouse, the Holy Spirit.
At the beginning of their services, they have Eucharistic Adoration.
Watch Encounter Ministries videos for yourself and see what's there.
Don't take the word of exorcists who are teaching you to fear and misinforming people about charismatic gifts.

Not sure what 'they' you are referring to however Encounter ministries has gone to great lengths to be vetted by top theologians and have vetted their curriculum at every stage. I can't vouch for everything Fr Dave has said but I know he is a man after the Lord's heart. Also, while Fr Ripperger is a holy and outstanding teacher, he also has made claims that cannot necessarily be verified and he is human and not necessarily right about every little detail of the Faith. You have to go to the Lord in prayer about some of these topics, focus on being solid in public (required) revelation and seek the Lord on private (optional) revelation. He is the ultimate authority. The things that Sean discussed here are biblical.

      Mark 16:15-18
      New Catholic Bible
15 Then he said to them, “Go forth into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 These are the signs that will mark those who believe: In my name they will cast out demons. They will be granted the gift of speaking in new languages. 18 If they pick up serpents in their hands or drink any deadly poison, they will remain unharmed. The sick on whom they lay their hands will recover.”

Hey lila, usually I love your content and who you have on to interview.... this interview left me feeling icky. I know you came from protestantism and so did I. He sounds way more protestant than catholic. Quoting more protestants than catholics... Benny Henns nephew has told talked about what Benny is really like. White is very anti catholic...
Whenever you ask him questions, he doesn't answer them well. It sounds just like what I've asked my protastants faith and healing friends.
The part that really got me the worst is when you asked about miracles he has seen... Legs growing?! And pain level decreasing... That is what every protestant in this denomination of healing and miracles see...
I'm concerned he may he going down the wrong path here.
When Padre pio and other Saints healed, it was legit. Blind seeing, deaf hearing, lame walking. And even more unbelievable things.
I love my protestant brothers and sisters, but when it comes to stuff like this.. I wouldn't take inspiration from them.
Just my personal take. I mean no ill will. It's been bothering me for several days since listening, and felt the need to say something.

Lila, I respect you and your work so much, please don’t get involved in this. You have a responsibility, with such a large following, to not share things that could lead people down a dark path. There is a lot from the movement that is not of God.
The demons have an understanding of all languages and one way that exorcists determine the authenticity of a possession is if the victim speaks in a language they should have no understanding of, they are being spoken through and do not understand what they’re saying.
    Charismatic tongues are demonic.
The movement is heretical and they are chasing a feeling.

Firstly, St. Paul would say otherwise. Secondly, they're not "chasing a feeling" anymore than some people want to "feel awed by the beauty of a church". And they're not chasing a feeling; these gifts of healing are for the building up of God's Kingdom on earth.
Please look up the video on Blue Collar Catholic with the guest Fr. Joseph Ianuzzi. He's an exorcist and theologian and he explains about the charismatic gifts. And debunks the fears that people are being taught (from other exorcists).
St. John Paul II was charismatic. St. Padre Pio, charismatic. Pope Francis is charismatic. The Church Fathers, charismatic.

I don’t agree I came away from those teachings.
I use to speak in tongues and no longer do, I never knew what I was praying and never felt the closeness, peace and confort of our lord Jesus Christ until i stepped away from the prosperity, new age churches.
Faith comes from hearing and hearing through the world of Christ, and that just means reading your Bible which is the audible voice of Christ and we pray directly to our lord Jesus Christ.
Getting hooked up on the touchy feeling stuff which makes you feel like it’s all about it your gifts, brings the focus on you and not on Christ alone.
You don’t have to step into these practises just so you can feel more spiritually close to Him.
It’s false, that’s how many are deceived.
First and foremost God wants to heal the heart who is harden towards Christ so we can have eternity in heaven with Him through salvation.
This is all about physical healing and living the good life now on the earth, that’s not what the Bible is about entirely.

And he said that they were not coming to him because they understood the miracle but because they wanted more earthly food. Hence, all miracles point to heaven. That's why God usually does not heal people and let them carry their crosses so that they can go to heaven.
