This is the heart of my territory. I drive in this area every day for work, an average of 400+ miles per day. There's a huge lake at each end of this route, and a small to medium lake in the middle. Lake Palestine, on the east end, is absolutely stunning, and an excellent capture of the beauty of East Texas, with its rolling hills and lush pine forests. In the middle is Lake Athens, a secluded spot hidden in the woods with limited public access, given over mostly to home ownership. On the west is the massive Cedar Creek Lake, which is all about fishing. Here you can see million dollar lakefront mansions next to a trailer park.
East Texas is my favorite part of the Lone Star State.
