I agree but I also work at mcdonalds and it's not really the fact of what hes doing, but just the fact that we have a live timer timing how long it takes us to get each car out of the drive thru. Having someone hold up other cars or even just exceed the 120 time limit can be very frustrating and unfair to those who are running their buisness. And as someone who specializes in the drive thru, it can also be very unfair to work really hard for hours to get each car out within the time limit, only to have one car skew the average.

You don't have a right to stick an ice cream in your face. Listen more carefully and you'll hear he (the shift manager?) says he'll call the cops and trespass him. The lady (general manager?) then explains she called the cops to be certain she can tell him to go away for smushing ice cream in his face. He's holding up the drive thru so I can totally see why a McDonald's doesn't want to deal with him slowing their business down. When he enters the place to get his money back the store has apparently decided he's not worth their time (Unsurprising, I bet the profit on an ice cream cone is 50 cents, tops) and they want to make sure he'll never come back, lest he be officially trespassed. Completely normal. It sucks you have to get the police to keep him away, but having run a business, I've called the cops twice to trespass customers that just wouldn't get that when they're told to leave and not come back, they need to leave and not come back. The people left without getting a trespass warning in writing and never came back. As a business owner I don't want to have to manage the paperwork for a written trespass warning (some provinces/states require complicated things like appeal rights and such) so I'm happy enough to just have the cops explain to the idiot that they're not wanted and next time they'll be sitting in a cruiser (although they won't go to jail next time, they just get to sit there and look stupid while they get handed official paperwork, after that then they get to spend a bit of time at the police station). Overall, this guy kind of sucks and I'm glad to see a store that doesn't want their employee's time wasted.
+Tad Evans Depends on where you live. Some places have police departments that are basically bylaw enforcement, because they decided to combine those functions. The officers that show up in those circumstances are being interrupted from handing out tickets for fencing that's too high, or cars that didn't pay attention to the no parking signs. Not exactly interrupting a policeman from something life and death. And for those places that don't do this, trespass calls are placed on very low priority so that they only send officers that don't have any serious work to do. My area is like this, and the times I've called it took officers 30+ minutes to show up (yeah, the idiots waited that long, guess they didn't believe me). I don't feel bad because, having spoken with the police, for calls like this, it's just interrupting a coffee break. Which I guess is a piss off, but hey, they're being paid and this is one of the less fun things they just gotta do to earn the paycheque. Kind of like dealing with coning for $8/hr.

The employees are stupid. When they serve the food, and their customer legally paid for the food, it officially belongs to the customer, and whatever the customer were to do with the food does not concern the employees whatsoever. He wasn't even making a mess in or around the McD, even if he made mess, it was all in his car. I personally think he has the right to do what he wants. They also have no rights to refuse serving a customer after they had paid, that's considered theft.
The problem is that he was not doing it and then leaving. He kept hanging around in the drive thru to get a reaction and holding up the line, and then would get back in the line to do it all over again. That's disruptive and immature. It was ok the first time, but repeatedly doing it was crossing the line. He held up the line even further by arguing with them when they (rightfully) told him not to come back. You have every right to not serve someone that is disruptive, and they had every right to not serve him through the drive thru. They would serve him in the dining room just fine, where not only would it be more publicly humiliating for him to do it again but also would give them the right to discontinue serving him and call the police, since he is now disrupting other people.

The lady (general manager?) then explains she called the cops to be certain she can tell him to go away for smushing ice cream in his face.
He's holding up the drive thru so I can totally see why a McDonald's doesn't want to deal with him slowing their business down.
When he enters the place to get his money back the store has apparently decided he's not worth their time (Unsurprising, I bet the profit on an ice cream cone is 50 cents, tops) and they want to make sure he'll never come back, lest he be officially trespassed.
Completely normal. It sucks you have to get the police to keep him away, but having run a business, I've called the cops twice to trespass customers that just wouldn't get that when they're told to leave and not come back, they need to leave and not come back. The people left without getting a trespass warning in writing and never came back.
As a business owner I don't want to have to manage the paperwork for a written trespass warning (some provinces/states require complicated things like appeal rights and such) so I'm happy enough to just have the cops explain to the idiot that they're not wanted and next time they'll be sitting in a cruiser (although they won't go to jail next time, they just get to sit there and look stupid while they get handed official paperwork, after that then they get to spend a bit of time at the police station).
Overall, this guy kind of sucks and I'm glad to see a store that doesn't want their employee's time wasted.
+Tad Evans Depends on where you live. Some places have police departments that are basically bylaw enforcement, because they decided to combine those functions. The officers that show up in those circumstances are being interrupted from handing out tickets for fencing that's too high, or cars that didn't pay attention to the no parking signs. Not exactly interrupting a policeman from something life and death.
And for those places that don't do this, trespass calls are placed on very low priority so that they only send officers that don't have any serious work to do. My area is like this, and the times I've called it took officers 30+ minutes to show up (yeah, the idiots waited that long, guess they didn't believe me). I don't feel bad because, having spoken with the police, for calls like this, it's just interrupting a coffee break. Which I guess is a piss off, but hey, they're being paid and this is one of the less fun things they just gotta do to earn the paycheque. Kind of like dealing with coning for $8/hr.

The employees are stupid. When they serve the food, and their customer legally paid for the food, it officially belongs to the customer, and whatever the customer were to do with the food does not concern the employees whatsoever. He wasn't even making a mess in or around the McD, even if he made mess, it was all in his car. I personally think he has the right to do what he wants. They also have no rights to refuse serving a customer after they had paid, that's considered theft.

The problem is that he was not doing it and then leaving. He kept hanging around in the drive thru to get a reaction and holding up the line, and then would get back in the line to do it all over again. That's disruptive and immature. It was ok the first time, but repeatedly doing it was crossing the line. He held up the line even further by arguing with them when they (rightfully) told him not to come back. You have every right to not serve someone that is disruptive, and they had every right to not serve him through the drive thru. They would serve him in the dining room just fine, where not only would it be more publicly humiliating for him to do it again but also would give them the right to discontinue serving him and call the police, since he is now disrupting other people.
I swear the people defending this clown must be 12 years old or at least have the mental capacity of a 12 year old. It's funny one time, get your laughs and go about your business. After that is going too far.
