After watching this video, I’ve FINALLY entered my Eurovision mood 🎉😅
Really hoping people give newcomers a chance, especially after Cornelias success (i know shes not technically 'new' but lbr no one was checking for her pre-season). Of course i love Loreen, Wiktoria and Mariette but looking forward to some fresh faces and voices!
Just go for quality, vote for the best song and give them the love they deserve, a new face only if they are equality good or better than Loreen, Mariette and Wiktoria, don't trash on the good songs because of the artists old faces. If Loreen is the best then vote for her, if a new face is the best then vote for that person.
Also like you said give the new faces a chance, like listen extra on them just to see if it's for you or not.
Melfest 2023 has such a fever dream roster, just wow.
Every year Sweden send strongs songs for Eurovision,
7:33 OMG THAT WAS LITERALLY MY REACTION 😂
i was like ok they're ''leaking'' her comeback, but we know that last year uk had to work with Dua Lipa's team which did not happen so prob it's fake and then suddenly i see her name in the heats, literally was like awia7uwhgdao876wdglawd Queen is back to take another decade
But UK DID work with Dua Lipa's team, her management.
Omg thanks for using my vid!! Always look forward to your melfest and ESC-related videos😊 May the best song win!
This is going to be a very strong Melodifestival!!
Did not end well💀, Loreen will save Sweden in Eurovision though
These videos are always when I start the NF season, thanks for the content!
Thank you for watching!
Maria Sur is from Ukraine, competed in Ukraine Voice, she can be dangerous for simpathy votes and she got great vocals!
I love the line-up for Melfest 2023. and bring on Feb 4th for heat 1.
Facts About Marcus and Martinus
They were the presenters of Norwegian Jury points Back in 2017.
They have won MGPjr. 2012, the Norwegian Grammy (Spellemannprisen) 2016 and recently The Masked Singer Sverige.
Thanks for a great reaction! Looking forward to your reaction to each songs!! im super excited
I don't know if you know this yet. Maria Sur is from Ukraine. She was participating in the Voice of Ukraine when the war started. She fled to Sweden with her mother, her father stayed in Ukraine and she reached out to popular singers in Sweden with the question if they want to help her make a career in Sweden. One of them answered her message and put her in contact with the organization of a benefit concert for Ukraine. She performed there and a record label noticed her and offered her a record deal. And now she is participating in Melodifestivalen, and she is just 17 and has an amazing voice and performance on stage. I am very curious about what she will bring to Melodifestivalen.
If she makes it to the melodifestivalen final, she will have one advantage in the international jury vote, because last years winning country is always one of the juries in Melodifestivalen, so then she will get 12 p from them, garanteed.
Perhaps Marcus and Martinius also will have that advantage if Norway is the Nordic representantive in the juries (they haven't been since 2017).
Hopefully the best song win and not story …
@@tom_4546 it's anders bagge all over again
@@GhozyIA hopefully not 🥲
I’ve been waiting for this! (For about 8 hours) 😅 Love the new intro by the way🎶
I can’t believe that the competing songs for Vidbir are coming out at 6am (Eastern Time Zone) tmmr!! Eurovision season is almost here
I'm telling you, you're sleeping on Marcus & Martinus.
They are biiiig stars in Norway, Sweden and beyond.
They were in the Masked Singer Sweden and Allsång på Skansen this year and are really popular.
I'd even go that far and say we should be prepared for the case that they win Melodifestivalen
Well I said I liked what I heard... so "sleeping" on them would be a bit off.
Serbia love themmm. They love our biggest football club RED STAR..❤❤❤
@@AlesiaMichelle I mean in terms of chances because when talked about who's advancing you didn't mention them:)
Marcus and Martinus are only famous by young ppl -20. The only way I would have heard about them was by my cousins childrens who are 8, 15, 18.
Why would Swedes vote for Norwegians to represent them though?
I Think u are underestimating Marcus and Martinus, they are a huge deal in the nordics and have been in the music industry for 10 years. They won junior melodi Grand Prix in Norway in 2012 and won masked singer sweden 2022 or 2021 . I’m sure they will advance directly go listen to their tracks ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ great video love!
I’m guessing the Maria Sur girl might go DTF but definitely AC. With her backstory, I just have a hunch that Sweden will really respond to her. I’ve also heard the Marcus and Martinus boys are super famous and like, locks for DTF.
Yes but seeing how they are not Swedish citizens it is unlikely they will win. When was the last time someone who has no connection to Sweden won it? Plus people in Sweden are already fed up with the war in Ukraine so I do not think it is that certain..
Nordman will most likely have an ethnic/rock-song. That's what they do. They have participated before. They always sing in swedish and use some traditional instruments "nyckelharpa".
thanks for the reaction 🙃
Your hair is so beautiful Alesia!!
Thanks!
Loreeeeen omg cannot wait ❤️❤️
FYI, Nordman isn't just there for variety. They were in the Melfest final in both 2005 and 2008.
And also, Keiino were not the first Sámi representation in Eurovision. That'd be Norway 1980 and Sweden 2000. Would still love to see Jon Henrik in Liverpool though, he was robbed in 2015.
I feel like you're gonna love the Eesti Laul selection this year, such a diverse set of sounds! Would love a reaction/review with your expertise!
Melfest is STACKED this year
Also, KEiiNO is rumored to be in MGP this year, could we have a Sami showdown in 2023?
I'd love to see it.
If KEiiNO is back, they better get their deserved victory this time.
I don't want them to be robbed *thrice*
@@Cazlobut they been in ESC …. Norway is not San Marino … Ulrike deserves to be in Eurovision too
@@tom_4546 Girl what? Ulrikke deserves a spot if she participates again with a good song, yeah. I don't see how KEiiNO having been in Eurovision changes that. And I don't even almost know in what way Norway would be similar to San Marino.
@@Cazlo 1, i am not a girl.
2, In that way - the same artists coming always ro represents Norway - Keiino did in 2019 lets see new artits …Even Alexander came after 9 years …. Just bc somebody won televote it doesnt mean they need to be at Eurovision every 2 year … I am tired of it :) … maybe Its my problem but it is what it is
Marcus and Martinus is a twin duo from Norway, they are 20 years old and became famous when they where 19 years old and won mgp jr (the Norwegian version of Melodifestivalen for kids). They become the biggest pop sensation in Norway and then they took over Sweden and the whole Europe. They have 2 books about them and a documentary film and some series about them and they was the youngest to win spelleman of the year (biggest music prize in Norway and it is like the Grammy) and this year they won masked singer Sweden
You mean 9 not 19 I am pretty sure
I think Mariette/Wiktoria/Tone/Paul Rey will open semis and Loreen/Theoz/Jon Henrik and Marcus/Martinus will close them
Mariette always open or close semi 😂 2 opened and 2 closed
Loreen always closed semi too - maybe this time she could open
Spot Number 2 is for newcomers usually - Ida Lova, Reyhan, Emil or Eden would be my choice
Last 10 years:
Spot 1 - 27Q/13DNQ
Spot 2 - 7Q/33DNQ
Spot 3 and Spot 4 are exactly 50/50 - 20songs Q and 20 DNQ
Spot 5 - 23Q and 16 DNQ
Spot 6 - 24Q and 16 DNQ
Spot 7 - 34Q and just 6 DNQ (mostly in 2013/2014 when they had 8 artits in one semi final
I'm sooooooo excited for Loreeeeeeen! I can't wait! And also Jon Henrik teaming up with swedish dj Arc North is gonna be epic and such a moment! I feel like it's gonna be a battle between those two for sure! But the queen is back!!!!!!!!! I just hope her performance isn't too artsy again like 2017 and all will be fine!
Nordman is an old veteran. They were last time in the final in 2008. They are known for the fact that Carola lost a duel with them in AC. Some insights say that they may be one of contender. They are more of pop-folk.
Such a good reaction)

Ooooo #exciting
I can't unsee Nick Carter in Theoz now 😂
im so happy for Mariette and Wiktoria though im sure they ain't gonan win😭😭
Marcus & Martinus are brothers and used to be these big preteen idols. But are they passé now? I remember I once saw something on TV with them. They were doing a photo shoot and were talking about how they had invented this new variation of the V sign, where they hold the back of the hand outwards. I was like "lololol, the British already invented that a long time ago!"
They are twins :)
I agree with your reaction.
When we speak of Loreen and Statements 2017. I remember that it was the international jury that disappointed with low points. A lot of the international jury members probably felt the message in the song was too political (Especially Russia).. And especially in a Europe/Sweden that is becoming more and more authoritarian every year that passes.
Nordman is also kind of ethnic sounding. But the singer in Nordman can't always deliver the notes. He'll be far below or half a note above where he is supposed to be.
_"I remember that it was the international jury that disappointed with low points."_
In the semifinals and "andra chansen" there are only televotes. The international jury only give points in the grand final...which Loreen unfortunately didn't reach, so the international juries never got to say what they thought about this song.
_"A lot of the international jury members probably felt the message in the song was too political (Especially Russia)..."_
Russia has been part of the international juries in the Melodifestivalen grand final twice, in 2010 and 2011, but not in 2017.
@@Asa...S You are correct.. I am totally mixing it up with Yohio.. Who was the real winner 2013.
Marcus and Martinus are twin brothers and they have been singing together for ten years now
I hope Loreen will be amazing! Like in Euphoria, not Statements. I think she went too far in that performance using the lady with the handbag imagery. That woman regretted doing what she did and hated being recognised for it and it basically ruined her life. But I hope Loreen will be amazing with a really good song!
Her song won't be like Euphoria, but it won't be like Statements either. I'm excited to see what type of masterpiece it will be. About Statements, even if the lady dislike being recognised for the story with the handbag the song and the performence in itself are still REALLY GOOD! Loreen said that this time with her new song she said that she have a special feeling for it that is simular to the feeling she had for Euphoria, that makes me believe that Loreen returning to Mello now is for that reason alone and she is confident that we will like it like just how we liked Euphoria. Her saying it made me even more excited for her return. Dare we believe in her?
Linköping- you pronounced it very well! The only thing is that you need to be slow on the "Ö". Lin-sh-öö-ping :) (the ö pronounced kind of like uuh)
SLAYYYYYY
I think Laurell could be a good choice for Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest
Sweden will send Loreen for Eurovision Song Contest 2023
Really? Cause WE didnt send her last time she was competing in Melodifestivalen 😅😅
@@JohanLaferte But still with.. with the odds at the moment she still have the biggest chance to win, her and Jon Henrik have the best odds for the win. Loreen lost in 2017 because of politics. If her song this time won't have politics in it and it sounds even better than Euphoria, then how can we say no to it?
@@lemonsunshines601 politic? I dont remember the song or the stage had anything to dowith politics? I just thought the song sucked. Thats why I didnt vote for it.
@@JohanLaferte Fair enough, we all have our different taste. 😅 Do you know the story about the woman with the handbag? Loreens song is about her. Or she used her in her song. The family got mad at Loreen for having her in her song and many didn't vote for her because of that.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Woman_with_the_Handbag
@@lemonsunshines601 odds mean nothing this early. She already won once, why would we vote for her again? We do not like returnees to win..
IT'S HAPPENING
i'm going to the rehearsal in gothenburg on the friday, if you ever need a travel guide i'm right here bestie!!
Nordman are said to have a contender song I read and also tone.
Let's see if the expectations will be justified
Ooooo
Wiktoria
Yay, you're back!
Gotta say, I agree 100% on Paul Ray. He really needs to bring us some R&B. I highly doubt he will tho.
His earlier songs has been really disappointing for me honestly. He is so much better than the songs he has brought to the competition imo
I would say Nordman is more Medieval/Viking/Folk than rock. They competed in melfest 05 and 08
Even better.
@@AlesiaMichellethey beat Carola in 2008 in Andra Chansen even 😂
@@tom_4546 Of course they did, Nordman is a respecteble band being loved by many, that year they were better then Carola. Carola always did better when she sung solo but in 2008 she sung a duett with a guy not as popular. Her song that time were also quite forgetteble. The same popstar aint always the biggest favorite.
@@lemonsunshines601 Yeah but she was expecting to qualify
@@tom_4546 I guess your right
So hope Laurell does well
Alessia do you think Louane could be a good singer for Represent France at Eurovision Song Contest 2023
ALESIA IS BACKKKK
Hey.
I would make it a rule that all countries are represented with songs in their own native languages for that's what made Eurovision so special when I was a kid, you couldn't hear Scandinavian languages anywhere else.
Nowadays you can hear songs from everywhere anytime you like, so you don't need Eurovision for that. It's not the 90s anymore, so going back to those language rules that just limits the artists, and would just make less people wanting to be in the contest. It's better if people are free.
I think it's great if people want to sing in native language, I don't mind that at all, but _forcing_ people to do it, against their will? That is not ok, artists should be free to create music the way they like it, not be bound be rules. Like should we limit what people are allowed to wear too, they should only be allowed to wear traditional costumes from their country, have traditional instruments on stage, and only do traditional dances aswell?
I like that there is variety in the contest, that some sing in native languages, and other don't. Forcing everyone to to the same thing would make it boring, imho.
@@Asa...S people come with songs in English by default thinking they would reach more audience and get more votes. Just one more example how English is culturally smothering all other languages in Europe and Eurovision should be about diversity instead.
@@Mloofylicious In the top 10 last year the majority out of the 10 was in their native languages, so it's quite obvious that singing in native languages (as a choice, not a rule!) gives a lot of votes. There are even some voters who doesn't even care about the song and are like "I will only vote for those who sings in their native language".
If you force all the artists to do the exact same thing, sing in native languages, that's not diversity. The beauty of Eurovision is the freedom to express yourself the way, _you_ like, not oppression and force.
Just let everyone sing in the language they want to
Marcus & Martinus are Norwegian.
Lovely piece of cross pollination there.
The only thing I'm nervous about is that Jon Henrik is participating with DJ's... as a Swede I KNOW something like his music is what people want and it's GOOD, but doing a house music thing about it?.... idkkk girl
We shall see....
Alessia can you react to the German selection for Eurovision Song Contest 2023
Just give the trophy to Loreen already.
Ukrainian girl is going to win
i dont think she will win.
@@alohim1573 be ready then sadly :(
@@tom_4546 I don't know. Her songwriters are not that good

Heeey 😄
Oh
LorQueen?! I am here for the dramaaaaaaaa
If they didnt want loreen to go to the final they would have put her with jon henrik and wiktoria again 😅
Production team loves drama in Melo
Laurell is very popular in Germany
If sweden takes the chance of sending a swedish song and it doesnt come at least top 10, they will never send a swedish entry ever again
We wont because most of the Swedish language songs quite frankly are bad. They are just there to fill up the heats...
I have a problem with Jon Henrik. I am swedish and almost everytime I see him on tv, in a news article or interview he whines about how tough life has been and is. There seems to aIways be a new disaster to "cry" about in media ir revisit an old one. I would have been more positive to him as an artist if he showed some positivity sometimes.
Norman is folk pop, not rock
Tone is an terrible singer so I don't see them make it far if they don't utilize a sob story
it seems she has a strong song and last yeay the backing vocals kinda helped to ignore this.
Jon Henrik is so boring!!!!! Loreen is super exciting!!!! Marcus and Martinus is a BIG DEAL!!!!!
I am so disappointed with the lack of ANY knowledge of Melodifestivalen and the Swedish music market.
Some things I feel like pointing out to you:
Heat 1: Jon Henrik is not doing anything ethnic fully since he is teamed up with a big DJ. Which you seemed to completely overlook.
Heat 2: Nothing to complain about here.
Heat 3: Laurell is a complete nobody in Sweden, people don't know who is that. She will be lucky ti get to the semifinal. Not knowing who Marcus & Martinus and Nordman are shocked me the most. They are basically locked for TOP 4.
Heat 4: Overlooking Kiana (famous from Talang) and Emil (a TikTok star) is not too professional as well.
Obviously the songs are not there, the speculations are on and it could all seem very much open. But it strikes really hard when you watch a "Eurovision Blogger" who clearly does not know as much as one should.
I enjoy watching your videos, Alesia. But as a person that devotes time to watching and supporting your content I feel like you have not prepared yourself in the slightest bit. And I find it incredibly sad. Hope you have fun in Malmo should you go there!
It's a "reaction"... To have researched each individual act before would have been cheating. After this video the deep dives begin... as always. Also the claim of me having no knowledge of Melodifestivalen and the Swedish music market is a gross exaggeration. But thanks for the comment.
Imagine writing a freaking book critisicing someone for not knowing things 99% of swedes doesnt even know, and you for real expect her to just out of the blue know things 3 sec after her live reaction of herself finding out who will participate. You arent a smart one, are you?
What? The whole point of her reacting is for her to show her first reactions to the artists, that's what people want to see right after artists are announced...
