Another great video, thx Tom😃
Thanks Eric! Appreciate you taking the time to Watch!
Thanks for this one. Great info
Thanks for Watching CJ
KJ=Add on gimmicks
AK=Great value for money 💰
Tom. I watched your video last May about the Auto Kamado and bought the Char Griller. I love the auto kamado. I want char griller to replicate the auto kamado to a wood pellet grill. Keep up the great work!!🎉🎉
Thanks for Watching! That would be awesome!
Tom as always thank you for the video and of coarse the Acorn for me and it will preform just as well for faaaar less!
Thanks for Watching Robert! Agreed!
Been cooking on my Auto Kamado since Xmas. Wife got it for as a present at Walmart for $220 on sale. Absolutely love it. First 2 cooks I over lighted it with just one Weber wax cube, and it over shot 225 by 80 degrees. Light it sparingly, and let the fan do the rest. Oh. And it’s super efficient. Charcoal goes forever.
Thanks for Watching David! You are correct!
Great comparison. Off subject: Nexgrill has a 4 burner gas grill on sale at HD. Do you like that brand? Thanks so much for imparting all of your knowledge and experience from the Land O’ Grills!
Thanks for Watching! I’ve had and still have a Nexgrill pellet grill, it’s very heavy duty. If the gas grills are the same then yes
Tom! I bought the autokomodo after you did your review. This is my #1 grill now! Got mine for $350, then Wally World. Then they had a reduced price to $150, and I told my friends 3 of them got it for that price! This grill is so awesome, mostly since you can use your drill battery to run it, instead of A/C! The casted iron grade sears perfectly!
Thanks for Watching Jim! Appreciate the feedback!
What do you use to use your drill battery to run it?
Thanks for watching Paul usb adapter from HF
Great video! I wondered the same thing. I also got an AK for $225 last year and I really like it. I would never spend $1700 on a grill. I am guessing, based on the AK, that unlike the Masterbuilt Gravity series, you cannot drastically change the temp through the app as the vents need to be manually set. The pressing the button to light the charcoal is a lot more boring than torching or flame gunning the charcoal to get it going.
Thanks for Watching Mike! You are correct on the vent. Appreciate the feedback
G'day Tom, great video. This comparison is very accurate. Buying BBQs is similar to Hi Fi products. People think because their product is 4 or 5 times more expensive, that It has to be better. This is of course is not true.
The Akorn is a marvellous cooker. Akorn is using a different technique to insulate its BBQs compared to the ceramic style cooker.
After 40 + years in the building/insulating industry, I believe the Akorn approach is smarter and more hi tech as it's using light weight materials to achieve the same outcome, but at a fraction of the cost and a fraction of the weight.
If the tables were reversed and the Akorn was far more expensive than the ceramic models, I would still buy the Akorn as it really is an intelligent design.
Ceramics are great but they are old school and old technology. I also love the Weber Kamado and the Blaze Kamado
Thanks for Watching Rowan! Appreciate the feedback and the insight!
Hi Tom, do you still have the Kamado joe kettle? Just wondering. I was never really impressed with it myself. I always enjoy watching your content!
Thanks for Watching Bill! Yes, I still have it
Char Griller Thanks for the video.
Thanks for Watching!
Could you swap the original Akorn ash tray out and use the Auto as a manual style when you don't need the fan? Colors wouldn't match but just be nice to have option to use as manual when you want. Thanks!
Thanks for watching Mark! Yes
I have the AK and it's the best winter grill (I live in Winnipeg Canada) that I have. But sometimes I wonder if it is too efficient? When I do a long cook like a brisket or a pork butt, I don't seem to get as much smoke on the food as my BGE. With my BGE, it seems to use more coal/wood so I get a better/more smoke flavour. All in all, I'm still experimenting. If I didn't already have my two BGEs and bought the AK first, I would not have bought the BGE. BTW, my temp probe for the AK stopped working and it think it's because of opening and closing the lid a lot wore out the wire. I'm also wondering about the best setup for wood chunks for long cooks on the AK. Cheers.
Thanks for Watching Andre! There have been problems with the wire and probe, customer service will probably replace t
Tom, can you give us your best grill cleaning products? Need a good outside, then inside cleaner.
Thanks for Watching! I’ll have a video soon
I have the auto kamado,so far been very happy with it. Mine sits on a covered porch when not in use.
Thanks for Watching Jeff! Mines in the garage,, “Land of Grills”
@Tom Horsman Your review was the main reason I bought mine.Thank You
I'll keep my Auto Kamado thank you very much
Thanks for Watching Mike! Me too!
Hi Tom!. Having owned an Akron before the KJ3 Classic, I can say that I miss it. I would go with the Auto Kamado WAY before the the Konnected. Doesn't the same company own both now?
Thanks for Watching Tom! As I said in the video, yes they are both owned by the same company
I like the chargriller auto Kamado, it's my choice for a smoker/grill
Thanks for Watching James! I agree!
For the price and the way it looks, I would honestly go with the Char-Griller Auto. 450$ I can stomach if I was in the market for something like that. 1700$ is just a real tough thing to invest in, unless that was replacing pretty much all of my other cooking equipment. Thank you for the video sir!
Thanks for Watching! I agree!
I’ve been looking all over for the Char griller auto kamado and it’s sold out in Alabama. Where are you all finding these?
Thanks for Watching! Mainly at Walmart
While I don't know about the new Kamado Joe, I know the others are very good at live fire/air movement. I have an AK and find developing bark and crisping skin on chicken isn't quiet the same. Some of the internal setups you can do on the normal Kamado Joes is were those grills shine IMO. Plus, I've run into a bad unit or something. I've have to replace 2 probes and a fan. Now Char Griller was great in giving replacements, but I'm over the electronica thing... I have to be honest though, I'm looking to get a Kamado Joe (Not the new Konnected one) as soon as I save up for one.
Thanks for Watching Terry! I appreciate the honest feedback
You get what you pay for. I have a few KJ and a regular char griller not the auto one. The food comes out way better on my KJ then the char griller. But the char griller is good for what it is. The auto kamado you can use with it plugged in or as a regular KJ with the door on the bottom. The KJ also has a way better warranty and better quality
Thanks for watching! Appreciate the feedback
Wish I could get the char griller here in the uk 🇬🇧, managed to snag the table top so far but would love the 980 and auto kamado 😢
Thanks for Watching Dean!
I have the auto kamado love it but I would like to find out how Jim is running it with his drill battery I order a battery from amazon but it never came so I got a refund
Thanks for Watching! Not sure
Hey Tom! Have you seen the new Loco 22” Smart Temp Kettle $399 at Home Depot? There is only a few videos on CZcams and I would love to see it compared to all your other smart blower type charcoal grills!
There is also a $499 model with upgraded cart but seems to have not made it to market yet.
From what I’ve seen, Weber should take note of Loco’s heat diffuser design.
Thanks for watching Jason! I’ll check it out!
I’m sure the Konnected Kamado is nice, but for the money, I will stick with my auto Kamado any day!
Thanks for watching Jack! Agreed
Yeah, steel can rust, but ceramic can crack. If I wanted to get started with a kamado style cooker, I'd go with the Auto Kamado. The most important question is, how does the food taste? When it's well prepared, what grill it came off of is an afterthought.
I know a few people that have either the Kamado Joe or an Egg. They can easily afford them, but also swear by them. The other things these owners claim that are differentiators for the KJ (other than price), would be how steady the temperature is once you get it dialed in and fuel efficiency. That is obviously due to the mass and insulating properties of the ceramic. That can also be a negative if you want to lower the temperature. I doubt anyone that can afford a KJ is disappointed they bought one.
KJ and BGE come with lifetime warranties on the ceramics. If it cracks, they will take care of you.
Thanks for Watching Ted! You are correct! Appreciate you Watching and commenting
Thanks for Watching Brian! Appreciate the feedback
Do you think the komado joe rotisserie is better than weber rotisserie? I am just not sure komado is worth the money. Thanks
Thanks for Watching Kory! The Weber is better and much cheaper
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ ok. I think i agree with you. Now do you offer marital advice on how to buy your next grill? I have two and want to add a weber deluxe. My wife is not in the camp of more is better. Love your videos. Keep them coming.
Lol! Good luck with that Kory! Enjoy!
Different country of Manufacture..
I would guess the heavy ceramic is made in the US..
Is the other steel one US made or not???
Thanks for Watching Mark! They are both made in China, even with shipping the majority of ceramic kamados come from china
Walmart will sell the Auto kamado for 225 every once in a while. With free shipping. That's why got mine. No regrets with my auto kamado. Love it.
Thanks for Watching! Appreciate the feedback!
I’ll stick with my AK. I just wish I could get the Wi-Fi to work. I have ribs on it right now.
Thanks for Watching Steven! Mine only works on 2.4ghz
Tom can you do a review on the Walmart Komodo
Thanks for Watching Gerardo! I have looked at and decided not, not sure how it is a Kamado since it doesn’t have a diffuser of any sort
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ Oh wow, I didn’t realize that. I just saw that they had came out with one
Unless it’s different, been around for about a year I think
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ Tom, I was at Walmart yesterday and you’re right there is no diffuser
Would love to see a head to head and the results.
As would I ! Thanks for Watching!
There is a direct comparison on YT.
Thanks for Watching
The thing is, you could buy like 4 of one with what the other costs.
Thanks for Watching John! Agreed
The KJ is bright red though...
Thanks for watching! You are correct
I will take them both. I'm greedy. Lol
Lol! Thanks for Watching!
Auto Kamado for sure unless you wanted a Red one!
Thanks for Watching Norman! It’s strange that there are those who think color,,, Green or Red makes the best Kamado
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ YUP!!!
I feel that you are very biased towards chargriller.
Thanks for Watching! I would expect you to feel that. Please tell me why the Kamado Joe over The Char-Grill Auto Kamado
