Sorry, Don and Phil, I think this version is even better than the Everley Brothers' version. I've heard male duet and female duet versions of the song, but the mixture of the male and female voices, together with the perfect blend of the two guitars, is out of this world. I've listened to this a few more times and it's hard to see how it could be improved. It sends shivers down my spine. Fantastic. You managed to perfect the balance of voices: Matt's voice (singing the melody) is allowed to dominate (just!) while Sophie's voice (singing the harmonies) is still clearly audible. I've heard another version (not by you) where the female harmony drowns out the male melody - not good :-(

Hey, Great body of work the two of you produce. Very inspiring. For me, unfortunately, I'm spending more time getting my rig routed correctly. I saw you had answered my question on somebody else's post, but I'm still having mixed results. Basically, I have a TCHELICON VOICELIVE 3 EXTREME, a BOSS RC-300 looping station, and an ALESIS Multimix 8 mixer. If I read and understood "Correctly" what you suggested, you had them plug mic and guitar into the VL3X INPUTS, then run an XLR out of the L(mono) to the mic input on the RC-300. Is that correct? When I set it up this way, I can get the looper to record the vocal as expected, but my sound to the mixer (going out the mains with two 1/4" cables) is just garbage... The best result for me is to plug mic and guitar into the VL3X and send both XLR outputs to the mixer. That way I achieve a beautiful rich and wide stereo sound that's clear as a bell. The rub is that I cannot loop any of it (unless I were to use the VL3X internal looper). Any suggestions as to where to go for these types of advanced setups?? Thanks again!! Keep rockin!
Hello Terry, thank you very much for watching, that's very kind of you. Hmmm, I suppose the first thing would be to ask you to clarify the term 'garbage'. The way we route our signal does indeed mean we have to sacrifice any stereo information, which is quite a bummer, but the upside is that folks on the left of the stage hear the same performance as those on the right, so we're happy to take the hit in exchange for being able to loop everything we put through the vl3. If the sound is distorted and just unuseable, it might be a problem with gain staging: After your vocal leaves the VL3, it'll have been boosted by whatever settings you have applied and will most likely be MUCH hotter than when it went in, so for us, this means knocking down the vocal input gain on the RC300 a huge amount - like, almost OFF - before we get a vocal signal that doesn't clip on the rc300. Likewise, the instrument input on the rc300 generally needs to be no higher than about a quarter to twelve, or possibly lower if you're doing lots of high gain or boosting on the VL3. Once these signals are coming through without clipping, crank the master output of the RC300 up to full and check the gain on the mixer channel isn't clipping - then use the desk's channel fader and master outs to set the final volume. Sorry if this is all obvious stuff that you already know, but that's how we do it and the results are at least good enough to pay the rent - haha! 😅

Likewise, the instrument input on the rc300 generally needs to be no higher than about a quarter to twelve, or possibly lower if you're doing lots of high gain or boosting on the VL3.
Once these signals are coming through without clipping, crank the master output of the RC300 up to full and check the gain on the mixer channel isn't clipping - then use the desk's channel fader and master outs to set the final volume.
Sorry if this is all obvious stuff that you already know, but that's how we do it and the results are at least good enough to pay the rent - haha! 😅
