- TWILIGHT: How James Was The Reason Alice Became A Vampire. James is absolutely terrifying and as this video title reads, he was the sole reason that Alice Cullen became a vampire and in today's video, I’m gonna tell you why.

For me the best parts of the twilight books were the backstories of vampires and shifters/werewolves.
oh
For real, I’ve always been interested in that lore.
@@Gnarly_Gypsy the twilight tv show was in the early stages of production ( on hold because of the strike of course). as far as the twilight tv show goes, I hope we get hour long episodes devoted to just showing their backstories.
As a kid, I was more focused on Edward and Bella. As an adult, though, I'm way more interested in the other characters. Especially The Volturi.
I always found Alice fascinating for the fact that Alice had a magical gift before becoming a vampire. Yes other characters had a small ability too before becoming a vampire, but Alice was the most out there! 💚
In twilight (book), james tells bella that he knew alice. That the solution was right there, that it happened to him once, He said the old vampire made her a strong new vampire, and so out of revenge he killed the old one. That in the 1800s, she would have been burned at the stake for her visions, but in the 1900s it was electro shock treatments.
In one of the short films approved by Stephenie Meyer for a contest, the electroshock treatments wiped her memory of her life prior to being in the asylum.
James talks about, in the book, how the old vampire "made her into a strong new vampire" and so he killed the old one as a "trade". He said that alice didnt even seem to notice the pain. This implies that the transformation acted like an electroshock treatment and wiped her memory of everything prior.
Bella takes this to mean that because she was always in the dark, she had no memories of her human life. Shes trying to tell her this while theyre trying to figure out what to do about the venom from james' bite.
In new moon (book) when alice comes back after bella jumped off the cliff, she says she was doing research about the information shed gotten last spring, that her parents marriage was in the paper. That her date of death was the same day as she was admitted into the asylum. And that her niece was still alive in Mississippi.
James' speech is the same in midnight sun.
They remove it from the movies, but it is in the books.
I have been binge listening to them for the last 4 weeks because im dealing with some stuff, so all the details are super fresh, the most fresh, the freshest.
Alice has the most interesting backstory of the Cullens. Thanks for delving into it. It was assumed that Alice had forgotten James and everything about her human life due to the shock treatment coupled with the transformation process. If it weren't for her seeing a vision of Jasper when she 'woke up', who spoke her name, she would have gone completely feral.
She saw herself joining the Cullens in a vision so she started the vegetarian diet before joining them
@@Shannon-vv6rr That, too.
Alice didn’t recognize James because she has zero memory of her human life at all. This is because the frequent electric shock treatments and then the pain of the transformation erased her memory entirely; indeed the first memory Alice ever had was waking up in a meadow as a newborn vampire. It’s stated that if she didn’t have her 6th sense of seeing the future, she would’ve turned into a total savage. She had no recollection of any part of her life, not even her own name. It was her visions which guided her and told her who she was and who she would eventually spend her life with - Jasper and then the cullens shortly after. James first explains this in twilight in the ballet studio, and then after getting that information from James’s video camera, she tracks down her history including the asylum she was placed in and her admission papers, as well as her gravestone during the period of time the cullens are away in New Moon. But the real extent of her story, including how her father was behind her mother’s murder and then put her in an asylum to keep her quiet, was not revealed until the official illustrated guide.
I agree that the Twilight lore has a lot of potential, and it's unfortunate that it was buried underneath so much overhyped romance.
The amount of times Alice saved the Cullens needs some respect!
That's why I usually prefer books over movies. However, don't get me wrong, I love the Twilight film series. But the thing is, books usually capture the smallest of details that is hard to interpret in a movie.
An example is in another vampire novel called Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. It had great potential, but the movie and series failed to capture its true essence as it was in the original book series.
Anyways, that was a great and quite an interesting video about Alice since she has always been my most favorite character in the Twilight. Thank you for the video!
I love vampire academy!!
@@aliciagoodin8444 Me too! Do you know about the Bloodlines?
@@roz472no is it a sequel?
@@crystalkennedy7435 yes, but the spin off series is no longer in Rose Hathaway's perspective
I love that it’s pretty much universally accepted that the side characters in twilight are far more interesting than Edward and Bella. It’s hilarious, but it also opens such a world of fanfiction. In fact, Twilight was the thing that introduced me to fanfiction when I was in middle school because I wanted to read more stories about Alice and Jasper.
I’m still baffled that Carlisle hadn’t encountered James before. Any vampire who showed incredible abilities were whispered about in the small circles, and a tracker who would go from one end of the continent to the other for prey (that wasn’t Volturi) would be interesting.
Why would he? Carlisle's a civilized vampire who stays stationary in one place as best as he can. James is a tracker nomad who roams the earth looking for children of the moon and other things to kill in the woods
@@ruthlynmckie231 Why don’t you go back and actually READ my comment? Did I say that Carlisle MET James? No, I said “encountered”, which includes the mentioning of, rumors of and so forth. Grow up.
The back story on the wolf shifters and werewolves are the best parts of twilight.
Literally have a 15 min video on them coming out next week
@@VampireFolkloreVideos oh… AWESOME!!!!
Yes! Another Twilight video, Wow Dean you are on fire rn! Keep up with the good work!
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the video Dean it's nice to get more backstory on characters it gives them more dimension.👍
to me, the one character I remember most out of the series was James, while had little screen time in the first movie, he still left an impact.
Didn't we first learn of Alice's backstory in "The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide," though? An invaluable resource, for sure.
I loved James and Victoria. I liked Victoria a lot more though because I could actually full heartedly root for her as to me her motivations are the only one that makes complete sense in the story 😂
Waittt sorry but what’s her motives again?
I went to all.the filming areas except the Canadian areas every place was awesome
I wonder who would win . The Volturi without their extra abilities and the originals from TVD. That would be a great debate .
I love James the actor CAM GIGANDET who played him is sexy and they made him look so weak in the movie and I liked the original Victoria better
I did know before your video and before Midnight Sun (Officially) because the connection between Alice and James was made in the Official Illustrated Guide which was printed in 2011
I thought it was criminal that they never did a small bit on any of Alice's past but they did for Rosalie and Jasper. It was just as important and they certainly could have taken the time to reveal when Alice finds out about her connection to James and what happened to her and her family as she didn't remember her human life at all. That was in the Twilight book. James was telling Bella about Alice while filming her and Alice later found out via that tape. Then went to see what happened to her sister and she finally knew her full name was Mary Alice Brandon. Before that all she knew was her name was Alice and she woke up alone and a vampire and the only thing that saved her was her visions of her future with Jasper and then eventually the Cullens.
I read the books before I saw the movies
Same
Twilight has such potential, I totally fully undoubtedly sincerely agree with you
I bought midnight sun when it came out. I've been picking it up and putting it down simce then. Some insight is nice.
I like that this channel is INTO vampires
I have read all the twilight books , and seen all the movies . I found The last book ,braking dawn to be much better ..then the last two movies ,I did enjoy all the movies tho .
I really like your videos, but the background music is way too loud, distracting, and hard to understand your explanations. I almost couldn’t watch this because of the loud background music. I ended up muting the video and reading the closed captions.
Please try lower it, thank you and again I really do like your videos.
i've lowered it for future videos.
it sounds like “singers” could be for more than just one vampire in the twilight universe, because we know Emmett has gone through it twice and couldn’t help himself, and so Edward knows about it because he reads minds; however it’s only Bella for him.
So maybe jaspers obsession with the hunt is that they’ve been his “singers”
Oh can u do hope mikaelson from tvdu
Yes, I did know about Alice, James and the older friendly vampire. But I did not know about Alice's father killing her mother. Did she hunt her father when she became a vampire?
I always thought that "he" bit her.
Actually the origin of her backstory comes from the illustrated guide for Twilight which came out years before midnight Sun so her backstory was solidified but we don’t have characters mention or talk about it directly until then.
thank you very much for that correction. Always appreciated
I read the books first so I knew how she became a vampire was kind of surprised they didn't go into that part of the story
James and Alice were my favorites in the book series.
James didn’t stand there… Edward bit his throat out and then Emmet (the very strong) and Jasper (the “expert” fighter) were holding him in place.
Jasper also used his abilities on James, I think he made him feel that fighting was pointless
Theres gonna be a series?!
Yeah...this is the first I"m hearing of this as well.
Is there still a Twilight-series in the making?
Cool
Actually two hundred years makes for more of an teenager in terms of vampiric maturation than a super strong one.
I read the book first then watch the movie 😊
Still mad they left this out the movies
I don't like how bella beat Emmett in Arm Wrestling match like come on Emmett is older than bella and Stronger similar to Flexi
Anyone know when the twilight series will be released?
My favorite part of the books were the characters who weren’t Edward & Bella. Jacob was annoying but at least he a funny smartass sometimes. The backstories of the vampires gave me enjoyment for the first time reading the series. Book one and two weren’t awesome
Are all gifted humans 'singers'? Would change the quality of the blood in some possibly unquantifiable way?
🧛🏻🧛🏻🧛🏻🧛🏻
we need to have a tv series about Alice and be for she be came a vampire
I watched the movies because I red the books..
She was probably mad happy tht he got killed but id why they didn't say he hated him or something bring tht up tht he was the reason why or something like tht
I'm not going to be into the TV series. Just because I'm already hooked on the original actors.... nahhhh I'll pass. .... I'm a just stick to the original movies and the books ... thank you ....
How come you won't do nothing on werewolf folklore I would love to see something about werewolves books film TV and media
Werewolves coming up very soon, have 3 werewolf vids scripted
@@VampireFolkloreVideos I take it you got a werewolf Channel coming up soon
Alice = Bella to Edward but to Jasper.
No shit; Sherlock
TV series?
currently in disucussion
Hopefully the twilight television show isn’t a bunch of woke garbage.
You can bet your life that they would stuff up a series if they made it. The idiot screenwriters these days can't help themselves from writing woke garbage!
She did not see james at least not why she was human
Why? Because obviously she was bitten by a vampire duhh🫡
