@@swamuelc6691 I live in the interior of Rio De Janeiro. I find it very peaceful to ride my bike at night. I ride a lot. Both on asphalt and on dirt roads. These places where I go are very far away. Thieves and possible murderers are asleep at this time. And all this landscape at night, illuminated by a full moon and good music... it's perfect.

@@swamuelc6691 I've been listening to this band for a while now, and they have become one of my favorites for when I want to relax while cycling. It's been a go-to choice during late-night rides or when the sun has just risen. Their music has been inspiring me as I work on some scripts. Enjoy their performance on my behalf.

I have to agree with Marshall Tappe on this. I call Donald Trump out whenever I feel it's justified, which is often, but this isn't the time. The customs officials that sent them back aren't acting on orders. Some bands get through when they did not, but Sxsw is not a small venue. I mean, they were going on a whole tour. The proper visas should have been used, period. Because of the sensitive nature of the political climate right now, this was blown out of proportion. It's easy to think Trump had something to do with it, but, I have to side with my moral-compass and say that Trump was just used as a scapegoat for this particular instance. You wouldn't have heard about this if the climate wasn't as it is now.
Like myself, most of you are here because of the statement that was released by the band regarding the deportation. Be happy that you discovered them. Focus on that. Were it not for the country being so divided right now, you most likely wouldn't be here giving a comment, and their statement would have never spread. In the end, you still were able to hear them. I can't think of any other way how this could have been a more successful "promotional" event, unintentional or otherwise.

+Marshall Tappe Why are you here? I'm not spouting praise to spite any person/thing/cause. I like their music. If it was a stunt, it was brilliant. There are so many bands that get overlooked these days, in favor of junk. This is good music. If you have a list of bands you would like attention called to, list them, and I would be more than happy to listen and go from there. See how that works, networking? Even through your negativitity, I'm willing to listen to what you have to say, or who you have to play.
In other words, they aren't just promoting themselves, they're promoting the whole subculture. I've found several bands that I never would have known about if it wasn't for this "stunt". They did the little guys a favor, any way you cut it. If you aren't cool with that, well then, damn, you're just a salty one. But I believe you are better than that.
+Marshall Tappe I completely agree with you. I don't, scratch that, I know this isn't the doing of the Trump administration, as much as I dislike Trump. You are correct, this has been happening a long time, and for it to get attention now is kind of lopsided. The fact remains though, that I discovered music out of this mess, and so did a lot of other people. It's the silver lining. It's all about the music, man.
Yeah, I get the same vibe from their music. While they are far from perfect, I think it's the nostalgia that gets me. I have a soft spot for 80's style anything. Be it commercials, movies, music, cartoons, or even toys. I'm not a musician, so my ear isn't as trained as yours to pick out the flaws. I have never heard of Clan of Xymox, but I'll go check them out right now, along with the others you mentioned that I've never heard of. My taste varies much the way yours does. Fats Waller is one of my favs (By the light of the silvery moon). My mother used to play Cat Stevens for me in my crib, love him, and then my dad would come in and play Neil Young and Led Zeppelin. The way I understand it, this was a great era in music (early 70's) partly because of the politics at the time, and the divided nature of the country. But I wasn't alive then, so I really only know what I read, listen to, and hear anecdotally. I'm not huge on lyrics either, unless it' from someone like Neil Young. A lot of times, i find it hard to understand them anyway. If I get a song stuck in my head, it's the melody/tune. Oh! Can't forget The Roches. Their harmony is unparalleled in my opinion. Hammond song is one of my favs from them. I don't have them on vinyl, but I'd love to. Hmmm, I think I'll go search on Ebay. Thanks for the inspiration! Enjoyed the discussion. Take care.
G Ste deportation makes you a fan, that seems unusual, as though proactivity and awareness prior to would have rendered such a move null in void but then you also wouldn't be a fan because public popularity and unrelated news makes you feel something the paper doesn't

Just found out that Soviet Soviet had a "new" record and listened through.
Not to be the voice of dissent but.... heard it all before on Fate. And Fate was great but i don't need a second record of the same. I wish they'd experiment a little more with their sound. Even the production is exactly the same.
i'm dropping out if their next one is the same. I understand having kind of a sound but i prefer a little more evolution from my bands.
Mind you..Interpol only had two good records. Post punk bands often get themselves stuck in a musical rut fast it seems.
I think that if you want that, this is not the genre for you, the downfall of allmost all bands is being to experimental, yeah, something new can be done, but this album is the best of Soviet, by far, and by much, and thats why is being love.
I think that criteria like yours, make great bands like Editors "evolving" into the dipshit that are today, compared to their last good album The Weight of Your Love, very diferent from previous of their work, but yet amazing, they just keep the "experimental" trend, and what they should do is more of the new and same at the time.
In my opinion, Soviet did gold with this album even against Fate.

Read the article and you will see that Immigration and Customs have been lenient in the past when it is bout artists. The misunderstanding here was simple. They are traveling on a special permit called Esta which is given to foreigners to enter the US, it is a permit to come in but they cannot make any money out of that visit. The Dept of Immigration and Custom assumed--in spite of the fact they had spoken to the venue and the record company and they both had said the band was not getting paid, that they were getting paid.. They are not the first band to have this kind of problem, but always, the problem is straightened out, this time it was not.
