- You're listening to the official audio for Joni Mitchell - "Free Man In Paris (Live)" (2024 Remaster). Originally featured on the live album 'Shadows And Light' in 1980, it was written while on holiday in Paris with the head of her record label at the time. The lyrics were inspired by the freedom he exhibited being away from the stresses of his high profile job back home. This version of the song is a live rendition from her Santa Barbara County Bowl show in Sept 1979 and appears on the forthcoming ‘The Asylum Albums (1976-1980)’ out June 21, 2024 via Rhino. Welcome to the official CZcams channel of Joni Mitchell, whose songs “River,” “Both Sides Now," “California,” and albums ‘Clouds,’ ‘Ladies of the Canyon’ and ‘Blue’ compose only a fragment of a multi-disciplinary artistic output that has been embraced across generations, inspired multitudes of artists, and earned every conceivable accolade.
One of the world’s most remarkable and beloved artists, Mitchell has influenced musicians across a vast cross-section of genres with her ethereal songs that reflect social and environmental ideals. The prolific singer-songwriter-painter-poet has not only written and produced her music, but also designed most of her album covers and packaging. A journey into Joni Mitchell’s artistry is one of a highly original, harmonically innovative, and emotionally charged, familiar yet fresh adventure. - Hudba

Dear Joni, you've helped us all to be free. Thank you!
David Geffen is who this song is about... worth a mere $9 billion
You nailed it Joni. 💞

I believe with Jaco Pastorius on bass...
The bass is rock 'n in that version 🙏

❤Love this. Just fabulous..personal favorite
Joni Mitchell super. thanks so much. отличное исполнение хорошей песни.
[Verse 1]
The way I see it, he said, you just can't win it
Everybody's in it for their own gain
You can't please 'em all
There's always somebody calling you down
I do my best and I do good business
There's a lot of people asking for my time
They're trying to get ahead
They're trying to be a good friend of mine
[Chorus]
I was a free man in Paris, I felt unfettered and alive
There was nobody calling me up for favors
And no one's future to decide
You know I'd go back there tomorrow
But for the work I've taken on
Stoking the star maker machinery behind the popular song
[Verse 2]
I deal in dreamers and telephone screamers
Lately I wonder what I do it for
If l had my way, I'd just walk through those doors
And wander down the Champs-Élysées
Going café to cabaret
Thinking how I'll feel when I find
That very good friend of mine
Love you Joni

How does Joni Mitchell only have 176,000 followers on youtube??
If I had my way, she’d have 5 mil.
Que maravilla, sentir el "revoloteo"de Jaco, empujando todo el tiempo.
Tom, soberbio como siempre 😅😅😅
@@juanpedroparrasanchez4884 Que??
@@hansemannluchter643 Jaco Pastorius is on bass for this performance. It's incredible and I agree with Juan. Adds so much.
maybe because its CZcams
Uma das vozes mais belas que o mundo conheceu.
Seems she knew how to entertain herself with each performance, keeping songs fresh
I used to love Joni Mitchells music, but than during covid she got all mean and judgmental and just awful, so now she is totally worthless to everyone. SHAME on her for being mean and nasty
I was/am a lifelong Neil Young AND Joni Mitchell fan, imagine how that felt..
"The Needle and the Damage Done"....
Then I remembered CG Jung and "Death angst", or "thanatophobia", and just how old those two boomers are..
So, I forgave Joni.
But Neil???
No way, it's better to burn out than to fade away!!
I love this song, but not this version so much. The original was more heartfelt and relatable. This one was almost a dance song.
@@Dogsnark Think that may have been the point
They both suffered polio that Is the reason why they know what they talking about...mean and judgmental as you are
your comment is mean and nasty.
