    This place is the best. We have been there many times and got engaged there as well! Lots of memories. You can't just do a day trip...your going to miss so much of the island. This video shows exactly what NOT to do. Which is ride the outside perimeter of the island. The actual downtown area with the bars, restaurants, and shops are interior to the island by playa norte on Hidalgo street

    Respectfully - this video sounds like one long complaint after another. I stayed in Isla back in July and I am going back in January and had such a different experience than you, even factoring in that you went for just the day. I was very shocked when at the end you said you enjoyed yourself, after it being too hot, too crowded, to full (satisfied) to eat or drink, to many scammers, nothing to buy, crowded ferry....... Go back and maybe spend one night, the hotels have such a great price range, there is snorkeling, Tortugranga , the Underwater Museum, the nice beach clubs, the beautiful Playa Norte. Have dinner on the strip on the north side with all the restaurants, or one of the beach front restaurants. I thought I would get some tips, well the bus was a good tip, but the rest of the video fell short. Good luck.

The trips from the resorts or online don’t really seem to allow enough time to actually explore the island itself. Thanks for the great video! We are also staying at Sun Palace soon and want to trek to Isla Mujeres for a day trip. A couple of questions - how far is the IM Palace from Playa Norte beach? Was 2-ish hours enough to visit the beach and Palace? Finally, is there are place to shower/rinse off at the Palace after swimming in the ocean? We are planning a catamaran/snorkeling tour that allows 2.5 hours on the island and definitely want to visit the beach first then head to Palace to cool off and have lunch.

    I was a "big resort person" for years but due to the unpredictable seaweed, I've started to go to Isla Mujeres. It's true that many of the resorts are not as upscale as Riviera Maya/Cancun but there magic on this island if you take the time to discover it. For example, we went to the Women's Bead Cooperative to support the women and children who make beaded jewelry and to Isla Animales where you can play with dogs hoping to catch the next flight to the US. Take a look at the AirBnBs and Casa de los Suenos on the South Side. We stay a few days on North Beach for the beach and the party then go to the south side for a more chill vibe. It's worth a second look!

    This is a great review however this video was made at least a year ago and very, very limited as it only shows what you can do within max 3 hours on the Island. We live in Isla Mujeres and we have seen all sides and seasons of the Island and just like everything else that is changing all the time especially now the Covid is "done". The Palace resort is actually located in the Hotel Zone in Cancun but that is NOT downtown Cancun. The hotel zone bus is only 10 peso and will take you to the nearest Hotel Zona Ferry locations or downtown and from there you would have to take collectivo or taxi to Puerto Juarez. Now besides the ones she mention in the video there is a new ferry as well a more upscale version of the Ultramar ferry called Xcaret but they have limited hours of operations and only go back and fort from the Hotel Zona to Isla Mujeres. However with your Xcaret ferry ticket you get access to the best view from the top of the Cancun Scenic Tower.
    There is a main ferry station in Puerto Juarez (Ultramar and Jetway) and just 5 min walk away the local ferry ( Jetway) that usually goes every other 30 min than Ultramar. So if you miss the ferry you can walk down and take the other one but do not have high expectations is not as nice as Ultramar. First ferry at 6am last ferry 11pm. If you want to bring your car over you need to go even further to Punta Sam cargo ferry station to take your car over what is 400 peso per ride including the fare of the driver. Now if you have Mexican residency you get discounts everywhere except here, for the car ferry the pay is same for everyone. If you get to the island around 9 am you could possible rent a golf car for the whole day cost is about $55-60 depending on the seasons and availability. Also you can rent scoters and bicycles! What the lady in the video did not see is there is very cute downtown area just a couple blocks in, by north beach with amazing restaurants and shops, live music , tequila tasting , mariachis, ice cream shops juice bars and more. There is soo much more of this cute little Island that we don't have the time to explain here but now we are inspired to create videos like this is explain the isnad a bit more as we understand how limited someone's experience could get if they don't know much about the Island and or don't have much time.
    The beach here is one of the best in the whole Riviera Maya she did not make to the North beach what is incredibly beautiful and the "VIP" resort she was was not even close as it is a located another area so for that reason the beach is very different there. Do not miss North Beach when you go to Isla it is worth the trip.
    There are so many other things to do on the Island: sunrise tour at the south point and ruins, Beach clubs at the Isla Hotel Zone, Downtown Shopping, Isla Mujeres Sign on the east end by north beach, dine out at and enjoy nightlife at downtown Avenida Hidalgo, Dolphin Discovery at the end of the lagoon, Zip line by the South Point, enjoy local restaurants and shopping in La Gloria in the middle of the island, sunset sail and more! Come visit us in Isla Mujeres you won't be disappointed. We hope to see you at Isla Mujeres.

    We stayed at the “cheap” half of the resort and it was very nice! The extra money for the water park didn’t seem worth it to us. We went in 2021. They only pitched the time charge during our initial orientation and we told them absolutely NO. It never came up again even when we booked excursions.

      Hi! Yes much different. Isla Mujeres is a 4 mile island across the way. Costa Mujeres is north of Cancun in Mexico. Isla is a whole different vibe. Costa Mujeres will be chill and relax. Isla Mujeres is more of an island vibe and bustling with lots of people. We usually stay in Cancun and then go to Isla for a day.

      This might be better answered by a travel agent but I’m assuming it would be cheapest to fly into Cancun and then either stay at a resort on the island or stay in Cancun somewhere and take a day trip there. I prefer staying in Cancun and taking a day trip!!

      Cheaper way to get to Isla Mujeres from L.A.: Book a flight from Tijuana to Cancun. Drive to San Diego, park your car across from the CBX (cross border express), enter Tijuana airport from the US side of the border. Domestic flight costs 40-50% less than from LAX to Cancun :)

    So just a few things.. is not “La” Isla just Isla Mujeres and it’s Playa Norte not Playa “del” Norte. Also, there are three different ferry terminals such as Puerta Juarez and the car ferry as well to get there. We love Isla and kinda sad you didn’t even go to Playa Norte (we stay at Privilege Aluxes on Playa Norte every year) and the beach is one of the most beautiful in the world. And the reason the vendors are geared towards tourists is because wellll it’s a tourist island.. I mean just saying.. the people there that work on that island are like family and I think everyone should go and check it out!! See Punta Sur where the Mayan ruins are, the furthest point in Mexico, and Hidalgo street in Centro, visit the Melacon on the north east part and again Playa Norte!! White sands for days and the prettiest aqua water with no seaweed!! You’ll get the best massage on the beach as well for 600 pesos or $30 US for an hour! It’s amazing! and avoid the south side of the island where the palace is because the beach on that side is lagoons and not very pretty. This whole video just made me sad as it’s the worst representation of this amazing island!!

    Isla Mujeres is not a cookie cutter resort island. What you showcased were the gross tourist trap areas. Isla about discovering your own personal experience throughout the interior streets. The beauty and peace are there for the finding. Playa Norte is world class pristine beaches and the southern tip, Punta Sur, is wonderfully dramatic wth it's crashing waves and Mayan Temple.
    Scratching the surface here reveals a depth that isn't for everybody.

    Good thing to also know is that the island is HOT... hotter than the Hotel Zone. If you are walking from the ferry to the North beaches, the ocean breeze is blocked by the shops and it can be VERY VERY uncomfortable for seniors, young children or anyone who is sensitive to heat.

    • @foreverhomepetrescue
      @foreverhomepetrescue Před 11 měsíci +1

      Also... if going for the day, GO EARLY. We skip the golf cart and go to the beach clubs just south of Playa del Norte. You pay $14 per person for the day for a lounge chair, umbrella and a small table right on the water in the sand. They have menus of actually REALLY good food and will serve you drinks all day on a tab. If you get to the beach clubs by around 9am you are guaranteed a spot and no crowds - it doesn't start to get busy until after noon- and we typically leave about 3pm to head back to the Hotel Zone. :)

      @@waltino81 most bars close around midnight. Just take a walk down Hidalgo street and pick a bar. There’s tons of them and all of them have roll up doors so when the place is open you can just look right in without having to walk through a door so that’s nice. I would recommend Green Demon beach club for a day of drinking and eating at north beach. Renting a bed with an umbrella is only like $40 USD or something. Also would recommend staying in a VRBO or AirBnb. Make sure it’s on the north end of the island if you don’t want to drive. Most of what you’re gonna do is on the north end.
