No soundcheck done before recording? Can't hear even the faintest sound...

Maybe the music used was copyright infringed that it had to be on mute..

The over exagerated fall and rise is theatrical affectation applied for competition. Through this Foxtrot becomes like Waltz, and Waltz becomes like Foxtrot. Consider the world of dog breeding as an analogy. Over time, if judges do not score dogs according to size standards that have limits, the dogs get bigger and bigger through many generations. In dancing one might wonder why Russians have not eclipsed English dancers at Blackpool. This has not happened because judges have yet to allow dramatic theatrics to overshadow written standards. Eventually, the written standard is rewritten in favor of affectations that judges favor. Thereby dance evolves.

I notice quite a few toe leads by both when dancing forward - heel - toe is normal

Seems to me that you're slightly mistaken. The Slows are all on H with (every now and then) a slight toe-skimming before (marvellous!). And the Quicks are on Ball, of course without the 1st one in the three step.

Heel toe is normal when going forward if the extent of your ballroom knowledge is American Bronze.
