I appreciate how she emphasized that it's never too late to start learning a new language. While it may be easier for kids, adults can still reap the benefits of multilingualism too.
Such a powerful topic! Being Multi-lingual has been a blessing for myself and my work! We must keep mother-tongues alive and strong... keeping language alive keeps cultures preserved ! ❤️🙏🏼
Tatiana, I so identify with the concept of multilingualism in the family. There was a beautiful connection between my parents who did not know English and my kids who had learned their mother tongue. It's an important subject to talk about.
Cognitive benefits, cultural benefits, relatability benefits, and inclusionary benefits - multi-lingualism would seriously change our world for the better. I'm grateful to Tatiana for sharing her eloquent and compelling message.
Tatjana, I know only too well the feeling of being deprived When my parents omit to speak to me in Hebrew, the language of my birth when we moved. This message needs to be given in schools so that our children our future leaders can know the impact of the lack of Multi-lingualism in our society. And the importance of the 3 c’s compassion, connection and cultural acceptance in diversity when embraced. Bringing awareness and light to this important matter is genius, thanks for all the research you did to educate us about the severity of something we may not have otherwise noticed, the numerous languages being in danger of extinction is something I was not aware of. I’m happy to do my part to help spread the awareness. There is strength in numbers let’s unite and conquer! Bravo Tatjana keep leading the way and we will follow♥️💃🏻🦉💯
Absolutely! Ability to sustain and strengthen family bonds, pass down generational knowledge and traditions, are some of the most important aspects of preserving mother tongues.
Multilingual is very interesting for those who have tried it. The most touching part is the preservation of our mother tounges. I got to think and appreciate the fact that if we practice to protect our own languages, we have an opportunity to maintain our identities . Thank you very much for the great work . This is a talk we should keep on going
She makes some great points about the cognitive benefits of multilingualism. Improved memory, problem-solving skills, attention, and creativity - those are huge advantages for kids!
So inspiring to see that my message resonated! My wish is for all the kids around the world to be able to take advantage of opportunities that come with multilingualism🤩❤️
This is such a powerful talk . We need mother tongues. There are some things that are lost in translation . We must preserve the cultures , memories , connections and languages of so many . Thank you for sharing this enlightening talk. It is needed , your voice is needed. Thank you 🎉🎉🎉🎉
The story about the grandmother not being able to communicate with her granddaughter was so heartbreaking but a very good example of why it's so important to promote and maintain multilingualism within families.
The suggestions for promoting multilingualism in everyday life are practical and impactful! Love the idea that we can all start small and work together towards something bigger.
You are exactly right- this is for everyone! And, we can start taking small steps: learn a word in a foreign language, listen to a song, check what languages were spoken by your ancestors, teach someone a word in your mother tongue, …. possibilities are endless ❤
As someone who grew up bilingual, I understand the value of preserving languages. It's not just about communication; it's about identity and connecting with your roots. I didn't get it when I was a kid but I do now.
Loved hearing about the cognitive benefits of multilingualism! It's intriguing and makes a lot of sense! Would love to see some long-term studies of this
Beautiful talk! Such a poised speaker. And what an important topic! Fascinating research shared that children who learn and practice multiple languages are more empathetic than their monolingual counterparts! Much of our world is so impacted right now because of our extreme "empathy deficit." The three C's you shared continue to make me think and ponder. Thank you!
The stats on language extinction are alarming - 40% of the world's languages endangered?! We need more initiatives like what she suggests to preserve linguistic diversity before it's too late.
the idea that language is a bedrock of cultural identity is so true, I've always thought that how the language literally sounds is also a good reflection of the culture
Absolutely. Big reason for my mission to spread the awareness - more people know, more parents know, more teachers know, more leaders know, more opportunities will be created for children, and current and future generations ❤
Tatjana! I am in awe of the power and timeliness of this message delivered through your sweet, strong soul. Holy Spirit bless you! I hope so many more people get to listen so we can steward these beautiful and diverse tongues!
I'm curious about what would need to happen in order to support multilingual education globally. It seems there's a gap between awareness and practical resources. Would be pretty cool to be able to do something to help fill it!
The statistics on language extinction are pretty alarming especially when you think about how every language lost is a piece of cultural heritage that's gone forever.
Wow, what a lovely soul. I'm so moved by her care and passion. I'm inspired and feel I've been educated in a way that shifted my perspective. Why? Because I have never really given this any thought before. Thank you.
While I appreciate the sentiment, isn't it more important for immigrants to learn the language of their new country? Preserving heritage is valuable, but shouldn't integration into society also be a priority?
Absolutely, learning the language of one's new country is very important for integration and participation in society. However, preserving one's heritage language enriches cultural diversity, strengthens (and preserves) family bonds, and enhances personal identity, adding even more value to the new society, such as in businesses and cross-cultural interactions, without hindering integration.
It's disheartening to hear about the stigma some face for speaking their native language. How can we change societal perceptions and celebrate linguistic diversity without judgment?

I never realized how many cognitive benefits multilingualism has - really fascinating stuff!

What a beautiful, passionate lecture. It’s inspired me to work harder at improving me second language skills-it’s not too late at 59! ❤
Wonderful! Thank you for this!!
Couldn't agree more, the way it helps cognitive function alone should be enough proof for why this is important
