    Think about this...Roger submitted the most decorated BJJ artist in the world using, for the most part, basic white belt techniques executed with a PhD level of mastery that no one on earth can match.
    Roger Gracie is the GOAT.

      although white belts might learn how to take the back and go for a bow and arrow.. it takes years to master they way this entire flow occurred. Its not "white belt" technique. its simply BJJ fundamental techniques.

      @@douglass4637 I happen to fight and I agree with them. Roger simply had the answer for everyone. He had the right amount of everything blended to make a killer against anyone. You don't have to compete to see the difference. I am a huge Buchecha fan also, but I know honesty when its stated. Roger Gracie is 2nd only to Rickson in the family pecking order. Kron is 3rd.

    Roger is the king of fundamental jiu jitsu and he shows the world how effective just basic jiu jitsu is by submitting Marcus here.
    I did a seminar with Roger here in Denver Colorado. He didn’t show anything we hadn’t seen before. But he did show little refinements that made it all much better. Amazing seminar.

    Just a blue belt here, but one of the reasons I love watching Roger compete so much is he's by and large using techniques I know. And he's beating the best in the world that way. It really makes me appreciate how much attention I should be paying to the details of the white belt techniques I know.

      I did jiujitsu for some time now and let me tell you the comments here are some of the most stupid things i've read, in an other match buchecha could have won this, he had a bad throw down, Roger got into his favorite position by luck found a patch to buchecha back and the match was over, if the throw down was in buchecha favor Roger would have been taped out they are both very high level and at this level it's like a horse race many factors go into account but individually both really can win, stop with your BS critics.

      Pretty much, I was talking to my coach the other day about why BJJ wasn't in the Olympics. He told me that the Olympics would just make too many rules for it and masters always fight calmly. Apparently blue belts and white belts tend to fight more recklessly

    What is amazing to me is that all it takes is Roger to commit 1 single time, and when he decides to then you’re immediately in severe danger. He pulled guard 1 single time... and once he did it took less than 2 minutes for him to get the back and secure that choke. Think about that for a second

      I love the way bjj guys rename all the judo chokes, with stupid names like the bow and arrow choke. Okuri eri jime is thé choke. It is in the Kodakan judo list of chokes.

    The end for Buchecha started when Roger made the cross sleeve grip at 8:12. That grip dominated Buchecha's ability to post and stopped him from making any significant movements. He kept that grip all the way until he went for the choke. Awesome match between two legends!

      Roger switches hands at 8:23 when he grips with his right and releases his left, allowing him to pivot around and take the back. Buchecha is unable to stop the collar grip because his hand is out of

      T James not strictly speaking, it’s mainly genetic and a sensitivity to DHT. Otherwise why don’t all bodybuilders get Male pattern baldness only some if they’re all using similar dosages ? Just like growing a beard it’s genetic and can be sped or up slowed down by presence of androgens

    The man of the video for me was Renzo Gracie. @09:12 While everyone was celebrating and getting caught up in the moment and Buchecha was just seating there fresh from his loss, Renzo was such a good sport to be the first to walk over to Buchecha (Possibly to also make sure the celebrating crowd does not ram into him lol) and show some respect and care for him. It means alot to the loser when his efforts receive recognition and respect too. :)

      Concordo. Sou fã demais do Roger, mas o final a invasão de tatame foi absurda. Desrespeito com tatame e com o Buchecha. Teve um dos Gracie que mostrou pq é realmente um mestre e ao invés de ir lá comemorar, foi lá no Buchecha.

    I went to a single Roger seminar when he came to my area, and the detail of explaining basic stuff like even holding mount, was insane. I remember I thought to myself wow, I'd been doing this wrong for years lmao. After his seminar, for sure I started submitting people much easier. lucky those that train with him daily

    Sou admirador do jiu-jitsu e da família de lutadores Gracie. A luta foi excepcional, ambos lutadores foram bem. O Marcus Almeida muito bem, além de ter enfrentado a dinastia Gracie, enfrentou o Roger Gracie. O que teve de negativo foi a invasão da área de luta e, o que me surpreendeu muito foi, a invasão por parte de mestres disciplinadores agindo contra o quê ensinam, cometendo falta desonrosa e indisciplinada.

    Muito legal ver a pegada do Roger na mão esquerda do Buchecha sendo dominada até o final, Roger dominou ela em pé e só soltou pra atacar o pescoço. Ele joga esse game em outro nível.

    That is the dream. Progressing mastery of the foundational moves to such a point that you can disable a true warrior with calm and precision. That economy of motion, to me, is one of the most beautiful things in martial arts. Like a musician that never wastes distance from the frets or the keys.

      and his grip is strong af. There's another video where guy has a grip on Rogers lapel iirc. Roger goes to strip it and rips the dudes gi sleeve in half down the seam like it was nothing.
