- Here is the exclusive Ernie Pyle black crackle replica Zippo that has been released through the Ernie Pyle Legacy Foundation exclusively through Riley's 66. 28582 Ernie Pyle. The originals of these lighters made by Zippo during WWII for the people on the USS Cabot are very hard to come by and being able to obtain a replica of these Zippos, to me, is really awesome!!

Fully agree with all of what you wrote. I'm actually a bit surprised how many people I know never heard of Ernie. Even people who get into WWII history.
Only true Zippo enthusiasts would appreciate such a replica because it would be the closest most of us will ever get to having or seeing a real Earnie Pyle Zippo.
Kudos to Rileys66 for having the vision to do an awesome tribute lighter to preserve the historical meaning behind this Zippo.
Fully agree. I know I'll most likely never own an authentic one. Which makes this one a great addition to my collection. I, too, also appreciate that Riley's 66 and the Ernie Pyle Legacy Foundation decided to produce these Zippos. Ernie Pyle really is an icon of American WWII history.

Very cool they have some of his writings! They are definitely good reads! Filled with lots of info as to how it was during the war for the American troops.

Cool lighter. I got the brushed chrome version. I actually use mine. I believe in using the zippos for what they’re made for. The only ones I don’t use are the collectible ones zippo puts out every year
I'm thinking about getting the chrome version as well. I have about four lighters I rotate periodically for use at home or while out and about. One with a pipe insert the rest with regular inserts.

Pretty lacklustre zippo. Only a word engraving on it. Woulda been nice to get some detail or imagery on there lol. I won’t be wasting my money on it.
Fully understand your reasoning. I like the history associated with what it represents. Ernie Pyle's books have been really interesting to read. I know I'll never see a real 1945 one, much less own one, lol. So this is the next best thing for me. I'm always wasting my money, lol 😆
I disagree with ZF77O on this one. It is a tribute to one of the worlds greatest journalists who paid the ultimate price for doing his job. As zf77o is Canadian I can understand this one wouldn't have much meaning to him, but as an American I Love that they paid tribute to him. It's well deserved and worth every penny it cost to show due respect. 🇺🇸
