I love it. And will be using this method this October. Maybe to alleviate the arm vs the door issue, do the arms on a small piece of wood(similar to the base) and screw in from the inside of the tube.

Good job! I plan on making a few of these for my yard as well as an 8 or 9' bigfoot statue with moving head. I may use some of these forms that you used, for the legs and to help support the trunk or main body area...

Thanks for your great instructions! I figured out how I can use plastic coffee containers for the trunk, and then I’ll add character to it with newspapers and aluminum foil covered with masking tape. I’ll also shape the top of the tree with cardboard.
Anytime I can find a way to use up some of my plastic containers I go for it.

LOVE this video! im making one this year and only bought ONE tube for the trunk. Do you think if i used card board to create a top half to the trunk that it would look OK? I have to be able to transport it since im using it for a party at someone ELSE house lol.

Love the way these look, really cool. Any tips for making them more weather-proof? I would want to leave outside in October, which can be cold and rainy here.

How well does the material hold up in rain?

    • @patrickoxenham4693

not well, waterproofing is very much needed. I used spray foam and polyacrylic clear spray for mine and they will resist rain but its best to cover them of bring them inside for rain. I did however see that someone lined their tubes with chicken wire and then using the spray foam, this would likely work because even thought the cardboard breaks down in the rain, the chicken wire will retain the structure with the assistance of the spray foam.
