    Another great review Hsiang! The Inmotion V5F was my first wheel and in spite of LOVING my Z10 - which your videos got me into - I still ride it four days out of seven! Why? because of the two incredibly important things you touch on in this review - lighter weight and excellent trolley handle. These factors can't be stressed enough if you want your wheel to be your buddy to hang out with. It was also it's cheapness compared to everything else around - the point you illustrated so well with the Honda Super Cub comparison. Learning the EUC can be a messy business and I'm glad I went cheap to at least not hurt my wallet as well as my shins! But a great bonus with Inmotion wheels is the padded cover - that saved a ton of scratches. Also, once I'd finished trashing it, I was able to buy a new cover, two new shells, two new pedals plus a new trolley handle which were readily available. Et voilà - good as new!
    My only slight disagreement with your review was about it the V8F (and Inmotion wheels in general?) lacking style. I actually think they have a lot of style, in a sleek, minimalist way. Far more than every Gotway for example. Far more than Kingsong wheels too, for that matter! Only the wheels from Ninebot top them for looks, but One S2 and Z10s outdo every other wheel on the market in that department. Interestingly, Kingsong tried to style the 16X to capture some of the Z10's effortless cool and I think Gotway have tried hard to achieve 'the Inmotion look' with the Nikola. So image-wise big thumbs up to Inmotion!
    Sorry for the long comment, but like Z10s, Inmotions are wheels I care about, sad to say!

    • @OWGAC
      @OWGAC  Před 4 lety +2

      I don't disagree with you on the design, Its like comparing Samsung phone design with Apple's. Not that Samsung lack style, just that Apple has an extra level of refinement and thoughtfulness when it comes to design. Inmotion wheels looks good, but it isn't quite at the level to inspire the level of techno lust that some other product does. Like a Harley or a Ducati bike

    • @60viking

    Inmotion V8 is the wheel I learned to ride on and I've also used it to commute to work for about 6 months. The points touched upon here is absolutely correct it is very nice for commuting. It has decent performance, its reliable, it has a very good trolley handle and is light enough to carry up and down stairs with relative ease and the cutoff switch works every time.
    I'm probably looking at upgrading to a KS16X soon, but the V8 is still a very nice unicycle, especially if your trip involves trains and stairs.

    • @OWGAC
      @OWGAC  Před 4 lety +1

      EUC are still pretty new and the higher end wheels like the 16x can be a bit finnicky so it won't hurt to have a back up wheel plus you'll prob still use that V8 for shorter distance runs and/or when you know you'll have to go up and down stairs

    • @gstbad
      @gstbad Před 4 lety

      Indeed. And it can ride easily under heavy rain, no problem. However, the tilt back is a bit too soft and there isn't that much power. My v8 had a cutoff the other and 20 miles per hour and I didn't even feel the tilt back. Bad crash. Injured shoulder still hurts 3 months later...

    • @Sunesen
      @Sunesen Před 4 lety

    • @OWGAC
      @OWGAC  Před 4 lety +6

      It's a very likable wheel, yes not comparable to the performance of Gotway or kingsong but some time it isn't about speed!

      @flhandster4395 Před 4 lety +1

      Hsiang When you say the InMotion wheels do not compare to the “PERFORMANCE” of the Gotway or KS wheels, can you please expound upon the specifics of that observation? Thank you!

    • @WensWorld
      @WensWorld Před 4 lety +2

      He's talking about the current lineup of high-end wheels: Gotway and kingsong high end wheels such as the Nikola, MSX, 16x, and 18xl. Inmotion's fastest wheel, the v10F, cannot compete against these wheels on speed and range. However, it is priced accordingly at several hundred dollars less.
      I'm not sure Inmotion will ever produce a 25mph+ wheel as they seem to have not pursued the extreme performance route, but rather focus on safety, high quality design and components, and ergonomics.

Plus I can use it to teach others. Pretty sure if I had started with the MSX 100V I would have really hurt myself. That wheel is fast and powerful and you can say you won't go that fast but it likes to go!

    I’ve had my Inmotion for under a about 10 months and already have about 1300 miles on it. I bought it because of the price $899 from ewheels. Something that was affordable for a 57y/o. It’s a good first wheel. I’m hoping Inmotion comes out with a new faster longer range wheel before I have to change the tire, If this would have been your first wheel maybe you would have thought more highly of this wheel. Not everyone can justify Spending $2000 dollars on a first wheel

    I think it is a great intro wheel if someone is not sure if they are going to like EUCing -- hits all the upper points of ok power, ok range and good comfort at a reasonable price point compared other smaller wheels.

    Hsiang Nice review on the V8F. I’m in the market for my first wheel and I am looking for a great balance of range, speed, price, and hill climb. I was leaning towards the V8F since it sounded like a good compromise between having a few V10 features while maintaining a specific price point. This review really solidified my suspicion that I really should be looking at the V10. So instead of say $1100 for my first wheel but now $1200. But wait! A dealer has the V10 at a $100 off! So, I was willing to blow $1100 on a wheel, might as well go with the V10, which has better everything.
    It would have been nice to be able to blow cash on these other super brands like the KS or GW (that’s $2000 plus right there) but I think the most bang for my cash, buck for buck will be the V10, even if it was not on sale. Thanks for confirming my thoughts with this review.

    I like the trolley handle from Inmotion over Kingsong because of the angle of the Kingsong handle you can not lean it on a wall. The wheel will always turn unless you block it with your feet. I am used to leaning the wheel against the wall so that the body contacts the wall directly, also for me the cutoff switch on the KS was slightly easier to use since the wheel doesn't have to come to a complete stop before the switch activate. But it's prob a matter of what you get use to.

    IMO the Inmotion product is easily the best starter wheel and possibly the best overall for far causal and last mile riders. If you go by specs the wheel will appear to be not in the top of its class but the specs don't tell the whole story. It is just a better manufactured and thought out product with the engineering details and wheel nuances.
    I started with a KS18XL, then a Mten3 and then a V10F. The V10F is an overall superior platform, especially for new riders or people whose motor-coordination skills may be on the older side or less confident.

I just bought a new V8F, and when I turn it on, it makes a high-pitched scratchy sound (kinda like static+interference) that's not too loud but definitely noticeable. It stops when I press the button under the handle, and starts again when released. InMotion tells me this is normal, but it seems very strange. I would think when sitting idle, it should be silent, like an electric car or e-scooter. Was that your experience as well?

As chinese products, maintenance and warranty/customers services are awful most of the time. Thats why I left my v5f to go back riding my bicycle again which is more reliable, easier to maintain and repair, better range, safer (brake control...), no battery or range issue etc... I still have fun with my wheel from time to time but it didnt pass my daily usage testing.

      @OWGAC  Před 4 lety +3

      for the most part EUCs are pretty reliable, comparing with some of the other EVs outhere. there're just a bit less parts that can give you problems. But of course its hard to beat a bicycle which has been perfected for a hundred year!

    • @MrTigidoo
      @MrTigidoo Před 4 lety

      I dont know what do you considers as "reliable". You can litterally keep a bicycle for decades, my frame has a lifetime warranty .... Is there any euc on the market that can offer such reliability ? For the same price as a Z10 for ex, you can easily find a bike at least twice or more lighter and almost as fast on the road without any electronics or battery issue. I know euc market are still in development but I doubt they will ever reach such level of reliability than bicycles. In my experience of daily commuter euc are still a tough investment gadget.

    • @bobdebouwer7835
      @bobdebouwer7835 Před rokem

      @@MrTigidoo if you compare then compare it to something motorised like gasoline powered scooter. Euc is cheap for something motorised. On maintenance it's probably not more expensive then a scooter. Just 2 bearings. A tire, a battery and maybe a new main board. There are Airwheel x3 euc's 10 years old now and still working. I crashed one so hard hard so many times that it finally broke. A bike would have broken sooner. Opened it up, the battery had a sticker labeled year 2013!
      Also you save in fuel, as electricity is cheaper.
      But euc is physically unstable and more risky. There's no denying that. It's not made purely to be the cheapest nor most efficient transport.
      it's also made for having a fun and a challenge.
      It's still a niche market and small scale production is always more expensive.
      A bike is better in many ways . Doenst need a battery. Less pollution.
      I'd say people should sell euc's as soon as they don't use it anymore. That way other interested people can buy a used one instead of a new one which take new resources.
      Btw, bikes need some maintenance. And in many countries it's very expensive if you can't do it yourself.
      I think euc's and bikes have some overlap but can't replace each other.
      If you can live without the fun of an euc then a bike is the wise option.

    It is about same price(if not cheaper nowadays), same speed - 35kmh, 21,7 mph, has speakers, Led’s, has MORE power, 2000Eatt motor, has MORE range, 840wh, has MORE safety, as it is 4parallel packs 40Amps, instead of just 2 like the V8/f, with just 20Amps, has a better trolley, a better speed reduction, as it only starts on 40-50%, and not on 80% as on the 8f.....
