I did my best to promote this song. During my college years, I was a DJ and Music Director for my college's radio station. Made sure to play the song each shift, and made sure all the other DJ's played the song as well. Perfect mix of 80's New Wave and 40's Boogie Woogie.
I'm rather shocked this was not the big hit it should have been. It only got as high as #61 in the UK and #54 in the U.S. I guess its lack of chart success was the reason for the band disbanding two years later in 1985.
we worked with these guys a couple of times doing company functions before they got featured on the John Peel show and became famous ..brilliant. such nice blokes
OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This song IS real!! I have been dying to hear it for years. It was my fave song back in 82 when I was around 11. LOL! Thank you so much who put it on.
Should have been at least a top 10. I remember when this song came out. I loved it and so did my dog, who would cuddle the radio when this song was playing.
KSMI in Donaldsonville, Louisiana played a steady stream of songs from the lower end of the charts, and this one was a regular back in 1983. I remember it being played along with Thompson Twins "Lies" and OXO "Whirly Girl". The Baton Rouge and New Orleans metro stations played NOTHING but the same dozen or so top hits over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...
Sorry about some of the missed footage at the beginning and end of the video. In those days you had the tape in the VCR waiting for your favorite video and then it was a mad rush to push record on the remote.
I saw this band open for the Stray Cats in the early eighties at the Warfield in San Francisco. I was 15, it was my first concert ever, I thought they were even better than the Stray Cats.
Thank you for posting this. Some of my earliest memories ( as fuzzy as they are ). I have been looking for this video for probably 20 years unsuccessfully, and here it is. I've tried describing the video and the band to people for years with no luck. This is great. I hope that you have some other early MTV videos.
I honestly just heard this song a few days ago on XM Radio, and just thought it was pretty cool. I'm very glad someone here had the song to it. Thanks.
Hi - love these guys too - went all the way to London, UK in 2001 to see them do a reunion gig - they were awesome!!! 6 of the 7 orignal guys were there - it was crazy! I have all their stuff on mp3 - email me if you'd like it! Cheers! Mare
It is available on CD through E-bay, Amazon or even best buy: (of course Japanes version, excellent songs, all the best, it will probably cost 20-40$), must have of course!
This was one of the better hits from the summer of 1983. It deserved way better.

Dancing the night away to great music like this-miss those times!

Yeah it's a great song but slightly obscure.
Yeah, those were great times all around and truly miss “that feeling”.
we worked with these guys a couple of times doing company functions before they got featured on the John Peel show and became famous ..brilliant. such nice blokes
this should have 5 million views

THIS SONG WENT TO NUMBER 54 ON THE BILLBOARD HOT-100 CHART IN 1983.
Should have been at least a top 10. I remember when this song came out. I loved it and so did my dog, who would cuddle the radio when this song was playing.

Yeah! living in SoCal listening to this on KROQ in the 80's! I miss those great times.
WOW.. KROQ..

And Other artists & hits from that time
Amazing.
I was there then too!
Brilliant Band Live!
One Of The Best 'Jump Jive' Bands Of The 80's.
Still Sounding Good Too!
Yeah I loved those '50s retro bands in the '80s -- like the Stray Cats. This is a great song.

I remember seeing this on MTV when it first came out. I love the look of the film stock or video from 80s videos.
I saw this band with the Stray Cats back in the '80s. They gave a really good show.
Song was on the Rhino Records series "Just Can't Get Enough - New Wave Hits of the 80's" volume 10.
Had their album of the time...all but one or two of the tunes were great, unique
Still got the vinyl
Peaked at No. 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 61 on the U.K. Singles Chart in 1983. Fine little song.
LOVE this song.
Great band.... they should have been huge
I saw them live, they toured with the Stray Cats back in '83! Riverside Convention Center in CA.
Great song thnx for the upload
One of the early vids I saw on MTV.....nice, lighthearted '80's material....almost like an Aussie Squirrel Nut Zippers.
True quality. Wish I'd seen Roman Holliday live.
I'm surprised I never heard this song come back when retro-swing was the rage in the late 90's.
I love this song still!

Me too. When they actually played music and had great videos!
Sounds like George Michael. I remember this new wave classic from 1981 and still love it!!
I honestly just heard this song a few days ago on XM Radio, and just thought it was pretty cool. I'm very glad someone here had the song to it. Thanks.
First group I ever saw in Concert. Opened for Stray Cats and yeah it was the 80's
@Paganmaiden So glad you like it. It was on an old VHS tape and I had to do something with it!
I’m so frustrated time travel doesn’t exist. I would love to go back to 1983 and watch MTV in 1983 again.
Mv3 with Richard Blade and Karen was waaaaay better than MTV. Imo. Lol

Another heavy rotation song KROQ play back in the 80's
WLIR on Long Island as well...
KROQ was awesome!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love this ditty! Anyone else have the 12-inch picture disc? 😎
OMG! This reminds me that they had more than they're well known song. They weren't one hit wonders.....
Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ty for posting this, was my fave song at the time, awsome track, cheers!
my aftershave has given my hiding place away...
You put the snap in crocodile.
It is available on CD through E-bay, Amazon or even best buy: (of course Japanes version, excellent songs, all the best, it will probably cost 20-40$), must have of course!
You're welcome. It's a classic!
they were about 10 years ahead of themselves
Hi there _ I think so, but it would be on my old PC - I'll Look and let you know!
Cheers!
Just my opinion, but if you want to hear another early New Wave song that is fun, but didn't make a big hit, try Holiday by the Other Ones.
Lets dance!
no worries ~ you did good!
Any joy mate?
@spritelybird me too!!!!
I'd love their stuff on MP3. can you help?
I didn't know Conan O'Brien was in a band.
Sad to think the dishy blonde chick would be considered kinda overweight by today's standards....
I always thought the lead singer was a dreamboat.
I always thought EMF had a similar look, about 10 years later
