    All that beautiful electrified industrial railway ... gone. :(
    If I were cleverer than I am, I would do a version of this video that simultaneously shows the location of the train on a present day satellite map to really get a feel of where it's going and how the area's changed. It's a totally labyrinthine system of tracks ... and beautifully gritty 90s Sydney on a freezing August arvo, with its healthy manufacturing sector and real publicly owned goods rail system. Miss the whole vibe of that late SRA/early CityRail era so much.

    Great vid of how it was.......I remember one morning getting off at Welders to go to the Erecting Shop and it was raining heavily....the rattler headed off to go up the hill to Perway but only got about 1/2 way before wheel slip brought him to a stop.
    We stopped to watch as he reversed the train back down the hill and back through Welders and around the bend.Then he came back, pretty much full speed with horn blaring straight through welders, over the level crossing and up the hill.......success!!!
    Never forget it.....thanks for the vid.

    Thanks for filming all this stuff. I was a driver at Flemo from '85 to '94 and never thought of filming anything back then. I do have a still of myself with the train at Sigway though. The 'little railway' down the hill to the right always fascinated me but I never got a chance to take a close look at it. Thanks again.

    Awesome content especially now considering how much of the area has changed so much.👍

    Is this train a *Red Rattler* H depot assignment? As today a H is a H-Set AKA Oscar!

    • @ozrail1
      @ozrail1  Před 4 lety +3

      First station is Boshops "A" then Welders (near Hume Highway) and last station is Sigway.

      I would say sigway is located somewhere around Anzac St and Muir Rd. It's hard to say though! The track used to run straight through where news limited and primo foods are on the hume hwy... Someone who caught that train back in the day would have a better idea about it's actual location.

      Have a look at 1986 or 1991 and will see exactly where it went. It also shows the complete Ropes creek line as well as I'm pretty sure you did a video on it as well
