People are missing the most insane part, where the drummer breaks the baton at 13:15 and just swaps it out for a new one without skipping a beat!
Yo nice catch
That and when he starts using his head.
It didn’t break he kept switching the baton many times in the video because each one have kind of different sound
Nah man it totally broke, unless he switches between them by dropping the current one out by tossing it behind him
Militarum Tempestus Scion if you look to the video you will notes that he kept switching the baton even in 13:15

This should've been the opening ceremony at the Japan Olympics.
Instead we got some garbage demon slayer anime deadass opening. This olympics was a massive cringe feast, japan really tried to shoehorn garbage mainstream anime into everything and thus it turned to this shit. And the fact that they excluded ichigo from the group of big 4 pisses me off. It seems these days all you need is a little bit of clout and nobody seems to respect good works that I consider art.

Is shamisen harder than lead guitar?
@@superbarnie yes definitely, there's no frets, you have to pluck with with both hands, and grip that you hold the bachi (pick) does a number on you hands.
@@teatool6903 is that how the instrument is able to sound so fast with its notes, since there’s technically being twice the amount played?
@@teatool6903 @superbarnie Shamisen player here! I wouldnt call the shamisen particularly more difficult than other instruments. The player here displays some insane skill thats for sure. The argument that every instrument that has no frets is immediately insanely difficult is nonsense. Yes, especially for people who started with a key instrument like the piano or a string instrument like the harp, where each string had a set tone, it can take some time to get the intonation right, but look at cellos, viola, double bass and so on...not impossible. And the bachi only gets difficult to hold if you use the wrong technique. It feels unusual at first, but also: no big deal after some practice. I usually dont like comparing instruments, because each instrument comes with its own technique and challenges.
@@TheCopyNinja733 probably. Im not quite sure what you mean with double as fast, but the plucking technique is called "hajiki" and is used very often in tsugaru shamisen. By quickly plucking the string with your left hand you can make some cool ornamentations, making the sound play twice really fast.

I feel like people always dismiss percussionists as having the easy role. "LMAO, you're just hitting stuff with a stick!" Watch that drummer, the absolute mastery he has over his instrument, how careful his movements actually are, listen to his dynamics. He is a true virtuoso. I don't care if you're listening to Japanese classical music, western classical music, or pop music, NEVER dismiss your percussionists. They can make or break the entire performance.
Before the shamisen comes in, he is giving an absolute master class in how many diverse timbres and textures you can get out of a single drum. Listen for how differently the low resonating tone is or isn't ensconced in our masked by the higher frequency bands of noise. That first stage of the performance could have been many times longer and it would still have been far from boring.
